LIVE | Range Show | Bethpage Black | Day 3 | 2025 Ryder Cup

[Music] Yeah, Keegan’s been like a brother to me. Um, obviously it was an incredible thing when he got named Ryder Cup captain. To this point, it hasn’t exactly gone to plan. And that’s really a kudos to Team Europe. They’ve really played incredible golf. I I can even argue I think I read this morning that Team USA yesterday afternoon was 31 under par and and Europe won almost every match. So sometimes in sports you you got to take your hat off and tip your cap to a team that’s just playing a little bit better than you are. Um regardless of what you have going on. I think that’s been the case so far. The beautiful thing about golf is that it’s not over and we have a new day and and things could change dramatically overnight. Um, I’m sure that’s what Team USA is hoping for. On the flip side of things, I it’s going to be hard for Europe not to feel confident about where they stand. They only need a few points this morning and they’ve been performing so well that they’re just going to come out here and try to kind of keep doing what it is they’ve been doing. Um, not saying that USA is out here searching because they actually have also played quite well. They just haven’t had some of those very timely putts go in. So I would guess that a lot of the time for the USA guys today are going to be spent a few extra minutes on the putting green getting a feel and just getting a feel for seeing the ball go in the hole. Right. Europe has not had an issue with that this week. USA has. I think they’ve actually been performing quite well from Ta Green. Europe’s just making some timely putts. So Justin Rose, seven birdies yesterday. Shane Lowry birdie three of the last four holes and then he had Rory coming in birdie the only one that he didn’t. So, a lot of birdies were being made. I think putting will kind of be the deciding factor if those putts drop. At at this level, it really is kind of the determining factor. And it’s not even a technical thing, I don’t think, for these guys in in a vacuum. Like I said, we got the 24 best players here. They’re all ex they’re all amazing players. They’re all well above average PGA Tour players with their skill set. Europe has been able to kind of dig a little bit deeper and make some of those outside of the statistical realm putts in some of the bigger moments. Um, USA has not been able to do that to this point, but like I said, everything can flip overnight. So, we saw Cameron Young also just hitting some shots out of the bunker. You know, this golf course. What are those bunkers like? We also saw a lot of kind of 50 60 yard bunker shots coming in. Yeah, we actually we always joked about it in college actually that Beth Paige is a very hard place to score unless your long bunker game is is quite good. Um the hardest shot in golf. Definitely the hardest shot in golf, right? Like a 30 to 70 yard bunker shot. And if you get a little bit out of position here or even in position on some of the par fives and you get a little unlucky, you find yourself with some of those longer bunker shots. Again, these are the best players in the world. We just we did see Cam actually just practicing that there and I think I saw him kind of lip out on two of them. But right now you can see how you know I don’t think people really understand how impressive what Cam is doing right now. Full swing cloppers that are flying about four yards and landing softly. It’s just an incredible golf shot. It’s insane. That’s really good. And we did see a lot of that yesterday. Those players being having the the short have to have a full swing with it. We’ve got Justin Thomas coming down right now. Watched him almost ace 17 yesterday. This is pretty exciting. I think this is this is certainly one of USA’s emotional leaders here. That’s why he’s going off second. He’s had some moments of greatness this week for sure. I I think he’s kind of built for this moment and um I’m certainly he’s done everything he’s needed to do to be prepared this morning. by far one of the most talented players of uh you know the last 10 10 years or so. Um he’s going to be ready to go today. He finds himself in a tough match like everyone does today, but I think he’s he’s going to be prepared and ready to go. And a day like today, singles matches, I think that’s where your deep within drive really comes out, that desire to win and you can make some things happen no matter where your game is at. Yeah, this is obviously today is different than the last two. It’s one-on-one. you can kind of react a little bit differently to the guy you’re playing. But this is so different than their week in week out experience of kind of that marathon style golf of of four rounds trying to put a score together and kind of go back to some of these short side shots we’ve seen. see these guys kind of attacking some pins and doing some things that maybe they wouldn’t necessarily do on a four round stroke play tournament, but they you got to press the envelope here in the RDER club, especially when you have a partner yesterday afternoon who kind of you have the support and can back you up a little bit. But I think that’s why we’ve seen some of these guys get in some spots that we’re not necessarily used to seeing them in on a week in weekout basis is because the style of play in this is very different. Now, to this point, Europe has reacted uh much better to that than USA has, but hopefully USA can figure something out today. The JT Tommy Fleetwood matchup. What do you think? Well, just like we said about Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood has kind of uh set himself up as one of the greatest RDER Cup performers in of all time. He he seems to show up when it matters the most in the RDER Cup. Beyond the fact that I don’t think anyone can argue the fact that he’s physically one of the most gifted people on the planet. Um, watching him hit a golf ball is if if you love golf is is really a a piece of art. Uh, but he seems so far this week to kind of have that moxy and that that will to do what he needs to do when it matters the most. Um and especially someone who gets um un in my opinion kind of unfairly criticized in a week in weekout basis because these guys put themselves in a position to win so many times that you’re going to fail so often comp you know we Tiger Woods is the anomaly right and and our expectation and the average golf fan expectation is that oh well Tiger Woods won every time he had a chance and it it’s not fair so Tom in my opinion Tommy is a victim of some unfair expectations. patience just on these guys in general. He he puts himself with a chance to win, you know, way more times than most people do and that’s why sometimes he falls short and sometimes he doesn’t. But he’s still one of the best players in the world. Match play you and Keegan. Who’s winning? How do those matches go on? I I I’d be happy if I beat Keegan twice two out of 10 times. I mean, he if if he was here telling you right now, he said I’d have no chance. But uh I like I like I can’t I got to protect my ego a little bit and tell myself every once in a while I can get in his pocket. But he is also one of the best players in the world and quite difficult to beat in a match play scenario. And I you know especially and he’s shown it in the RDER Cups he’s been play played in in the past. I mean his he seems to be able to rise to the occasion. He’s one of the guys even in the last year he finds himself with an opportunity to win. He seems to be able to lift himself up into that moment emotionally and mentally. He’s one of the most mentally strong people in that I’ve ever met in my life. So, given the situation that he’s in right now, I I know maybe he had a tough time sleeping last night, but I know he’s gathered himself and I know mentally and emotionally he’s ready to do what he has to do for his team to hopefully make a push today because he’s the type of guy that can handle this situation and that’s why he finds himself here and that’s why he’s the captain of USA. And I’ve been so impressed by Keegan just of how he’s handled the last few months. I think he’s done a great job of bringing the caddies, coaches, all of the coaches of all these players, they’ve had meetings, they go through stats. I think it’s it’s very interesting to see how he’s very open to input and hearing and learning new things. Yeah. No, I’m I’m not in the locker room and stuff, but I’ve talked to him a bunch. I I think if you were to ask uh the PJ of America how Keegan’s done as a captain, they have nothing but praise. I think that maybe um he’s created a new vision and a new future of what is expected of a of a USA captain. I I think regardless of the scoreboard right now, I think uh team USA has been supportive of each other and more together than they ever have been. And I think that’s a testament to Keegan as a captain. You know, like I said, it hasn’t shown itself on the scoreboard yet. Hopefully today they can make a push based on everything he’s done this year. But when he was named captain, I was kind of personally worried about how his own game would react to it. And he’s had one of the best years of his career, which is another testament to how mentally and emotionally strong he is. Now, just tell me about your dad and his golf game and sort of his career through it all. Yeah, my father um you know, he was a started caddying at Woodway Country Club when he was 6 years old and retired as director of golf at 65 years old. Spent his whole life there. Spent three years away in the Navy. And then when he retired from there, he took a year off. He went nuts and he started working as a starter at Silvermind Golf Club for Stu Walk for the next 13 years until unfortunately he uh he passed away two years ago. But you know, he’s a Connecticut golf hall of famer. He played in six or seven majors. He won every tournament underneath the sun. Um and then he did everything he could for me and my brother to succeed. And and luckily we both of us have have kind of created our own paths. My brother’s one of the best club pro players in the world. I like to think I can hold my own a little bit. I find myself in an amazing spot at Tamarack Country Club. My brother’s doing great at Connecticut Golf Club and and and that’s because how our dad set us up. So, we miss him dearly, but he he certainly is, you know, one of the best club professionals to have ever done this. And uh we do our best every day to kind of keep that tradition going. And you know how that how special that is. We have Cameron Young and his father out here on the range. What what do you think that dynamic is like? How do you handle that in pressure moments, family to tournament play? I I have, you know, I’m fortunate enough to know Mr. Young and Mrs. Young quite well. And uh I was here earlier in the week and had an opportunity to talk to both of them. I mean, I knew how how proud my father was of us when we do silly little things like win a Connecticut Open or whatever it may be. Did you say silly little things like win the Connecticut Open? Very impressive. I I can’t imagine what Mr. Young and Mrs. younger feeling watching Cam, you know, represent Team USA and performing at a very high level this week. It’s It’s got to be I mean, I can’t I can’t imagine how proud they feel for about their son this week. And he’s he’s earned the right and he’s he’s showed up and he’s it’s amazing. We’ve got Matt Fitzpatrick on his way out. ready to get warmed up. I think Matt’s warm-up session might be interesting to watch today. I mean, I think Matt’s known as one of the more analytical, statistical driven guys out here with his yardages and his game planning and stuff. Um, as you can see, uh, Cam Cam has his track man out, Justin has his launch monitor out, Matt’s getting his launch monitor set up. I mean, these guys spend countless hours getting their yardages uh figured out. And I I think on a morning like this morning, it’s it’s less about their swing path and their face angles and things like that and really getting comfortable with with the yardages that they’re trying to hit because at the end of the day, that’s that’s the most important thing of scoring is hitting the ball the the intended yardage. So, I think that’s what they’re working on most with these track the launch monitors. Looking at that carry number right there. Very important, especially coming into those greens, knowing how far you’re going to carry it, where it’s going to land. Especially this week, the course has been playing. Obviously, it’s a little soft based on the weather. Uh spin. I think by from watching this week, it looks like spin control has been one of the most difficult things in terms of getting the ball the right distance. So, you know, I’m sure all these guys have thought about that last night to figure out how they can do better than they’ve done to this point with that. Um, but you’re going to see all these guys with their launch monitors working on that right now. Any changes players make when you’re dealing with something like that? Maybe switching a golf ball out or I don’t know if they’ll switch their golf ball, but I certainly I think maybe, you know, these guys have access to the best stuff in the world. You know, I I think maybe you might see a guy switch this a grind wedge or a loft to a wedge uh to create the kind of conditions that it is they’re looking for