National University dominated Adamson 6951 for their second straight win in season 88 action at the Mall of Asia Arena in P City. The Lady Bulldogs came out firing unleashing a first half barrage capped by Carl and Pingol and one play that stretched their lead to 46-23. Christine Cayabyaba and Marggo Villain Noeva added 13 and 11 points respectively as NU’s depth proved too much. Adamson tried to rally late but the defending champs kept control. Pingal shined with 17 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists, four steals, and two blocks as NU improved to 3-1 while Adamson dropped to 13. The Altas are on fire. The University of Perpet will help System Delta pulled off a statement win, taking down defending champion Mapua 7565 for their third straight victory in the NCAA season 101 men’s basketball tournament at the Phil Oil Center in Sanan City. JP Boral was locked in, dropping 15 points to lead the charge, while Patrick Sleet delivered a monster all-around game with 12 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and three steals. La Casinilio chipped in 13 points and Mark Goho Cruz stepped up with 15 as the altas turned up the heat in the second half of a thriller that saw seven deadlocks and 11 lead changes. Perpetual’s defense was the difference clamping down on reigning MVP Clint EMAs and holding him to just six points in 27 minutes. The Altas are now 3-0 their best start in years while Mapua drops to 2-1. It’s perpetual making noise in season 101. Crisis averted in the PVL. All imports and foreign players are now cleared to play in the reinforced conference after the Philippine National Volleyball Federation finally signed their international transfer certificates. Early Wednesday, control committee chairman Sherwin Malonzo confirmed that all documents were 100% active and signed. As of 6:30 a.m., a day after the PVL called out the federation for holding back imports on opening day with clearances in Petro Gas can now field stars Brooke Vanickle and MJ Phillips alongside returning import Lindseay Vanderwide against Galleries Yelena Zikovich on Thursday at the Desmarz Arena. Zeus coffee playing without Anna Deir escaped the carry in five sets. Choco Mucho and Capital 1 also kept their imports on the sidelines while Phil rookie and opted to sit out to avoid possible sanctions. Still Choco Mucho made a statement sweeping Capital 1 33 31 26 24 252 23 behind strong returns from Katino and Maddi Madiag PNVF President Rammon Tatsuzara later confirmed he was under the weather for now the league can finally breathe. The imports are cleared and the conference is back on track. The 2025 interchool golf tournament is off and running. one of the flagship events of the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines, and it’s bringing together the country’s best young golfers from schools far and wide. With non-stop action set to run until February 2026, the event brings together the country’s finest young golfers from various schools, all vying for glory on the greens. The tournament features four divisions to ensure fair play: lower school, middle school, junior high, and senior high. This year, Immaculate Conception Academy will defend its lower school crown. Assumption College aims to hold on to the middle school title, while Savior School chases back-to-back wins in junior high. In senior high, all eyes are on Delos Alabel to extend its dominance. The opening weekend unfolded at Mimosa Plus Golf Course in Pampanga with players navigating the Accasha course on Saturday and the mountain course on Sunday. Around 400 young golfers are expected to compete this season. With the stage set, all eyes are on the fairway as these young golfers showcase their skills, precision, and school pride in one of the country’s premier youth golf events. What a night in the American League Division Series. The New York Yankees pulled off an epic comeback and the Seattle Mariners are one win away from the American League Championship Series. In New York, the Yankees were down five runs and facing elimination until Aaron Judge took over. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. started with a first inning two-run homer, but the Yankees fought back. Judge blasted a three-run shot in the fourth to tie it 6-6 and New York never looked back. Judge went three for four with four RBI’s. Three runs scored, leading the Yankees as charge. Second baseman Jazz Chisolome Jr. added the go-ahead solo homer in the fifth. And here’s the history. The Yankees are the first team ever in MLB postseason history to come back from five or more rundowns and in danger of being swept and win. Previously, teams in that spot were 0 and 38. Over in Detroit, Logan Gilbert unleashed his alter ego, Walter, to dominate the Tigers and power the Mariners to an 84 win, putting Seattle one win away from the ALCS. Walter is Gilbert’s madman mound personality. Gentle off it, but deadly with strikeouts. He pitched six innings, struck out seven and allowed just one run, while the Mariners’s offense exploded. Yueno Suarez, JP Crawford, and Cal Rally all homered, while Victor Robles’ smart base running added extra runs. Raleigh’s ninth inning blast even hit a fan’s dump here shirt in the bleachers who swapped it for a new one celebrating number 62. Gilbert coming off an elbow injury looked like his old self and Mariners players praise his cold-blooded killer form. Seattle is now on the edge of history, one win away from the ALCS and the Yankees as historic comeback keeps their World Series hopes alive. Game four on Wednesday promises