Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational Final Results
STOCKTON, Calif – The North Dakota State Men’s golf team shot their best round of the tournament to climb three places and finish 12th at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational at the Reserve at Spanos Park on Saturday afternoon.
Andrew Ballou (73-77-71—221) led the Bison in the final round of the tournament. The freshman was the only NDSU golfer of the event to record a round below par and finished -1 in the final round after firing four birdies and 11 holes at par. Ballou rose 20 spots up the leaderboard to finish the event in a tie for 55th at +5.
Rylin Petry (74-73-73—220) was the highest placing Bison at the event. Petry led the team in birdies after adding four more in the final round to bring his tournament total to 10. Petry matched his round two score of +1 to finish +4 overall in a tie for 48th.
Gabe Benson (74-75-73—222) and Jake Skarperud (73-74-76—223) wrap up the NDSU scorers for day three. Benson notched two birdies and 14 holes at par to record his best finish of the event at +1 and landed in a tie for 62nd at +6 overall. Skarperud was +4 on the day to finish +7 overall in a tie for 66th.
Carter White (76-76-76—228) sank the only eagle for NDSU at the tournament on the 6th hole. White matched his previous two rounds with a score of +4 to finish +12 overall in a tie for 81st.
As a team, the Bison (294-298-293—885) shot their best round of the tournament at +5 to finish 12th out of 17th teams with a final score of +21. Host Pacific (276-263-278—817) claimed the tournament title by 20-strokes with a final score of -47. Colorado (276-276-285—837) were the runners-up at -27 and San Diego (278-282-282—842) claimed third at -22.
NDSU will have nearly two weeks off before heading down to Mexico for the Monterrey Collegiate Classic. The tournament will be hosted by George Washington at the Club Campestre de Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico on October 24-25.