between their launch and their spin. And even game planning wise, you know, some of these guys, you know, you may not be able to hit full wedges. You’re going to have to adjust, hit some 3/4 shots, hit some knockdowns, some some some shots that are easier to control their distance because the ball’s not bouncing around once it’s on the green from from inside of 150 yards. So, I think you might see some guys really working on that this morning. And it’s great, we’re actually able to see the shots coming up on the top tracer range. So, we’re able to see those carry numbers. I don’t have another ball speed launch. I think one of the most impressive things I’ve standing here uh a lot this week is uh I pay attention to how much their balls curve. Cam’s hitting some shots that are that are curving about 6 ft. That one curved one foot. That was that had one foot of curve. So, um these guys certainly know how to hit the ball in the middle of the face and and hit it their intended distance. But that is so impressive to hit a golf shot that only curves one foot. All right, we’ve got Tommy Fleetwood on his way to the range. Let’s just talk about how long of a week this actually is. All the golf that has gone in. You throw in the weather. We’re out in the rain. I was on the shuttle back at the hotel last night and Tommy’s son Frankie is just sitting there passed out, so exhausted. It’s 8:00 p.m. So, it’s it’s not just the players, it’s the family, all the support that’s coming out. I think everyone has just put in a lot of hours to being here and being able to come and play another 18 holes. Just I can’t imagine uh and you add the emotional side of of how demanding the RED Cup is. When these guys get done today, they’re going to be they’re going to crash for a few days emotionally. I’m sure they’re having no issue this morning kind of getting the adrenaline going and getting up. But these guys are all so spent. They’ve been here, you know, longer than they’re usually at a golf tournament. I I’d argue the 24 best players in the world have kind of gotten into a routine of flying in on a Tuesday, playing their prom Wednesday. You know, these guys have all been here since last Friday, last Saturday, taking care of their families, uh, doing team activities, long days, you know, tough shuttle rides back at night, long days out here supporting their teams, the emotional roller coaster of what the Ryder Cup actually is. Yeah, these these guys are going to are absolutely going to crash tonight and spend the next few days in their beds and with their families relaxing. And we’re back on Cam Young who still has a wedge in his hand. That’s a long time to be spending on shipping grains, still focusing on short game wedges. I I think that’s really showing how important that part of the game is going to be today, especially to Cameron Young. Especially to our our people at home watching and our amateur golfers out who play golf. Cam Young’s reputation as one of the best drivers of the golf ball on the planet. Long, straight, hits it really, really hard. Exceptional long iron player, and he’s been hitting a wedge for the first, let’s say, 20 minutes of his warm-up here. I I think that kind of tells us everything that we need to know about what’s really important when you’re getting ready to play a round of golf. He’s getting as comfortable as he can with that bottom part of his golf bag, especially because we all know Cam Young knows how to hit a driver. So, I I assume that when he gets to driver, he’s just going to hit a few to get comfortable swinging really full speed cuz he knows if he has a good driving day, he’s going to have a lot of shots from 150 yards and in. And if he wants to beat Justin Rose, he’s going to have to hit these shots close and make some putts. So, that’s certainly what he’s working on now. And we’re able to see both of them, Cameron Young and Justin Rose hitting next to each other. About Justin Rose’s game in comparison. What are some of those major differences? Yeah. So, Justin Rose, I I I think watching this week, Justin Rose is sneaky, a long player. Um, he’s not as long as Cam, uh, but he certainly is someone, I mean, as you see Justin Rose right now, I’ve been out here all week. The setup he has right now with the training aid between his forearm, his alignment stick, and then he uses a second alignment stick to to put on his plane. I I haven’t seen him hit very many balls without this setup right here, which is also another something we can learn at home. Justin Rose has been one of the best players in the world for 20 years. And he doesn’t hit a golf ball without this setup right here. So, obviously, he’s always paying attention. You can see Mark Blackburn there, his coach, with them taking some video. Um he he’s certainly working on his fundamentals, making sure he’s on plane, making sure, you know, the his training aid on the forearms are giving him whatever feel it is that he’s trying to feel to create the ball flight he’s trying to get. But I haven’t seen him hit a shot all week without that setup. Such a great reminder to amateur golfers that really bottom line, those fundamentals and setup and grip are the most important thing. There’s absolutely no doubt. I mean, everyone out here watching is is like I we’ve said numerous times now, the best 24 players on the planet. And the reason for that is is because their grip, their setup, their ball position, whatever, you know, plane work and all those things that are in theory quite simple to these guys is what they focus most on on a day in and day out basis. That’s why they can perform at such a high level so many days in a row. And it’s for those of us watching at home and our the people that are not rider covers, we may not spend enough time on those fundamentals as we don’t we we certainly don’t spend as much time. No one spends enough time on the fundamentals and and these guys, this is exactly what they’re doing warming up for the last day of the RDER Cup is focusing on those things. So, and you mentioned Mark Blackburn, PJ professional over there with Justin Rose. What do you think about his style of coaching and how he approaches things? I’ve had the opportunity to actually spend a little bit of time with him. Um, he’s obviously one of the smartest guys on the planet when it comes to the golf swing. I know he’s very tied in with with TPI and ground forces and how we’re using the ground and using our legs. Um, I have had the opportunity to talk to him a bunch. I he is someone that understands that every player is a little bit different. So, I I haven’t necessarily seen him work on the same things with Justin Rose as he um I’ve seen him work with, say, Matt Fitzpatrick this week with pushing off the ground. They’re not doing exactly the same drills. So, Mark understands that everyone’s a little bit different and he has these core concepts that he thinks are important to being a very high-end player and a better golfer. And he takes those core concepts and personalizes it for all of his guys. So, nothing but respect for Mark Block. Mark Blackburn. He’s certainly one of the best best in the world at doing this. All right, a few players here on the range. That first match, Cameron Young and Justin Rose, followed by Justin Thomas and Tommy Fleetwood. We have yet to see Bryson, but Matt Fitzpatrick is on the range. All right, Mike. Well, thank you so much for joining us. This has been great. Love the insight. I’m looking forward to today. What’s your plan? Who are you going to follow? Um, I just hope I have the opportunity to to see Keegan out there, see my guys driving the carts out there. But I I I think I really want to see Cameron Young today. I’m going to do my best to kind of follow him around. Great. Appreciate you joining us. Thank you so much. Know that he cannot go today, which means Harris, who he was to play, is going to sit aside. And what that means is is that we are now no longer 11 and a half. All right, that was Michael Balo Jr. who joined us. Teammates with Keegan Bradley at St. John’s. Great insight from our PGA of America golf professionals. Thank you to Mike for joining us. that whole thing down. So, it’s now going to over Maroy walking down the stairs to the driving range. [Applause] We never open Britishbody. Roy Moy going up against Scotty Sheffller today. Be an interesting match to watch. Two of the best players in the world. You know, it’s it’s the eighth outing. Every two years we get together when we come find us. Beautiful weather from Europe over in the UK bunch of golfing friends got together we should do something fun. There wasn’t much atmosphere and golf wasn’t really the organized thing. We love singing songs in the UK, especially for more soccer girls. Uh, so we put a few songs here. We write about 20 to 30 songs for each single time. So you got two years to write something up in USA. American [Music] boys now I told you the British. Test test. Thank you. Now, it’s great to have Keith with us here today. Thanks for joining us. Pretty uh exciting spot we have to see everything going on. Alex, there’s no better spot than being next to you right here. Middle of the RDER Cup, Beth Paige Black. It’s going to be a fantastic Sunday and I I you know I know that we would love a couple more US points on the board but you know what there’s some head-to-head matchups here today that are really really interesting and some markets may be open on them that we can uh delve into. And that’s the thing I’m looking at all of these matches today and there is not one that is not exciting. Who do you think you’re most excited to see go headtohead? Well, I I think that the crowd is here to see the number one and number two player in the world, Scotty Sheffler and Rory Maroy go head-to-head, but you know, there are some very interesting ones. You know, first one that comes to mind is Matt Fitzpatrick versus Bryson. You know, David versus Goliath. I mean, I I I think that that that’s a really interesting market. And then, of course, you know, you have kind of like the two emotional leaders of these teams. You’ve got JT versus Fairway Jesus. That’s Tommy Fleetwood. I mean, that’s an incredible matchup. you know, both have kind of handled themselves with tremendous applause. Um, you know, Tommy so much with his irons and his flat stick and, you know, JT certainly handling the crowds. And, uh, you know, I’m sure he’d like to sing a couple more putts, too, for the Americans. And I love seeing Justin Thomas play in this kind of environment. I think he really thrives and and can get going when he has those roars from the crowd knowing it’s for his country. I I just love watching him play out here at a Ryder Cup. Well, I I think it definitely feeds him to come out and play in front of these types of crowds and play in a team environment. Um, I don’t know enough about his background to say if he was a kid, you know, he was really good at wreck basketball or anything, but there’s something about that that I think that, you know, really puts him in a position. I think he likes being in the team room. I think he really, you know, he has embraced being the emotional leader. And you know what quite honestly the way that Europe has gone about this for years and the success that they’ve had that you know they have these names like a Sevy like a Faldo like a Montgomery over the years that have been that sort of like you know standby leader that’s always been in the team room and and I think it’s very interesting that the US side if you look at it I mean Scotty Shufflers I I don’t believe he’s that type of guy he’s going to get up in front of the room you know Bryson does it in different ways I I think JT you know he is the veteran of this team and as such he has to accept that mantle and I and I think you know it’s he’s done it very well but at the same time we have to win more matches. Absolutely. And we’ll see what can get done today. 