On a golf trip with some buddies. We roll up to 16 tee and the group in front of us tells us we can’t play the hole, a guy is down by the green and they’re performing CPR. My riding partner is a Firefighter, we drive down to the green to lend a hand.

When we arrive, the pro shop already had the AED to the scene (acted quickly, props to the staff). My firefighter friend jumps in and helps with resuscitation.

The AED brought out by the staff within minutes, the guy’s group started CPR quickly, and my friend was nearby to jump in, saved the guys life. It was a tense and scary scene, but amazing to watch my friend take control of the situation and bring the guy back. The guy was back to consciousness when the medics and helicopter arrived.

2 years ago, same firefighter friend gave me the Heimlich at dinner when I was choking on my meal. He’s 2 for 2 on saving lives on our trips, auto MVP both years.

To lighten the situation, afterwards, another guy on our trip makes the comment, “I thought we all agreed to leave our work at home.” I guess there’s always an exception to the rule.

PSA: the Coyote Springs staff’s actions to get the AED to the scene quickly was critical. Kudos to the staff. And the course was in great shape. They fixed the helicopter’s tire divots within minutes of it lifting off to the hospital.

Good to hear the course was repaired quickly.
In all seriousness- great job – we need people like you and your buddy in this world.
Hope the guy makes it back to the course someday.

I hope you all gave your friend every putt inside of 100 feet. Seriously, glad your friend was there…both times.

Great outcome and props to your friend and the staff. That course almost gave me a cardiac too when I played it.

I wanted so badly for the paramedic to get out, hit a ball, then fly away.

“Someone’s getting air rescued off the 16th green? Must be a Bob Does Sports episode”

  8. Thank your friend for his service. Firefighters are the best.

Cool under pressure, we should pay firefighters and EMS better than those politicians

This is why we love EMS and firefighters, but it’s still always ACAB lol

I had a seizure on the golf course. When I can’t to my buddy was hauling ass back to the clubhouse where I was met with the whole fucking fire dept lol. The golf course and the fire dept share a parking lot lol.

This happed to a guy I worked with years ago. Did almost died on the course and they airavac’d him out. He said that on the course  or in bed banging is how he wanted to go.  I feel bad for his old lady because you don’t get second chances like that.

In all seriousness. Hope this dude is ok and his buddies don’t make him pay up for that hole.

Was your FF buddy phased at all afterwards or did he continue playing as normal?

Damn, of all the courses to have an emergency that might be the worst! It’s got to be one of the most remote courses in the lower 48. Props to your buddy for stepping in, we need more heroes like him!

    Good thing they weren’t CPO…

In all seriousness, those EMTs are amazing. So much respect for them and all first responders. 🫡

Course I worked at had an AED and told us to NOT use it if someone was having issues.

I said, I will still use it and deal with the consequences later.
