Tom McKibbin shares his toughts after third round Open de España presented by Madrid
and hang out there and um sort of sort of feed off that a little bit. It was Yeah, it was really nice. Another run’s going to be in the contention. Are you think Are you thinking about the exemption to the opening masters? Uh not really. No. Um I mean, I guess just got to try and um finish as high as possible. You know, it’s um it’s a long way back still at the minute, but um yeah, you never know. How important is it for these types of events to have those? Yeah, it’s great. You know, I think uh I think sort of these sort of events and and this tour uh definitely deserve these spots. Um I mean, there’s so many amazing players that I think deserve to be be in those tournaments and um it’s a great sort of step towards that. And you enjoying these back n events you’re looking forward to to fight. Yeah. Well, hopefully I need to get there first. So, um yeah, I’m looking forward to the the last couple of events. Hi. How are you? Hi. Yeah, good. How are you? Congratulations. That’s Tom. Second outstanding day of golf here in Madrid. How is it making you feel? Yeah, it was good. It was uh it was a very solid day, you know. Um played played lovely. You know, it’s a it’s a tricky golf course and um held a few nice putts and missed a few, but um overall I think it sort of added up to a very equal day. This morning the wind was kind of, you know, uh, strong. Did you feel that on the first? Yeah, it was uh Yeah, it was strong, you know. I mean, especially on the first hole. It’s 40 yards downhill straight into the wind, so you can really feel it. Um, yeah, it the front nine, it was definitely tricky with with with that sort of wind and um it makes the greens get firmer and it makes it a lot a lot trickier. The back nine are almost perfect roundabove. What were your, you know, strengths on that on that nine holes? Um, I think I hit a lot of very good approach shots. You know, some of the pins are tricky and I I managed to hit some good shots in there close. Um, I nice to hold a couple of putts as well. And with the T being up on 18, sort of taking advantage and and trying to and knocking on the green help as well. Um, top five now. Um, still a few players to to finish, but in a very good position for fight for the win tomorrow. Yeah. No, it’ll be it’ll be a lot of fun. Sort of.