10 points is what’s needed for the US RDER Cup team. But Keith just give me a little bit about your background. Tell me how you became a PGA of America professional and and how you fell in love with the game of golf. So, I I was a green grass operator for over 20 plus years. Um, all up and down the eastern seabboard. Obviously, as a kid, I love golf. Um, I got into it. I was a bag rat when I was a kid in central New Jersey where I grew up. And I just stayed at the golf course. Um, like so many people tried to play, tried to do all of the things that, you know, certainly these guys did, but then they did successfully. But, you know, I went the green grass route for a very, very long time. And I finished up over in New Jersey at a place called Springdale Golf Club. Then postcoid um I looked at the marketplace and you know there’s always this you know the it’s at the risk of being redundant the PGA loves to say grow the game but I thought there was this huge huge opportunity in wagering in golf. So I started my own company called Read the Line and then this week we’re here you know promoting the game from a wagering perspective and you know again today the European team is up by seven but there are 12 really really interesting matches for us to delve into and you know just watching these guys warm up you know they’re taking it serious. I don’t think I I don’t think after Europe gets their number of points and then they they claim the cup or or if they go on a run, I mean, these things are going to be battled out to the bitter end and and I think that the markets reflect that and it’s going to be a really really interesting opportunity for people to stay engaged with this telecast on an NFL Sunday. And that’s why I’m excited to talk to you. Kind of walk me through some of the stats, the odds. What are we looking at today? Well, when you start to look at first the beginning of the matches and the lineups came out last night, you know, the RDER Cup does something very unique. They put the 12 names, Captain Keegan does, Captain Luke does. They put the 12 names in a row and then they match up. So, we don’t really know. Of course, in the fourth slot there, we did get Scotty Rory. So, there may have been a wink wink handshake. I don’t know. NBC pulled that one. I’m not quite sure. But, you know, at the end of the day, let I’ll take it, you know, because we certainly want to see that matchup. But, you see some of the other ones, the way that they got together. JT and Fleetwood is a great one. I already mentioned Fitz and Bryson. You know, two very different style players. You know, you got the Iceman and the Iceberg because you’ve got Patrick Hley versus Ludvig Oberg. Um, I mean, like really, really interesting matchups. And then you start to look at the way that the markets have already adjusted from last night. So, when the odds came out last night, I looked right away and then some of these matchups like um we’ll use Rory as an example. You know, Scotty comes out as a heavy favorite and then overnight because of the way that this match has gone overall and the way that Rory has handled himself with the crowd and the way he’s quite frankly played, right, you can see a lot of the like the market shifting towards Rory saying, “Oh, I think he can make this upset.” Well, geez, with Scotty 04 and0 still the number one player in the world. This is his best format, right? Singles. He’s going to go toe-to-toe with Rory and um I I think that’s really interesting how it all breaks down. Now, a match up we won’t be seeing today. I’ve just gotten word that Victor Havlin will not be competing here in our singles matches at the RDER Cup due to his neck injury, which also means Harris English will not be playing. His name was the one in the envelope. Oh, wow. So, we will not see that matchup today. Yeah, I was I was going to mention that if if if it came up while we were out here was that to be prepared if there was a shift because if Harris’s name wasn’t the one in the envelope, then someone else was going to be pulled from a match and then Harris would shift and then in the live markets you’d have an opportunity maybe Harris gets matched up with a guy that on the European side that’s been really really good. And we didn’t know that from last night, but but looking at the matchups right now, I mean, just the first one out, Cameron Young versus Justin Rose, you know, you’ve got the New York kid, rookie, and you’ve got someone who’s probably probably when we go to Ireland, Justin Rose is probably going to be the next captain after Luke Donald if he doesn’t go for three in a row. So, the Cameron Young versus Justin Rose. Cameron Young one of the best players in the field right now from TA Green. Conversely, Justin Rose pretty average TA Green, but the best putter on the property and we saw it all day yesterday. So, you have to ask yourself, do you go with Ryder Cup experience and the putter? It seems like it’s been working pretty well for the European side so far, or do you want to go with the support that you know Cameron Young is going to get from the New York crowds? And we’ve got top tracer range on Tommy Fleetwood hitting. Love seeing these numbers here. Yeah. What are you thinking about how we’re seeing Tommy play this week and just coming into greens and and his energy? Well, when you start to look at Tommy versus JT, um the big factor there, every everyone goes right away, Tommy’s undefeated this week. But why is he undefeated? He’s undefeated because he leads the 24 guys that are here in strokes approach. Now, we’re talking about the black horse, Beth Paige Black, you know, US Open venue, PGA Championship venue. This is the type of place that with the rough down, you could hit the green from anywhere. And Tommy’s been doing that and that’s what’s led the way. I mean, he combined with his partner against Bryson and Scotty yesterday. They had 12 subpar scorers. Unbelievable. Unbelievable playing. I mean, Rosie had six of the first eight, but then Tommy was right there for him down the stretch. So, I I you really got to pay attention to what he is doing with his ball striking. I mean, plus six and a half strokes through four matches. Ta Green incredible. whereas JT has been pretty pretty standard, pretty flatline from Ter Green, but the putter just hasn’t been there for him. So, if you’re looking at that matchup right there, um I definitely would have to lean the European side. So, which matches are you looking at that you think the US RDER Cup team will excel in where you’re thinking, okay, I’m pretty confident we’ll see some points on the board here. Well, we have to do something early. And even though I just went with Fleetwood there, you know, out of these first three matches, you’ve got to take down two of them. With the half point that just went to the European side, they now have 12. So they they only need two points to retain the cup. Remember the rules, you know, of engagement here is that the US needs 14 and a half points to win the cup, but Europe only needs 14. So two points away. Geez, I wish I felt better about all. and and I tend to look at things in a vacuum, but um Cameron Young is going to have the support. Can Justin Rose continue to make putts like he has been? Probably not. I do like Young in the first matchup. Um they both have very similar records. Cameron’s 21-0 in this Rder Cup. Justin Rose is 2-0. Uh he’s been relying on his putter. The markets reflect that. You know, DraftKings has last night they had Cameron at minus 140, which is a pretty heavy favorite in a in a head-to-head matchup. And then the action moved him to minus 145. So making him even more of a favorite. So the, you know, America behind DraftKings is thinking the same thing that we are, which is they like Stars and Stripes in that first matchup. Who do you think is our underdog today? Oo, our underdog. Uh, further down the list, there are a couple really good ones. And you got to start with my man JJ Spawn. I mean, here’s the guy wins the US Open. And you know to those of us that play daily fantasy sports on DraftKings or we go out and we bet the PGA Tour all the time, we know all about JJ Spawn. He has been a ball striking Jesse forever, right? And the thing was it was always the putter that had never really caught up to how well that he strikes the golf ball. So to have him this year all of a sudden the putter pops. That’s why we all know JJ Spawn now as a household name and as the winner at Oakmont. him up against Seph Straa who’s had a lot of time away from the golf course. I mean JJ Spawn, he’s got five straight top 25s on the PGA tour going back to the open championship and Seraka took some time off during the FedEx Cup playoffs because he just had a child. So I I like those I I do like that matchup right there for somebody who is probably a little bit of, you know, not he’s not Bryson, he’s not Scotty. Um, you know what? I I think the Saturday sitout guys, if you want to go with you want to go with Ben Griffin and Rasmus Hogard, um, Ben Griffin could have played a little bit better on Friday, but Rasmus Hogard really looked like he was outside his element. And what I think really, I really do like Ben Griffin coming back. Ben Griffin has been so consistent on the PGA Tour and Rasmus kind of cycles. If you look at the way that he plays, his results, his finishes tend to go up and down the leaderboard. Whereas Ben Griffin has just outside of the two wins, he’s just been Alex, he’s just been he’s been been totting top 10s like one after another after another. The Pro Core, he just lost to Scotty. It’s Scotty, right? I I I I do like that further down the board. And um I’m sure you want one more. Um I’ll go European side for all of our European viewers. We’ll take that. All right. All right. How about the Battle of Scotland? We’ve got Burns versus McIntyre, right? Get your kilt out. Who you going to root for? I think that Bobby Mack has really taken a step up in this RDER Cup. You know, it’s funny back in Rome, he was a rookie and they basically trusted him with four ball play, which means they you kind of get inserted with a veteran and it’s like, “Hey, come on over here, Bobby Mack. We’re just going to we’re just going to, you know, kind of ease your way into this whole big circus, right?” Well, now this time they’re putting him out in forsomes. They’re putting him out alternate shot. You know, he has a very strong record at one and one and his ball striking has been very, very good. I mean, since Rome, how many guys here of the 24 have two PGA Tour wins? Bobby Mack is one of those. And, you know, the market’s kind of reflected. He was much more on DraftKings last night. He was much more of uh basically an underdog to Burnsy and that basically flipped overnight. So now all of a sudden, Burns is the underdog and Bobby Mack is the favorite. Watching those markets, people know you got to pay attention to these things. Absolutely. Now we’re back on Tommy Fleetwood hitting his shots. We’ve got Justin Thomas. All right, Justin Thomas looking dialed. Very focused right now. All these guys right now very focused. They’re competing for their country. I mean, absolutely, Alex. And you you bring up a good point and you mentioned this earlier. What do we have to do early? Well, JT’s got to win. Cam Young’s got to win. We’ve got to get these first couple, you know, red flags up on the board and so people understand that are out on the golf course, hey, we can win some matches. We can get some points today. Justin Thomas, couple of RDER Cups, right? Undefeated in singles play and three and0 career right now. He’s got a tough task in Tommy Fleetwood, but you know what? If there’s one guy on this range that has proven on Sundays in a Ryder Cup, he can get the job done. JT is definitely one of them. flip the script with the putter for him. The ball striking is already there. And uh if he could putt as good as his shoes look, then man oh man, that we’d be we’d be in good shape. We’ve got Patrick Canley who just walked in as well. Well, you know, Patrick’s going up against the young phenom and looping over and he’s starting over there at the short game area. And unlike a lot of these matches, every four ball match, we aren’t generally chipping much, right? If you’re not making birdies, you’re not winning. But these guys, they’re going to miss some greens today. This is the black course. I know a lot of people have talked about the setup being too easy for the black. But number one player in the world coming down to us, Scotty Sheffler, the only man that can interrupt my saliloquy only right here, Scotty. Look at this. Ted Scott there. Uh, you know, you know what? You got to mention the crowd’s fired up today. You know, we’re down by seven, but everyone has really showed up. This range is absolutely surrounded. It’s a sea of red, white, and blue. You got to love it. I We’re not hearing any of the Olay Olay. I love it. And uh I mean Scotty Scotty Rory today. We saw Rory walk in a couple minutes ago. Scotty’s here now. I mean, that’s I mean that that that match is going to be 510 all the way around the rope line. Bryson Dshambo has also entered the range. You know, Bryson and Scotty have a lot of pressure on them today. You know, they’re both heavy favorites in their matches. Even you were saying Scotty over Rory, heavy favorite. Bryson heavy favorite over Matt Fitzpatrick. And both of them, you know, what are they one and seven right now in the RDER Cup? It hasn’t been their week. This is a good way to kind of flip the script and come back in the end and really say, hey, you know what? come Ireland, we’re going to be ready to roll. That’s for sure. And Bryson, just like Patrick, heading over to the short game area to kind of get dialed in and do his thing. And and it’s important, you know, as a PGA coach, there’s a lot. I mean, there must be what, 20,000 people, 10,000 people. I don’t know. I’m not good with numbers like that, but there’s a sea of people around this thing right now. watching all these guys warm up and to watch how they go wedge through their mid irons into their woods and then they walk off and they’ve probably already hit some putts because that’s on the other side of the the walkway. But to see guys like Canley and Bryson who are some of the best players in the world go over and hit the short game first and not just run out and start hitting their driver, there’s a good PGA lesson in all that. And we’ve got Scotty Shuffler over here with his coach Randy Smith. What do you think about this duo? Well, I mean, 15 wins clearly working. Yes. Well, how about this? In 2021, Scotty might have been the 12th or 11th guy picked on the team to go to Whistling Straits. We win 19 to9 in the RDER Cup, and he beats John Rom, who was the man of the match for the European side, handily on a Sunday. Since that time, he’s got 19 wins. He’s got four major championships. And it all comes, and it