Is this the BEST Resort Golf in Europe?
This is one of Europe’s best 36-hole complexes. Right now, an hour and a half south of Lisbon lies Teroda Compora, which is now home to two worldclass courses in Dunas and Tore. Along the mileong driveway, fairways begin to flash through the trees, giving you a sense of just what is to come. The practice facilities are some of the best in the world. Even the worst of the no warm-up warriors are going to crave more time to prepare. Today, I’m on Dunas, which is the older of the two courses, opening only a couple of years ago. Lush fairways wind through Portuguese scrubland, swept into the landscape like brush strokes. Wide targets offer harsh penalties of mist, and rugged white sand bunkers flow into the surrounding waist areas. Halfway lunch secured, it was time to take on the somehow better of the two halves. The short path 413 takes you downhill into the pines before the home stretch guides you back to the clubhouse. Tore, which is the resort’s second 18 holes, has just opened for play. And this was designed by Sergio Garcia, his first ever design gig. [Music]
An hour south of Lisbon lies Comporta — bohemian, beautiful, and now home to Dunas, Europe’s next great golf resort.
From a clubhouse that feels like Disneyland for golfers to a links course carved through centuries-old dunes, it’s golf at its purest. ⛳️
Play it now, so one day you can say you played it early.
