HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Alison Takamiya is a rising star in the world of women’s golf.

After graduating from Punahou in 2020, she went on to Oregon’s George Fox University where she won a national championship and earned multiple All-American honors.

She recently announced her intent to turn pro and is making a serious bid to join the LPGA Tour.

“I honestly don’t really consider myself super athletic. I never wanted to play any sport that involved running or a ball coming at me,” she told HNN’s Mark Carpenter. “But with golf, it’s such a different sport where you don’t have to be the hugest, most muscular person out there. If you do want something hard enough, you have the power to get it. I think that’s what motivates me.”