stems from his work growing up, longtime PGA coach and member, Randy Smith. Uh, fantastic duo there. You know, so much has been made of how he regrips the club before every swing, but you know what? Fundamentals count and fundamentals are gonna have to count today. You’re looking at a marketplace where you’ve got Scotty. [Music] We’ve got a flyover. I the funny thing is I told my jet not to pick me up till later, you know. You know, really when it comes to Sheffler, the sound of freedom. Oh jeez. The look of freedom, too. It’s I mean, there’s nothing like when those jets fly over. It kind of gives you chills a little bit. I mean, we heard some USA Chance start up right there. Absolutely. The Scotty market versus Rory Moy on DraftKings. Um, a lot of people bet Rory. Uh, that’s the way the week has gone. Rory’s number went from plus 120 down to plus 110 this morning. And I think as we get closer and closer to game time, I think that that number is going to continue to flatten. Um Scotty’s number basically stayed the same, which means that some people believe in number one in the world, but for the most part, it looks like more of the action on DraftKings is going towards world’s number two or you know, pretty much the leader of the European side. Well, Scotty has never lost in singles. I think this will be interesting. Absolutely. And you watch as he goes through the bag here, you know, one of the things that’s important to point out, and I’ll put my PGA hat back on for a second here, Alex, is that, you know, when these guys warm up on the range, they tend to warm up, you know, folks at home, if when you warm up, do you ever think about in your warm-up using the clubs you’re actually going to employ that day that you’re going to utilize when you’re out on the golf course? So, let’s say you go to your home course and you always on two or three of the par threes, you always use a seven iron or you use a sevenwood, whatever that club may be. Do you use that in your warm-up? Well, I guarantee you these guys JT side by side with Scotty are using clubs that they know that they are they’ve been using all week during practice rounds. They’ve been using during the matches and now that they’re playing their own ball, they really know which clubs to dial in with. And I was speaking earlier with Michael Bow Jr. about those sort of 30 to 70 yardd bunker shots. We see a lot of guys over there working on their short game. Spent a lot of time on wedges over here on the range. Well, I can give you a quick pro tip of the day, right? When it comes to a longer bunker shot than straight green side. So, if you’re like under 50 ft, then you pull out that highest lofted club, maybe it says sand wedge, maybe it says lob wedge, maybe it has a degree on it, 50, 58, 56, 60, and you use that for those green side shots. But sometimes you get a little further away. You get, you know, maybe 30 yards away. You can use different clubs. Just cuz it says sand wedge doesn’t mean that’s the only club you can employ there. You can use a pitching wedge. Take something with less loft. Make the same sort of swing. You’ll be amazed. It’ll come out lower, but it’ll fly further. It’ll have the same amount of spin. So, anyone out there that maybe is skipping the matches this afternoon or has a late tea time after this is all over, maybe somewhere out on the West Coast that’s streaming us right now. Like, try that today. Try a gap wedge. Try a pitching wedge on a longer bunker shot. And you just open it up like a regular bunker shot. It’ll just carry further and still get the same amount of spin. 100%. Alex, you would just open it up and you would just hit it just like you would a normal bunker shot when you’re close and it’s just going to it’s going to come out lower. It’s going to come out with the same amount of spin, but it’s going to fly a whole heck of a lot further. And we’ve got the Top Tracer range up. Scotty Sheffller and Rory Maroy numbers. I wonder why they picked those two to put up on the big board in front of us here from Top Tracer, right? Oh, look at that. Scotty looks like he’s hitting a mid iron and the ball speeds 107 miles an hour, 98 foot a apex, 137 yards carry. So, he’s probably hitting a nice little easy pitching wedge. And this is just one of the reasons I think the golf lovers love coming to the range. They get to see these numbers. They get to see the players up close all at once lined up. You’re getting a lot of information from being a spectator on the range. I mean, Alex, like so many men and women of the PJ of America, PJ professionals, I’ve taught the game for over 10,000 hours. You know, I have my Gladwell, you know, quota. And I I I tell you what, you know, the fact that now the fans can come out and they can look at all of this. Um, it’s absolutely addicting. I mean, I I didn’t get into the wagering markets because I didn’t like numbers, right? So, the fact of the matter is is that it it’s just a ton of fun for the fans that become out here and be able to do this. There’s tons of apps that are available. You go to pja.com and you could just just, you know, Google search an article on on pja.com and just try to figure out, you know, what you get an app on your phone and it it’ll give you numbers. It it it’s just a it’s a wonderful time in golf. There’s just so much of a blending of technology. And you can see these guys out here. Look at all of them. They all have their Trackmen or their um their launch all the different various brands of launch monitors out here. It it’s it’s really kind of cool. And to be quite honest with you, without those devices, we wouldn’t have the analytics that we do. And then these marketplaces wouldn’t be as sharp or as smart or as accurate as they generally are. And just with those grains being a little bit softer, all the rain we saw earlier in the week, talk about how important those carry numbers are going to be and also kind of the carry verse total number you see on a Trackman unit or a distance unit and what amateurs might not understand about carrying total. Well, let’s go right into those first two matches, right? When you talk about the ball striking of Cam Young and you’re talking about the ball striking of Tommy Fleetwood, two guys that are really hitting their irons well. When the greens are soft, you not only have to control your trajectory, but you’ve got to be able to control your spin rates and and that’s great that that comes, you know, everyone here can kind of see that on the big board, but these guys, they’re studying that all the time with like real life feel. And what’s interesting about that from my PGA coach perspective is that when you are practicing, how often do you change the speed of your swing so you’d hit the ball with less spin or more spin? You know, if you’re normally, let’s say, 150 yards from the hole, and for you at home, that’s a six or a seven iron, right? Why not go with the longer one, swing a little easier? You’re going to put less spin on the ball. If it’s wet and the green is really sloped from back to front, then it won’t pull off as much. These guys make those adjustments on the fly. And as a result, it’s very, very interesting. Now, Keith, as we wrap up, leave us with a final thought. Which group are you wanting to follow today? Who do you want to see up close and personal going headtohead? Well, I do appreciate uh Luke Donald and Keegan Bradley for putting Bryson and Fitz back to back with Scotty and and Rory. Uh I will be meandering back and forth between those two. Um there are a couple later in the day though. I I I really am interested to see JJ Spawn and Sept Straa right in front of them. You’ve got there’s no doubt the Spanish bull John Rom is ready to roll today. He’s got a great competitor on the American side in Xander Schoffley. No doubt about that. And then deeper in the day for sure I I think I I think both guys that sat out yesterday would be a really fun match. Raspogar probably some of the the besides Bryson some of the most ball speed in the field and I think Ben Griffin comes back and you know what I’m going to say this much too. I like Ben Griffin’s odds and I like Ben Griffin to take him down today. Go USA. All right. Thank you Keith Stewart. Appreciate your time. Thanks so much Alex and uh thanks so much for all you do for the PJ of America. Big thank you to Keith Stewart for joining us. All those betting odds. Love to see it. Some great matchups today. Ryder Cup singles Sunday at the RDER Cup. Now, next up, Kathy Kim joining me. Very exciting to have you here on the range. All the best players in the world. Front row seat to it. This has been amazing. What a great week it’s been. All right. You’re here with PGA of America. Just tell me a little bit about your background. Yeah, so I’m currently the director of golf instruction at Baltimore Country Club. Shout out Country Club. Um, I’ve been teaching for a long time and I love watching professional golf. It is like there’s nothing nothing better. We’ve got our matchups for today. Who are you going to be looking for to do something great out there? Who are you most interested in? You know, I am really pulling for Scotty to make a turn. I think I think he has it in him. I know he’s been rooting for the team the whole week. So, I’m really hoping he’s able to pull it out for us. Undefeated in singles thus far in RDER Cup matches and I think what Keegan said yesterday was pretty impressive that he has the weight of the world on his shoulders. I mean, he’s coming in as the number one player in the world. There’s a lot of responsibility that comes with that. A lot of pressure of of representing your country and getting something done. Yeah. And you know what? Match play is so different than just regular stroke play. If you haven’t played in a match play event before, I highly recommend you try because it is such a different mindset. The way that you prepare is a different mindset. And you know, it’s not all about the end score when it comes to match. Like you can blow up on a hole but then make a comeback on the next one. So you’re absolutely right. in the decisions you’re making too. Depending on where the matches stand, you might uh go for a green that you wouldn’t rather have otherwise. Yes, absolutely. And I feel like in match play, you’re typically a little more aggressive, right? Because you’re not looking for that end score. So, um, a lot more aggressive play. And I think that’s what’s different for us this week. And now you’ve done a lot for amateur golfers just in what you put out on social media, Tik Tok, Instagram, YouTube. like just tell me a little bit about that passion you have and getting to share your love of the game of golf. Yeah, so I actually started uh social media with a mission of growing the game, making it a little bit more of an equal access sport for all. I grew up on a MUN course. That’s where I started golf. Um I’m very fortunate to be where I am now, but really that was the mission and that continues to be the mission is to have everybody try golf at least once and if they need a couple tips here and there, I’m I’m there for them. And I love watching your videos. I pick up tips of my own from there, which is great. And now we’re getting to see some of these players hit on the range. Who do we have there? There’s Rory Maroy. Looks like he’s just getting bag situated. Now we’ve got Bryson Dshambo. What do you think about this guy’s game? I I’ve heard some really loud applauses for him. Cheers. I I think this guy is a favorite just in terms of everyone’s excited. I love the show, too. I think his energy is uh needed for Team USA for sure. I love how analytical he gets just from a teaching perspective. He documents everything so it’s very easy uh for us to follow how he’s doing. Um and you can see there he has that is that a flight scope there with him that he’s using to check his an uh analytics there. So every player I think on this range will carry some sort of technology with them just to make sure that they are dialed in. Um, one of the things that I noticed with amateur golfers is when they go out and practice, they’re looking at their total yardage for each club, uh, these guys are actually looking mainly at their carry yardage, right? And every golf course is obviously different. Um, the environment is different from daytoday. So, looking at that carry yardage and figuring out what that carry yardage is for each club in your bag is going to be really helpful. And you mentioned Bryson with the analytics. I’ve seen him out here every day. He has someone whose job it is to carry that flight scope and it goes with him on the golf course to the short game area. He’s using it for every shot he hits on this golf course in preparation for a round like today. Yes, absolutely. And um for somebody like him, that’s just the way that he thinks. He’s always been that way. You can tell that in his golf swing as well. It’s not the traditional golf swing. Um he certainly has a lot of the great components of a wonderful golf swing that we see, but um it does look a little bit different comparative to some of the European players who who do carry a little bit more of a traditional swing. And we’re able to see all of those numbers here on the top tracer range from Bryson Dshambo. So what are you looking at here? What do you find interesting? Yeah, so I I like to see the flat carry. Like I talked about earlier, that flat carry