Adam Scott discusses his solid opening round at the Baycurrent Classic, navigating 25–30 mph winds and a challenging new course layout. The Australian started strong with early birdies before grinding through tough conditions, staying patient and creative with his shot-making. Scott praised the course setup, saying the wind forced players to think strategically, especially on doglegs and approach shots. Confident heading into the weekend, he added: “I actually think the wind helps me… I’d like to see some the rest of the week — it levels things out in my favor.”
All right, Adam, solid round today. Can you just talk us through how it was out there? Yeah, it was tough and I got off to like a great start. Um, hit a few shots in close the first few holes and um then just started grinding from there. I did hit a few other good shots, but I actually missed those putts. So, um I’m not going to say it should be a couple better. I’m pretty happy with that score in this condition. new golf course this year and tea time moved up due to the weather. Did that change how you played anything today? How were the conditions out there? Uh I think it made us think a lot out there. You know, it’s not We didn’t practice out here with, you know, 25 mph, 30 mph winds. So, there are a couple of holes. Certainly the dog leg holes all of a sudden requires some thought off the tea as to what you’re going to hit. Um, and a few of the shots into the greens you had to get creative with, too. You just couldn’t float your wedges up into the air into that kind of strong wind. So, the course held up well, and I I think it was a good test today. What’s the game plan for tomorrow? You going to change anything or keep it the same? Well, I actually think the wind kind of helps me, so I don’t mind if it blows a little bit tomorrow. Maybe not this hard, but I’d like to see some wind the rest of the week. I think it kind of uh levels it all out a bit in my favor. Thank you. Thank you.
