The Dallas Mavericks came up short in a 120-116 preseason loss to the Charlotte Hornets. Klay Thompson led the way with 14 points, Anthony Davis added 12, and rookie Cooper Flagg chipped in 11 in another solid showing.

Coach Jason Kidd called it a learning experience as the Mavs look to fine-tune things before the regular season. Next up, Dallas hits the road to face the Utah Jazz on Monday night.

[Music] The Dallas Mavericks dropped a close one tonight, falling to the Charlotte Hornets 120 to 116, their first preseason loss of the year. Four of the Mavericks five starters scored in double figures tonight, led by Klay Thompson with 14 points. Anthony Davis added in 12 points and four rebounds, while Derek Lively contributed 10 points and six boards. Rookie Cooper Flag continued to impress with 11 points. You know, I thought in the second half I got lost out there a little bit. um watching a little too much, but um got to find ways to, you know, impact the game a little bit more. Obviously, the turnovers wasn’t great, but um yeah, there’s definitely room for improvement, but it was it was fine.