is really important um because we’re able to see at altitude what the ball is doing. And we had a little bit of rain last night, so it’s probably going to be a little more softer around the greens. Um he’s going to be able to really start going at those pins today. My gosh. And that ball speed is incredible, isn’t it? 146 miles hour. 148 a couple shots ago. It is very impressive, especially everything he does off the golf course as well to prepare. Absolutely. Absolutely. So, what do you think about the kind of off the golf course preparation in terms of taking care of your body and preparing yourself for golf? Look at how many holes these guys are walking this week. This is a great example of how important that is. Yeah. And this is coming off of a season, right? It’s not like they took a break and, you know, they were prepping for this for months and months and months. They’re coming off of a full season. You have to stay uh healthy. You got to make sure your back is working, right? Um and a lot of walking. a lot of walking and more importantly there, you know, the mental toll that it takes for you to go through this match play event is is just wild, especially at the end of a REDR Cup week, a Sunday. They’ve been through a lot emotionally, physically. It’s impressive to see them. I mean, again, getting these kind of ball speed numbers, 155 miles per hour from Bryson. That’s sweet. Sweet. So, they’re able to keep going. It’s really impressive. Yes, absolutely. Okay. So, I I want to talk a little bit about the the way that a lot of these guys are practicing. So, a whole bunch of them have some sort of training aid, and it usually they do have some sort of like alignment stick or something on the ground. Um, and I don’t see a lot of amateurs bring any kind of training aids to the driving range when they’re practicing. Um, you can almost guarantee that they will bring something to these practices. uh whether they’re just practicing for the day or while they’re prepping for an event like this or a match. Um and the alignment sticks are great. It’ll give you an idea of where you’re lined up. Sometimes uh your eyes will miscue and you’ll end up lining up way more right or way more left than you think you are. And this is a great way for you to just double check that is using an alignment stick on the ground. That’s a great note. just putting emphasis on the fundamentals, just some of those key things to make sure you’re starting the day exactly how you want to. And what better place to do it than on the range where you can get things dialed in and know you’re starting the day out with a good setup. Yeah, absolutely. And I did hear that these guys are doing their normal tour warm-ups. So, it’s not like they’re doing anything different for this week. They’re following their normal routine. Um, a lot of these guys will have down to the number of golf balls that they’re warming up with dialed in. So, they don’t deviate from that. It’s not like you’re going to see uh Justin Rose, for example, hit 81 balls one day and then 200 the next morning. So, uh definitely keeping to routine this week. Now, we’ve got Bryson pulling out his driver. We’re going to see him. Here we go. Hopefully the range is long enough for Bryson. Look at that. Yeah. Well, there goes I mean my total number was passed I don’t know 10 seconds ago. 325 flat carry. That is spectacular. And with a 12° launch. That is amazing. Now, just in terms of where you’re warming up, left side of the range, right side of the range, talk about that and and just for those at home who like to have a good dialed in practice, what the difference is. Yeah, Alex, that’s actually a really good point because if you end up on any extreme, it is going to change the way that you are looking at your target. So, for example, where Bryson is right now, this is really going to force him to draw golf balls. Um whereas if you’re on the far right side of the range, it’s going to force you to fade golf balls. So um it really will change the way that your perspective is as you’re warming up. So if you can get in the middle somewhere, great. Uh the way that they have it set up here for us this week, you can see, you know, rightly so. They have the US and they have Europe split up on either side. So yeah, same goes for the T- box, too, depending on what shot shape you want to hit. Another thing I think gets overlooked. Yeah, absolutely. And um I tell my students, you know, if you are trying to avoid water on the right side, then go over to the right side of the tea box and tee it up there because it’s going to open up more of the left side of the hole. And vice versa. If you need to avoid something on the left, go ahead and go that direction. Um I don’t love it when students try to fix, you know, the slice that you tend to have. If you try to overfix it during the round, uh you’ll probably end up worse. So using more of a course management strategy to try to uh offset a little bit of what you have going on for the day I think is going to be really helpful. Yeah. The visual you get off the tea, the visualization of seeing your shot. I mean there’s just so many things that go into it and then you can have in your control outside of where the ball is going to end up. That is important. Absolutely. And I think a lot of these guys um you know they are so talented that they are able to hit pretty much to any height that they want at any speed. And that’s actually I think what’s really overlooked uh with these guys is if for example if you see them on the chipping green they’re able to slow down their swings and really control that trajectory however they want to. And I think that’s where the magic is. Still on Bryson, a crowd favorite. Yes, absolutely. Alex, you hit it pretty far. I’ve seen your swing before. It’s funny to hear you say that when I’m watching Bryson and his numbers, so I appreciate that. But, uh, in comparison here, it doesn’t feel like much. He’s in a total different league of his own, right? All right. Now, just talk to me about mentality going into today. Obviously, a huge part of the golf game. You’re PJ of America member, and you obviously teach golf, but tell me just about how much you’re teaching the mental side as well when you go through a lesson. Yeah. You know, it’s um one of the things that I think is most common with lesson takers is they try to perfect everything on the range and then the second, you know, you know this, you go out to go play and all of a sudden everything breaks down. You’re like, “What the heck just happened?” Um, and it really does happen. Uh, you have to practice the mental side of being in trouble situations. These guys, even though they hit near perfect shots every single time, they’ve been in your position before, they’ve been in the trees before, they’ve been in the bunkers countless numbers of times. So to be able to put yourself into that position and instead of saying, “Oh god, not again.” You go, “Okay, how can I change this today and how can I make it better?” Very important today to go in with a great mindset, stamina. Yeah, they got nothing to lose today. Like we are I team USA. Let’s do it. It’s going to be an exciting match up. Who are you interested in seeing today? I mean, Tommy Fleetwood has been a favorite for me this this season. And I think he’s just been incredible and after he he had his first win on tour, it’s like all floodgates have opened and he has just been spectacular. Um, you know, JJ Spawn, he had a great season as well. He’s not the longest player, but um, when his short game is on, it’s on, which we sure know that from Oakmont. What a punt. Oh my gosh, I know. To steal the US Open win, it was unbelievable. Um, it’s unfortunate that um, our last match is not going to be happening today due to an injury. Uh, but it is what it is. And Rosie, Rosie is another favorite. I feel like Rosie has just been such an example and he’s been such an inspiration for so many years. And we’ve seen that half point been added to the Europeans and the Americans now. 5 to 12. Yeah. So for the Europeans. Yes. Yes. Now, how about uh the energy just going out for those first few matches? how important it will be. Yeah. For the US team. I think um that’s going to be everything like that is going to set the tone for the rest of the day. If if we get those first groups going out just hot right out the gate, I think that’ll definitely be what we need for the day. And for these players who are out there, you can hear the roars from across the golf course. It’s a big piece of property, but you’re hearing it. Yeah. So, I think getting some roars early in the day, that’ll really fuel some of our final matches. Yeah, it’s been it’s been wild to be able to hear it across the golf course cuz it’s a really big piece of property. So, it’s been it’s been really amazing. And you mentioned match play just being so different from a typical stroke play event. Yes. Especially today, you know, these matches could either end pretty early, they could go to 18. We just don’t know. Right. Right. And it’s um you know if you’re standing on anywhere after the 15th hole you might not see anything which is what makes it more exciting like you have to be in it hole by hole. The sounds of the strikes are just I mean like there’s nothing better. and seeing Bryson hit his driver. We’ve seen him nearly hit the green on one almost every day, every match. So impressive. Absolutely. I played here a couple years ago. Um and I was pregnant when I played here. I was just praying that I would just put it somewhere in the fairway because the rough was so long and I didn’t want to hit it out of the rough. Now Kathy, just to wrap us up, tell me who you may might be walking with today. Uh who are you going to be uh just outside the ropes with? Yeah, I’m going to be doing my best to just keep an eye on all of the matches. I mean, I really like what you said, you just don’t know when it’s going to be over. So, holding on to every moment today is going to be really important to me. Appreciate you. Thank you for joining us, Kathy Kim, PJ of America Professional. Thanks, guys. Big thank you to Kathy Kim for joining us now with us live from the range. Hish, how are you? You’ve been seeing the players warm up a bit. What are your thoughts? Hi, Long. Just really happy to be here. One of the biggest days in our sport and uh one of my favorite places to be on the golf course as well on the practice range before probably the the biggest round of these players lives. So really happy to be here with you today. And Hish I think we really have seen that today the amount of fan support we have behind us just watching these players and how interested they are in the game of golf. Yeah, exactly. I mean we’re in one of the biggest places for golf in the country, New York State. So many avid golfers out here uh that can learn a lot from just watching these great players on the driving range here at Beth Page. And you’re a PJ of America golf professional now here on the East Coast from LA. Just talk about the fan support and what it’s like out here on Long Island. Yeah, it’s been great. I just made the move out here from Los Angeles this year, uh working at Arcola Country Club representing the New Jersey section of the PGA. Um it’s been a little different, but love the support that the fans are giving out here. um very passionate uh golfers, very passionate fans and you can they hear them this week at Beth Page. Absolutely. Now we’ve got just a few players on the range now. Patrick Kantley, we’ve got Ober who we are going to live on our feed. Looks like we have Rahm over there warming up his short game. Uh we saw some fantastic uh pitch shots and chip shots from Rombo yesterday out there on the golf course. uh looking to show up again today and uh have some more fireworks out there to get some points for team Europe. Now, what do we think about this matchup? Patrick Kantley over there. Yeah, this is one of the highlights of the day, I think. Uh two of the best ball strikers in our sport. Levig Oberg, probably one of the prettiest swings out there. Um he’s got amazing stature. He’s he’s 6’3. Keeps a lot of width and length in his swing. Um it gets through to his left side really well and strikes the ball perfect. So really looking forward to see these two go at it today. And if Patrick Countley gets his putter rolling like we’ve seen him do in the past, uh he can really show up for team America and get some points on the board early. There’s our matchup right there. 