The 2025 Ryder Cup is the 45th edition and runs between September 25 – September 28. Luke Donald is the European Team Captain and Keegan Bradley is the U.S. Team Captain. The European Team are the reigning champion after winning 16 ½ – 11 ½ at Marco Simone in 2023. Every two years, 24 of the best players from Europe and the United States go head-to-head in match play competition. Drama, tension, incredible golf, camaraderie and sportsmanship are served in equal measure, captivating an audience of millions around the world. Time to hear from the American Rder Cup captain, Keegan Riley. Keegan, the pundit said you had no shot today, even in defeat. What does your player show you on this Sunday? Well, they’re they’re tough group and we uh we didn’t play our best the first couple days, but we did today. That was a really fun day. We had all of our fun in one day here at the RDER Cup at Beth Page. Scotty was in tears talking about your leadership and the bond of brothers on Team USA. What kind of praise does that mean to you when you’re hearing that from the best player in the world? Um, means a lot to me. Um, really enjoyed doing this. I never thought I’d get to be a Rder Cup captain. Um, I’ll never forget it. No, it was amazing. You know, in sports sometimes there’s Monday morning quarterbacking. In retrospect, is there anything you might have done differently? Yeah, I probably the course I think I would have set the course up a little different. Um, but I don’t know. They they played better than us. They deserve to win. They’re a great team. Um I mean I in my eyes, Luke Donald’s the best European Rder Cup captain of all time. If it’s even possible, how has this event grown even more for you personally? Um I got a real weird relationship with this tournament. Um a lot of heartbreak, but I still love it and I love the guys and I love being out here again. I don’t know if I’ll ever get to do this again. So that was uh I’ll remember both. The US are better at being insular and playing alone. The Europeans love team golf. That’s what we saw. Good competition but I am glad that the team that understands the ethos of the Ryder cup and embodies it today won.

I feel bad for Keegan, got shafted last year from being selected, and then should have been a player this year again. Instead he narrowly avoids one of the most humiliating losses in Ryder Cup history as Captain.

For the Europeans to win 1 out of 12 singles shows Keegan did a great job under immense final day pressure.He was also very respectful and honest during this interview.
