LONG GROVE — The Central College women’s golf team opened its final tournament of the fall with the first round of the American Rivers Conference Championships Saturday.

The Dutch are tied for eighth place after recording a total of 350. The University of Dubuque paced the field with a 310. Drew Hoffer of the Spartans is the leading individual with a 74.

Allie Pfantz (sophomore, State Center, West Marshall HS) leads Central after a first-round score of 78 to be tied for seventh. She had a pair of birdies en route to an even par 36 on the back nine holes.

“She finished well on the back nine,” coach Mackenze Biggs said.

Junior Mickey Martens (junior, Villa Park, Ill., Willowbrook HS) is tied for 24th after shooting 85.

“Mickey was putting well,” Biggs said. “She was getting up and down, saving bogies and staying in it the whole time.”

Chloe Sundet (sophomore, Urbandale, Waukee Northwest HS) is 40th (93), Bella Keaveney (sophomore, Hubbard, South Hardin HS) is 41st (94) and Karlee Koehler (freshman, Mingo, Baxter HS) is 43rd (94).

The teams were playing on Glynns Creek Golf Course in Long Grove, the first time the tournament has been held there.

“It’s a pretty open course and the weather conditions were really nice,” Biggs said. “The bounces just didn’t seem to go our way on the course.”

Round two is set to tee off Sunday Morning at 10 a.m. from Glynns Creek.