12:46 p.m. Eastern. Can watch on the broadcast. We’ve got Kantley now. I love watching his routine, especially uh just some of the differences, too, when you see everybody lined up side by side. He’s got his coach Jamie Mulligan. We’ve got the trackman out as well. Yeah. So, one thing that we noticed with Patrick, he is very deliberate in his game. Um, he has his coach Jamie Mulligan out here representing Virginia Country Club in Long Beach, California. Um, as you’ll noticed with Patrick’s move, beautiful tempo, really balanced finish, and he likes to play a little draw out here on the golf course, which at Beth Paige, uh, suits the black course really well. Um, so you’ll notice on the range here, not always are these players just hitting stock 7R and stock shots. They’re working through their bags. They’re playing different targets, different ball flights, hitting different windows, so when they get out into the golf course and competition, they’re ready and focused uh to hit that shot that the ball calls for there. So, and you know Jamie a bit. Just tell me a little bit about his coaching style and what you’ve seen. Yeah, Jamie’s uh I haven’t had a chance to get him to know him personally, but from stories, he’s he’s a fantastic guy. He’s very relaxed and and down to earth, and he kind of brings that into his coaching. He’s he’s straightforward and to the point, and I think uh it’s shown with Patrick’s game. He he doesn’t have to give Patrick a whole lot. Um this is someone he’s been working with his uh almost his entire life. Uh another Los Angeles native in Patrick Kentley. So, I think he’s um one thing that you’ll notice with a lot of these top instructors and and these PJ tour players is they’re they’re focusing on some small things, the fundamentals of the game. Um so, it’s something that I think a lot of us amateurs can learn from is, you know, even these best best players in the world are focusing on their grip, their posture, their fundamentals. And as we see here, it looks like Jamie Mulligan, he’s putting the club on his right side. What I’m seeing is it looks like he’s he’s not trying to get his right hip back too much, staying kind of more centered and stable with his lower body and help him move to his left side and strike the ball nicely. And just personality match up between a coach and a player, obviously a part of the PJ of America. Just tell me what that’s like uh finding the right coach and uh working with your students. Yeah, it’s it’s so important to have the right fit. um you know you have a lot of personalities on tour and personalities and coaches. So it’s it’s very important that you the coach can understand your learning style how you can pick up any feedback from your PGA coach. So it’s something that I encourage any amateur out there to do find a PGA coach in your area that fits your game and and can uh help you learn all the basics of golf to to help you play your best. All right, still on Patrick Kantley hitting on the range. Yeah, beautiful swing there by Patrick. Need a strong start by Team USA today and I think they put him up in the first matches uh for a reason. He’s had history of winning matches and single matches in the RDER Cup and I know Captain Keegan’s hoping for the same thing today. Now, great to see them side by side there on our screen. just some of the similarities and differences about how they approach the greens, how they approach Beth Paige Black. What do you think about this golf course? What are some key takeaways? Yeah, I mean, this golf course is a brute. It’s it’s a long course over 7,500 yards. Um, it definitely sets up to a more right to left ball flight. We saw that this week. There were a lot of pins tucked on the left. A lot of players working draws into pins and draws off the tea. So, you’ll see guys like Levig and and Patrick here on the range working that ball flight here. Um, one thing I love about Levig’s golf swing is he uses that stature to his advantage. So, you see him making some swings. Just take a look at how much width he creates on his back swing. Doesn’t have much wrist set to the top and one of the prettiest tempos and rhythm in golf. So, something I’m sure he’s focused on on the range is finding that rhythm through his bag. So, he’s confident under pressure today out there uh during the final match. All right, we’ve got our top tracer numbers on the screen for us. What are you finding interesting here? Yeah, we take a look at um how high they hit the ball. That’s always something I’m I’m amazed at in in coming out to these PGA events is just the sheer height, the apex, 123 ft. Uh not sure what that is that Patrick’s hitting. Looks like a wood of some kind. Um but it’s something that they really need. I know it’s a little softer out here at Beth Page this week, but these guys are used to playing firm far screens. They need to get their descent angle steep, get that ball up in the air with a nice spin rate to land it soft and hopefully attack some pins today. Now on the range, very interesting than a typical tour event. A little quieter with less players in the field. Yeah, we see just the one match up here. I know those later matches, they’re important. They’re probably spending some time on the putting green now, working with their physio teams, making sure their body’s in the right shape to go and play out there today. And you’re right, we’ve seen the players spend a lot of time on short game over around the greens. Something that’ll be critical, especially today when every point matters. Absolutely. Yeah, we’ve seen TA Green. Both teams are are playing some phenomenal golf. I think what the real difference maker has been is is on the greens this week. Team Europe has been making a lot of putts and uh that’s what wins these golf tournaments and match play. You got to always anticipate your uh playing competitor is going to make that next shot. So uh USA needs to step up, make a few more putts. They’ve been close this week. I think if they get up to a strong start, uh, you know, and and win some matches in the middle of the the group there, we got a chance for it to come down to these last matches in the day here. And here we go. John Rom. Interesting. I see AirPods in his ears. I don’t know what he’s listening to. Have to ask him. But yeah, he’s working on uh that short little shot out of the rough. Be critical today. And quite a difficult shot as well. very difficult shot. You know, I’m guessing uh Sunday at the Ryder Cup Cup, they’re tucking some pins. So, um this might be a place he’s he’s going to end up. One thing about playing out of the rough like this, you’ll notice here, you’ve got to come in with a steep angle of attack, you need a lot of loft that gets the ball up in the air, landing softly on the greens. Although these greens are a little softer this week, uh they’re still quick. So, anything that you can do to get the ball to stop quickly out of that rough is helpful. Now, John Rom, what a player to have on your team, not only for his golf and mechanics, but also just his personality and what he brings to the table. That’s right, Alexandria. Yeah, he brings a lot of fire to the team Europe. Um, you know, I think a lot of people rally behind him. He’s carrying that passion that Sevy Balisteras carried for team Europe and uh plays with a chip on his shoulder. He’s going out there to win. Um, I’m sure he’s feeling the same way today. We’ve got both Scotty and John over on the short game area. John about to hit few other different shots around the greens. Yeah, that’s another thing we can learn from watching these these great players on the range is uh they’re not static in their warm-up. They’re moving around. and they’re hitting lots of different shots, playing to different pins, uh getting comfortable cuz it’s very uh it’s not often that you’re hitting the same shot over and over on the golf course, right? So, playing to different targets and getting comfortable on different turf conditions, different lies, I think, is really helpful, not just for these players, but for any golfer at home. Now, John Rom, just talk a little bit about his game and what you see and some of the things that we might get to see today. Yeah, so we’ve all seen John Ram’s golf swing. It’s a little shorter. He’s obviously we know about his limitations with his his right ankle. Um, but he’s done some tremendous swings, uh, moves in his game to to get to the point he is, uh, major winner. And I think it’s just something to learn from is playing within your limitations. He’s worked with his swing coaches to to understand what he can do with his body in his golf swing and um play to the best of his ability. And we’ve seen that out here this week and in PGA events in the past. So we see Rom walking from Chipping Green over to his spot on the range. Zoned in. Yeah. Getting a few more players down here now. Looks like JJ Spawn just walked in. another great player that I think can really show up for Team USA today. And then we’ve got Dave Phillips, John’s coach, setting up Trackman behind him. Yeah, you’ll notice almost all of these players are using a ball flight monitor today just to get any feedback they can uh so they’re ready when it really matters on the golf course. Now you were mentioning just some of the limitations Rom with his ankle, but talk about as being a PJ of America coach. That is a huge part of becoming the best golfer you can be is knowing what some of those restrictions are and having someone that can walk you through that and you might think, “Wow, I’m just not able to have the swing I want to have.” And you don’t know why. Absolutely. Yeah. Yeah, I think it’s such an important part of being an instructor is understanding first that any limitations or mobility issues a player might have and using that to structure your approach and how you teach them. Um whether it be with TPI and mobility work, I think a player can really improve their golf swing from becoming a bit more mobile and just working with an instructor to help them understand the move that they can make and what they’re able to do. We’ve got the Sebstraka JJ Spawn match at 108. Yeah, this is a match I’m really looking forward to. Both guys have played some great golf this week. JJ Spawn picking up a big win for Team America at the end of the day yesterday and uh looking to do the same thing today. But he’s coming up against a great player in Step Striker. Uh we’ve seen him out here on the PJ tour. He’s comfortable playing in America in these really pressure-packed moments. And an important shot that was in point that we saw JJ clutch for the US RDER Cup team. That was huge. Clutch birdie in the past. We’ve seen him make some big putts on 18 in the past US Open this year. Um he’s hoping it doesn’t make it to 18 today, but I think it’s someone that Team USA can really rally behind this week. And I think that is a big difference uh just for being one of the greatest players in the world is knowing how to get it done when it matters the most. We saw JJ do it at Oakmont with that long putt, but being able to perform under pressure, which every single one of these players today will have on them. Of course, I mean, this is about as much pressure as it gets in golf. You’re not just playing for yourself, you’re playing for your teammates and you’re playing for your country. So, uh, those pressure moments are what these players live for, and they want those those moments. They want that opportunity to to make that part when it matters most. And we know the Europeans do such a great job of being a team. We’ve seen it year after year. But I think the US RDER Cup team has done a great job of coming together just on and off the course this week. It’s been impressive. Absolutely. And credit to Keegan Bradley here. What he’s done uh while still playing and and playing very well. DJ tour to uh get all these play players together. Um I I’ve heard the camaraderie in the locker room this week has has been phenomenal and uh a lot of credit to Captain Keegan there. I think he’s done a terrific job and someone that Team America should be really proud to have as their captain. Back over to John Rom, the top tracer range. Great to see these numbers come up. Yeah, what you’ll notice here is they’re looking to to hit some certain numbers with their wedges. Usually working up from 30, 40 yards up to almost a full move. And what I really like to see is um with that, you see that apex at 48 ft hitting flat ball flights with their wedges. Um something that’s important here now that the greens are a little softer, you don’t want anything coming in too much spin so it can attack the pin and stay and land close to the hole. Dave Phillips, his coach, one of the founders of the Titus Performance Institute out in California, Carl’sbad. Yeah, exactly. Obviously someone that that’s been able to work really well with with John Ram and and his limitations he might have with his body. Um, one of the best in the business by far. Ball speed 79 miles per hour. Just looking through those numbers. launch apex hang time. You see here he’s starting to hit his different windows now. He’s getting that launch a little bit higher. Ball flight a little higher, playing some different shots. Uh that’s always one of my favorite things to do is coming down here to the range. Uh seeing these different shots these players can hit out here cuz a lot of times this golf course, especially course like Beth Page Black, really calls for an arsenal of shots in your bag. Xander moving from the chipping area over to the range. Yeah, Sander, another guy clutched up with JJ Spawn yesterday, claiming that point for Team USA in the afternoon, hoping to do the same thing uh today. It’s a player that’s had a terrific year last year and someone who’s made some great strides with his putting. Coach Dere Derek UA out of San Diego’s helped him a lot with that. And I think that’s something Team America needs to go their way this week. They need guys like Xander Shawley, JJ Spawn, Patrick Hley there to make some putts and get some points on the board early. Xander and Patrick both very good friends. They spent their practice rounds playing together. They even did alternate shot there on Wednesday, which was great to see them already getting in the format of what they want to do on the golf