BILOXI, Miss. — A longtime Querbes Park golfer from Shreveport has proven that age is just a number — especially on the golf course.

Harry Allen, an area businessman who is just one year shy of turning 90, spent a recent weekend in Biloxi competing in the Mississippi Senior Olympics. There, he shot an impressive 74 on the Sunkist Country Club course, earning the top spot in his age bracket.

Allen’s score could have qualified him for the National Senior Games, but the next national competition won’t take place until 2027. Still, his win is earning him plenty of respect and admiration back home at Querbes Golf Course — and proving that dedication to the game can keep your swing strong at any age.
