What’s it been like for you mixing with guys who you might not have have played with or or kind of made friends with before? It’s it’s it’s interesting. You know, you go from people you you’re watching um preparing for week in week out despising in some ways and then all of a sudden you you meet them and and they’re great bloss um but like that’s just rugby. You know, you got to be able to turn it on. And I think we’ve all realized pretty quick that we’re all good fellas and we all enjoy each other’s company. And I think we’ve really enjoyed the last few weeks getting to know each other. And it’s a big part of of what we’ve tried to focus on over the last couple weeks is really sort of um buying into to us as a group and making sure our connections are tight and we’re getting to know each other off field as well as well as onfield. But uh that’s been definitely an enjoyable aspect of it. Despise is obviously a pretty punchy word. I mean can you kind of elaborate? Was there anyone who you maybe weren’t so sure of before you arrived here? I’m not going to give a name, but um No, there’s definitely no there’s definitely just like of course there’s passionate like people in in in the four provinces. I’m sure they they have a few names as well that you know you you prepare for and you can you see them as talismen for their own countries and then you’re probably glad to be on their own on their side now and and sharing the same shirt. So, um, you know, we need to make sure that we bring all that sort of energy that we used to put against each other into the same sort of channel and bring it out, uh, on Saturday against Western Force. But it’s something that we need to be able to sort of just embrace and have a laugh about, I suppose, if there’s been any moments over the last few years and, uh, sort of use to our advantage. I’d read that you were pleasantly surprised by Ellis Genge. I was forced into saying that by by a few journalists, but um, yeah, he like he’s a great fellow. I love how honest he is. He’s just real. He’s him. Um, I think the energy he brings to the squad and and training is unbelievable and like, you know, I his performance last week against Argentina was a standout performance and I think a lot of people follow off the back of that and um, he’ll be a massively important uh, player in this squad over the next few weeks and, you know, he’s just one of many who bring their own talent and they just are themselves and I think that’s um, something you can’t really beat is people just being themselves and bringing what they can to the

  1. "Despise" actually means that you think so little of someone that you dont care about them or think about them. So its the wrong use of the word here.

  2. Having played representative rugby alongside players I had played against many times in local cup competitions, I completely understand what he is talking about. Then up the level x100 to play at the level thesee guys do and with so much at stake.
Its a head space many players get into. Much easier to try and whack someone in a tackle when you dont like them so you convince yourself you don't!