course. Absolutely. Yeah, I’m sure that’s something they relish. They spend all year on tour together, but never really get to play together as a team. So, uh, it’s been great seeing them out there and it was a partnership that we all kind of saw coming just from their history together in in former Rder Cup events and, uh, they’re hoping to, I’m sure, do the same thing in in 2027. Xander starting out on the range with a wedge. Important way to work your way up in the bag. Yeah, of course. Um, one thing you’ll see all these players do, they’ll grab a lob wedge or a lofted club out of their bag. Start small. Um, they’re finding the low point in their swing here. They’re finding some rhythm that they can keep and maintain through the bag, gradually working up to a longer distance. Now, the Shaley ROM matchup today. What do we think about these two? Not only just their games, the personalities. Yeah, another one I’m really excited to see out there. Um, you know, they’re both phenomenal ball strikers. I think what’s going to really be key is is who can get that uh their ball in the fairway off the tea. It’s one thing Ram’s done great this week. He plays a nice little fade off the tea. Uh can control that ball really well. Something Andrew is hoping to do today as well. If you can get that ball closer to the hole, give yourself some chances, put your pressure on your opponent, um you’ve got a good chance to win your match. We’re able to see them hitting side by side there on our screen. Love the demeanor. They both feel very relaxed and comfortable. Yeah. One thing that you’ll notice the pace at which they warm up out here. They’re not raking balls. They’re not hitting one after another. They’re taking their time. They’re looking at some feedback from their ball flight monitor, going through their basics, their fundamentals, and keeping a nice uh rhythm to everything that they’re doing today that can just set up and transfer to the golf course. Exactly how you said, we see a lot of them standing back, doing their routine over shots here on the range. Uh something I think that gets overlooked. Absolutely. Yeah, especially once a little pressure creeps in. I see it in my game and amateurs as well. If you have a routine that you can stick to, um whether it be a pre-shot routine or even just a little saying or a breathing technique that gets you comfortable in the moment, um they’ve hit the shot thousands of thousands of times. Um so it’s just another day for them if they stick to their routine and hit their shot. I saw a video of Tiger Woods last night and he was talking about how important the routine is because when you get into your routine, you’re thinking about step one, step two, step three, and not the result. Exactly. Yeah. Focused on the process rather than the outcome, which I I think is very important. Sometimes easier said than done, but Exactly. Yeah. It’s it’s tough, especially when you have 50,000 fans uh yelling and screaming in support of you. So, um just to stay focused out there, stick to that routine is is so helpful. Schoffley and Rom those numbers side by side. Hey Mish, how about the mentality here today? Yeah, it’s it’s it seems positive. I know America Team USA has a lot to do, but they seem confident in their practice. Um, it’s it’s a little quiet down here on the range, but I think the fans are anticipating some some fireworks out there on the golf course. And just any golf enthusiast can really be excited about the matchups that we have out here today. And what’s that like going into a match when you’re down like this knowing that every shot will be so important? It’s it’s tough. You know, they they have to show up when it when it really counts. So, I think like I said, they they’re playing they’ve been in this moment before. They’re playing for their country. They’re playing for their teammates, but they’re also playing for themselves. You know, they don’t want to go out and lose a match and and give up a point on the board. So, I think they’ll be able to show up today and play with some pride and some passion and and do their best to to help their team. So, Xander still working on some wedges. You’ll notice probably about almost 50% of the shots hit here on the range by these uh great players are are with their wedges, their short irons. Huygard making his way just like the others starting over at the chipping green before he will move to the range. Yeah, we haven’t been able to see much golf out of Rasmus this week. Uh really looking forward to see how his game shows up today. Obviously, Team Europe had his twin brother last RDER Cup, Nikolai. Um I’m sure that family’s happy knowing that another brother, another family, he’s got member team Europe stars um to add to their great playing career. And Xander, who’s two and one, but he’s never lost in Ryder Cup singles. I think important to know, especially as the player, that they’ve done this before, they can do it again. Absolutely. Yeah. Just that history, that experience is so important and it’s something that John Ram knows as well. You know, I’m sure John Ram’s seen that record and says, “Hey, I want to be that guy that goes and beats Xander today.” So, I think that’s going to be a fantastic match. Every matchup today on the board will be exciting. That’s true. Yep. There’s going to be some fireworks out there and um I mean one match that’s about to get going. I’m really excited to see probably the two best players in the world, Scotty Sheffler, Rory Mroy going at it. So if you don’t like that, you’ve you know it’s this is what golf is about and and really happy and and excited to see these players compete together today. As a huge golf fan, I was waiting for those pairings to come out. I could not wait to see who would be going up against each other. Are you going to follow the golf out on the course today? What’s your plan? I am. Yeah. So, after I watch these players on the range here, I think I will follow that Scotty Rory match. Um, it’s a match up we’ve been hoping to see and we’ve seen in the past in the PJ tour. Uh, another match really excited about Matt Fitzpatrick, Bryson Dshambo. A couple players that, uh, we know have been really working on their speed and and like to hit the ball far and especially the bomber that Bryson is. So, I think with Fitzpatrick’s game this week, that would be a really great match to see. So, yeah, and just being out here at Beth Page Black, it’s such a beautiful property. Uh, we’re in a state park. You know, this golf course carves its way through a forest and um it’s a great walk and a great opportunity to to watch some amazing golf. And you mentioned those players wanting to increase their speed, something I think everyone wants to do, especially in this day and age. But what are some things that you can do at home to maybe get those numbers up a little bit? Yeah. Uh, one thing I’m a big fan of is over speed training. It’s something we do at at the golf club. I I work at Arc Colola Country Club. Um, over speed training with some uh lightweight uh speed sticks, for example, something that you can build into your routine and practice at the end of a session. uh being able to to swing the the club as fast as you can without the fear of where that golf ball is going wonders to unlock a new gear in your golf swing. So, I know that’s something Fitzpatrick has has really dedicated his time to and we’ve seen it pay off. He’s one of the longer hitters now. Um getting ball speeds over close to 180 mph above tour average for uh someone of his stature. Uh just goes to show that over speed training can really pay off there. Now back on the top tracer range. Both Shawley and Rahm. Yeah, nice to see Shaley bomb some drives here. But such a beautiful golf swing. Loads up to his trail side really nicely. Keeps some flex in that trail leg and then powers his hips through with a little squat in transition. Generates a lot of speed. Not as much of a pause at the top as of course Cameron Young, but you do see a little bit of hesitation there where you can kind of reset and yeah, all these players have such a terrific tempo. Uh they don’t rush their transition. They allow that club to fall down playing nicely and keeps them in balance in the through swing. Something that you see all these players do a phenomenal job with. tempo important not to rush it, especially on that first te with the adrenaline going. Yeah, it’s it’s it’s been great seeing those whoop numbers. You got players getting up to 140 uh beats per minute. Um so if you can keep a nice tempo and a good rhythm, uh it will do wonders. Back on Xander. Yeah, nice to see him play that little flat fade, get some control over his golf ball. So important to hit fairways out here at Beth Paige. Again, never lost in RDER Cup singles, but this match up against John Rom, I’m not counting John out here. That is for sure. This will be a great one to watch and stick around for this one. Yeah, nice just just to see Xander back in action here. I know he’s he’s battled some injuries over the last year, but had such a phenomenal stretch of golf in 2024 and and uh looks like he’s he’s just about back in form now. He’s hit some great golf shots this week. One thing you’ll notice here, sorry Alexandra, they’ve after their driver, they’re working back down their set. Um, so it looks like he’s got a mid iron in his hand here, finding that rhythm after making some big swings with the driver. Um, so they go out on the golf course, keep that same rhythm through the round. I always like to finish my warm-up session by visualizing that first hole and playing the hole in my head. So, hit my driver, then hit the next shot that I think I’ll have, especially on a course that I know or in preparation for a tournament. Yeah, great way to transfer your game from the range to the course and just give you that little bit more confidence on that first te and that first fairway knowing that you’ve practiced for this moment. We’ve got our matchup for singles today. What do you think about the order of how these guys are going out and what kind of goes into that, especially on Keegan’s side? Yeah, I mean obviously both sides have have put their top performers out first. Um, you know, Team USA needs to get points on the boards early. Um, but Europe wants to get this Ryder Cup in their hands. So, they’ve got their best players up there in front, but these late matches are still just as important. Team USA fans making their voices heard already. They’re going to need that support out there if they want to get this done today. run up the storm. We’re going to war us [Applause] a musical performance for our viewers. There’s that passion you want in the band. There they are on our screen. [Music] Away Go back. Come on. Batter. for the day, what to expect and what we might see. Yeah, I’m hoping for some excitement out there today. Like I said, Team USA’s got to get on the point on the board early. I think they can do that with the players that they’ve sent out first up. So, going to get right out there on the golf course, follow those early matches, and hopefully see an exciting day of golf today. Enjoy watching the matches today. Thank you, Alexandra. [Applause] cover. All right. A big thank you to Hamish for joining us. Now live on the range with me, Ryan Adams, PJ of America professional and also my colleague here, part of the PGA digital team this week. That’s right. That’s right. Yeah. Here on the range doing some swing analysis. Got out of the tent for a little bit. It’s good nice break and it’s a nice day. So excited to be here and uh give some tips for the people at home. And you’re a great example that there are many different avenues in golf and how important it is to have that golf knowledge and then you can use it in so many different ways, right? Yeah. Right. Yeah. I went through the, uh, PGA golf management program at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, where I know you’re from, Colorado. Shout out Colorado. So, uh, that was a great experience and then started working for the PG of America as an intern. Then went to PGA magazine and now I’m here doing digital um, at the RDER Cup, which is awesome. So, I’m really excited for this day. And what a spot we have here on the range. Best players in the world. Europeans going up against the US RDER Cup team today. Yeah. Yeah. No, it’s uh looks like some of the matches are already gone out, which is which is good to see. Hopefully that we can turn the board red a little bit uh see a little bit more action from the US. But we’re watching Russell Henley here. We got Xander Schoffley here. We got JJ Spawn. Um and JJ here. Uh we got a nice view of his swing. JJ US Open champion obviously. So finally can uh we’ll see if he can uh make a point get a point today for the US but it’s going to be key for him to start out good. Um singles matches are a lot different than what he’s been through already in the forum and four ball pairings for Friday and Saturday. So really excited to see how he comes out and performs. I think he’s going to uh do really well. He’s been a nice part of the US team and hopefully uh can get a point for them today. And today will be his first career singles match at the RDER Cup. Very exciting to see how he will go up against his opponent, especially in match play. I think it’s just such a different format compared to what they’re used to. What are we going to see out there and the