ALAMOSA – The Alamosa and Monte Vista high school boys golf teams ended their seasons at their respective state tournaments on Tuesday.

Class 3A

The Mean Moose competed at the Class 3A State Tournament at the Eagle Ranch Golf Course in Eagle.

Alamosa finished 13th in the team standings with a two-day scored of 495. It had a score of 251 on Tuesday

Leading the Mean Moose were Serjio Najera who was 21st with a final score of 153, Eliott MacKey who was 61st with a 168, Clayton Trienen who was 67th with a 174, and Gibson Gillespie who was 81st with a 180.

Lutheran won the state championship with a final score of 436. The Lions had a team score of 215 on Tuesday which was one under par.

Timnath was second with 447, and Mullen was third with 448.

Lutheran’s Nicholas Brooks was the individual champion with a 10-under-par 134. Peak to Peak’s Jack Brayman had a three-under-par 141, and Eaton’s Dayne Schmidke had a two-under-par 142.

Class 2A

The Pirates were at the Class 2A State Tournament at Elmwood Golf Course in Pueblo.

Monte Vista placed 11th with a two-day score of 486. It was led by Connor Mellott who tied for fifth place with a final score of 147. Jakoby Ross was 41st with a 165, and Aiden Ford was 74th with a 174.

Frontier Academy won the state title with 452. Forge Christian and Brush tied for second with a 466.

Swink’s Noah Pearson and Frontier Academy’s Isaiah Fowler tied for medalist honors with a 143. Pearson won the individual championship on the third playoff hole.

Mellott named All-State

CHSAA released its 2025 All-State boys golf teams on Thursday. The All-State teams are posted on the CHSAANow.com web site.

Mellott was the only golfer from the San Luis Valley to earn All-State honors. He was placed on the first team after tying for fifth place in the final individual standings.