differences in a match play format? Yeah, for sure. You know, match play brings out a lot of different things in golfers. You know, it’s more about worrying about what your opponent is doing versus what your score actually is sometimes. Like if your opponent is, you know, struggling off the tea or missing putts, like you don’t really have to be as aggressive as you need to be. So, for those watching at home, if you’re in a match at uh your club or at a qu course or wherever you’re at, um it’s more about like what your opponent’s doing and kind of keeping an eye on them, making sure that you’re not, you know, playing too aggressive and you’re playing to, you know, win the hole and not necessarily make the best score sometimes. So, here we are, the top tracer range, Shane Lowry. Yeah. Yeah. this uh Shane’s uh see topping out at 262, a little bit more ball speed than JJ’s spawn. Um JJ’s more of a accuracy sort of guy, but that you know that’s that’s huge in your singles matches. You want to be in the fairway and you want to make sure that you have a good chance to uh make some birdies and hopefully make some noise and and start winning holes versus, you know, hitting it all over the place. So, I like I like JJ’s accuracy today for Sunday singles. Now, how about a match you’re excited to see today? Yeah, you know, I think like everybody else, I’m really excited to see how the first couple of matches go. I mean, it’s just huge names. This is what’s so great about Ryder Cup Sunday, I think, is you finally get to see those one-on-one matchups. It’s almost a little bit like a WWE style uh event where they’re just there’s a lot of hype around them. They’re coming in one-on-one versus each other. And there’s been a lot of great Sunday singles matches uh in RDER Cup history, too. So, I would say, you know, the first match Cameron Young has been an awesome surprise. So, him, you know, going up against Justin Rhodess who’s had a great week, will be great, you know, um obviously Rory and and Scotty and and Bryson and Matt Fitzpatrick and then obviously Justin Thomas and Tommy Fleetwood. That top four like is going to be appointment viewing. So, I think those are my four favorite matches, but I guess if I could pick one, it would be the first one in Cameron Young and uh and Justin Rose. It’s been really impressive to watch Cameron Young play here. It has. Obviously, he was excited coming into it. A New York guy, right? Gets to come back play in front of a home fan base. I’m sure he has everyone here watching him this week. Yeah. And I know that, you know, his his dad and PJ coach David Young have been a huge part of his journey, and I know that they’re he’s as equally as excited to be here. And it’s it’s it’ll it’s good to see Cameron Young kind of make his Ryder Cup debut in in a sterling fashion at at a place that he loves in Beth Page. So hopefully he can u play well today and end out on a high note. Now back over to Shane Lowry. Yeah, Shane goes up against Russell Henley today. Uh that’ll be an interesting match. Good ball strikers there. I think if you’re a ball striking fan, you want to follow Shane Lowry and Russell Henley. Um Lowry’s, you know, won an Open Championship, has that major championship pedigree, has a lot of Ryder Cup experience. Um and I, as we saw yesterday, he’s super psyched to be here. So, um I think he’s going to be a tough out for Russell Henley, but we’ll see how it shakes out. One of my favorite moments in golf, watching Shane Lowry walk up the 18th Royalport Rush to secure that open championship win. Yes, for sure. Yeah, he’s he’s got he got that major championship monkey off his back and he’s just had a a little bit of a career renaissance, so to speak. And especially here at Rder Cups, you know, in Rome, he was a factor and now here yesterday kind of guided Rory Mroy along a little bit. Uh um and made sure that that those two were able to get a point on the board. And so it’ll be interesting to see how he does by himself against Russell Hemley today. Finishing up those last four holes. Three birdies out of four. picking up the slack on that one other hole he didn’t birdie. Great teamwork right there, right? Yeah. No, that’s exactly right. And that’s that’s part of, you know, team Europe’s success is they they bounce off each other really well, but even today when they’re all, you know, one-on-one against the United States, uh they still kind of are rooting for each other. We just saw John Rom and and um Raasmus or I’m sorry I’m sorry Shane Lowry and Raasmus just shake hands and get ready and give each other a little motivational um encouragement before you know Raasmus is obviously he’s doing his first Ryder Cup um as well. So it’s it’s this is all about team Europe chemistry, right? And that’s probably why they’re in the lead at this point. So we’ll see we’ll see if that happens today again on Sunday singles. Russell Henley Henley on our screen right now. Yeah, great ball striker, very consistent. Went to the University of of Georgia, was a was a great player there, all-American in his freshman year. And um I know that a lot of people uh love, you know, his consistency and the way he’s able to make a lot of birdies and get on a run. Uh so we’ll see if he can do that today. I mean, when you take a look at Russell’s swing, he’s got a couple alignment sticks down. And you know, for those at home watching, alignment sticks are a great way to work on, you know, your setup. You can use them, you can use them as he’s using, you know, they have he has them on either side of the of the golf ball to kind of work on his path a little bit. So, an alignment stick is a great tool if you’re struggling with your your aim or just fundamentals is put put a couple of those down or just put one down on your feet and see where you’re aimed and and I think Russell using those is a great example for those at home. And even if you’re not struggling, put down that alignment. That’s right. You always keep things consistent. Yeah. Exactly. Exactly. So yeah, I’ve always admired um the way that Russell kind of goes about his game. He doesn’t get really, you know, uh perplexed by people who hit it further than him. He just kind of sticks to to what he does and that’s ball striking and hitting fairways and making sure that he’s getting given himself plenty of opportunities for birdies. And looks like he’s striking it really well today. So, um, we’ll see if that can happen today with the Sunday singles match, uh, against Shane. I mean, again, ball strikers against each other. It’ll be really interesting to see how they attack. Beth Paige Black, which has been, you know, um, yielded a lot of birdies uh, this week, especially uh, you know, in the in the pairings that we saw on Friday and Saturday. So, we’ll see if that carries over to Sunday’s singles, too. Now, let’s move over to the short game area. Morokawa hitting out of the bunker. get to see these players. Yeah. Trying to work out working on a part of their game that will be helpful for today. Yeah, that’s right. And the bunkers at Beth Page Black. So, for those that don’t know a lot about Beth Page Black, it’s got a lot of movement to it up and down hills. There’s a lot of deep bunkers with, you know, you kind of have sometimes will shortside yourself or you’re sometimes makes it difficult to get out of the bunker with just the elevation that you have from down in the bunker up to the green. So that’s why you’re seeing Colin probably practicing a few bunker shots. You know, he’s got his match versus Turtle Hatton today. Um hopefully he’s not in a lot of bunkers. You know, I think that’s that’s something that uh you don’t really want to see out at Beth Page Black too much is being in the bunkers, but when you’re there, you want to make sure you’re ready for the elevation and how you have to kind of hit higher lofted bunker shots to get up over the lip and then onto the green. So, and Shane’s doing some uh Shane Lowry is doing some bunker practice, too. So, good to get some get some of those reps underneath your belt before you head out. Preparation is absolutely key, especially going into a day like today. You need every single point you can and you don’t want to end up in a position where you have not worked on that shot. You never know what you get on the golf course. Yeah. There might be a chance for you to hole out and it it you get a a hole or or you know, maybe try to swing a match a little bit with a great shot out of the bunker, out of the deep rough. I mean, we saw that yesterday. John Rom had an awesome shot out of the rough and it just changed the the tide of one match. So, you never know. That’s what’s great about the RDER Cup is like one shot can change the whole afternoon. So, I’m excited to see uh who that is today. Momentum key thing that we need out here can feed off of itself. Right. Right. Need some of those later matches to get inspired. Yes, that’s right. Yeah. that the key for these later matches is they have to play just as good as the early matches are because there may be a opportunity where you know the matches are going one way or the other and you know now all of a sudden like these later matches mean a whole lot more than maybe they thought they did uh at the end of yesterday, right? So from top to bottom each match matters, right? And so the top guys are if the if one team starts putting up, you know, um some scores and stuff and you see a lot of your team’s color on the board, it kind of can motivate you to go a little bit deeper um in your matches. Um so that’s what’s important about these backend matches is just making sure that you’re playing your own game and you’re you’re doing your part for the team because at the end of the day, every point matters. So, here we are back on Russell Henley top tracer range seeing those numbers. Yep. Yeah. Looks like he’s working with the 3-wood here, you know, on the fourth hole of Beth Page Black. It’s a a longer par five, but it requires a lot of the elevated shot with the with a fairway wood. So, he was just working maybe thinking of that shot uh trying to get uh some good hits with that club. And now he’s moving over to the driver. So, see how he does there. But yeah, Russell’s, you know, great part of this team. You know, I think they they’re leaning on him in this match uh to make a lot of birdies and try to get up early um and try to put some red on the board. So, a lot of the uh guys can get motivated by that, especially those who are after him, but those before him, too. That’s what’s important is seeing the seeing your team’s color on the board can make mean a lot to you. So, I think they’re relying on Russell for that. Now, just a reminder to everyone wanting to watch the RDER Cup today, you can go to rydercup.com to watch the featured group. Of course, head over to NBC for all of your RDER Cup coverage throughout the rest of the day. Sunday singles. That’s right. An exciting day. Yeah. Our US RDER Cup team needing to do something special to secure the cup. Yeah. Yeah. No doubt. something really special, something some some sort of big historic comeback. So, we’ll see. We’ll see if they can do it. But, [Music] well, an important day, but we see these players out here still going through their routines, sticking to what they know, sticking to what they do before every tournament day. Right. Right. Which is important. And that’s, you know, something for people that watching at home. Sometimes when you have a big match or a lot of pressure on you, you kind of start to get out of sorts and you don’t do your routine and you don’t you just kind of rush into the shot and that’s where things can go a little offkilter, right? So you see these guys get to the range at a certain time, get into the short game area at a certain time and go over to the putting green at a certain time. It’s important to make sure that you’re following that routine that you set up for yourself all other rounds, especially at the RDER Cup. So, all Ryan, just leave us with your final thoughts heading into Sunday singles. Yeah, you know, it’s it’s an interesting day, right? Like Europe is up pretty good over the United States. So, those first couple of matches are going to be super important to see who sets the tone. And if the US can kind of uh, you know, put some red on the board, I think that’ll inspire the back half of their group and maybe make it a little bit closer. But also, Europe Europe is playing like awesome golf, right? So, it’s hard to when you’re going up against a buzzsaw like that, it’s hard to really kind of find find it, but hopefully the US can and make it a little bit of an interesting Sunday. So, that’s what I’m looking forward to. Thank you so much for joining us, Ryan. Thank you all for watching us here live on the range at the 45th RDER Cup Sunday Singles. 1. Call it out you cowards …this Ryder cup has seen some American fans, the USPGA and it's paid representatives , the caddie the player BDC drag the name of US Golf through the mud. Hope the Europeans gets the job done early and all those morons with one shared brain cell will leave the course and return to the stone they crawled from under.

  2. Pray for a miracle boys we need a miracle. The hand of God come on these boys got it. They are giving all they got. Europeans are playing some great golf. This is exactly what you want to be up against. This won’t be a giveaway. This will be a miraclewe could do it.