more fireworks. And here’s your daily dose of sports lingo. In curling, what is the name of the foothold on the ice that players use to push off and slide their stone toward the target? It’s called the hack. It provides the player with stability and leverage as they launch the stone. Players place their foot against the hack, push off, and slide gracefully along the ice, aiming to deliver the stone with precision toward the circular target called the house. The technique and balance used from the hack can greatly influence the stone speed, curl, and accuracy. So, next time you watch a curling match, pay attention to how each player uses the hack. It’s the small but essential foothold that sets the stage for strategy, skill, and precision in every shot. It’s time for our offc court buzzer. The NBA is back in China, ending a six-year hiatus that started with a single tweet supporting Hong Kong’s pro-democracy protests. The Brooklyn Nets and Phoenix Suns clashed this week in Macau with two soldout games, marking the league’s grand comeback. China cut ties in 2019 after then Houston Rockets GM Daryl Mor posted, “Fight for Freedom, Stand with Hong Kong.” The fallout cost of the NBA hundreds of millions as broadcast and sponsors disappeared. Yet basketball never stopped in China. More than 125 million people still play and fans found ways to watch despite the ban. NBA deputy commissioner Mark Tatum said the league remains committed to free expression while coordinating with the US State Department. The Macau games sold out in hours, part of a multi-year deal to hold two NBA matches in China each year. Experts warn the league still walks a fine line amid growing nationalism, but fans see this as a reunion and not a risk. The lights are back on, the energy is high, and the NBA’s return to China is nothing short of historic. And that’s a round up for tonight, the 8th of October. Up next, joining us here at the BNC studio, one of the most decorated volleyball players in the country, the captain of Alas Filipinas, the G amazing Gia de Guzman. When we return right here on the scorecard [Music] oh oh [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] The government is looking to raise about 200 billion pesos by 2026 through the sale of state assets. On the heels of the pandemic and the pogo exodus, how is the Philippine real estate market doing? Uh inflation is denying, the macro environment is looking pretty good. What what advice would you give them? Do you think that this is a good time? [Music] Welcome back to the scorecard. We are privileged to have right here at the BNC studio one of the most decorated volleyball players of the country. From being a UAP champion to multiple time PVL champion known for her tenacious leadership on the court, we have the team captain of the Atlas Filipinas women’s national volleyball team, the one and only G amazing Gia. It’s been a while since I’ve said that. The G amazing Gia Beman. Gia, thank you so much. Thanks for having me. I was about to say it’s been a while since I heard you say G. Am amazing. Well, G again, thank you so much for the time. I know you’re so busy, but you’re here right now and we are experiencing such a great time with regards to Philippine volleyball. We just witnessed history, the first ever staging of the FIVB Men’s World Championship here in the Philippines. And then right before the final, the president of uh the federation and then of course the legend Leila Baros saying that in 2029 the women’s FIVB will happen here in the Philippines. What was your reaction to that development? We were speechless at first because the men’s world championship was such a big event. It’s a once in a lifetime event. We don’t know if it will ever happen again. And then right before it ends you said yeah they announced that the women’s will have it in not even four years three years n so we were just cheering at first and then I realized wow we have a lot of time to prepare for this as compared to what the men’s had to experience at 16 months and they showed you know how well they can play against big powerhouses internationally naman we will get that hands also. So we will want to take advantage of the time that was given to us to prepare. Wow. So with that answer, Gia, I feel a sense of excitement. So with that said, you being the team captain of the women’s team, Alas Filipinas 2029, not too far away, just 3 years away. Does this change your plans career-wise or personally knowing that you do have that responsibility be being the captain of Alas? Of course, I will do everything in my power to play in the 2029 Women’s World Championship. As you said, it’s once in a lifetime. And honestly, I don’t think it affected much other than it gave me another goal to prepare for because as athletes, we just want to do everything that we can to play at a high level and learn from what we can uh in every experience whether local, international, and the world championships is one place to do that and I want to be there. So 2029 before we know it, Sabian Gia, three years to go. It’s going to be here and Gia will be there as well. You heard it here first. All right. Your name will forever be associated with the sport in our country, especially after your historic silver medal finish in the 2024 ABC Women’s Volleyball Nations Cup. Um I remember in 2021 you ranking n Filipinas was 158 if I’m not mistaken around that around that that area. Now we are ranked 48 bar 46 in the world. 46 right now. 46th in the world. Yeah. So how pleased are you with that development? That’s uh more than 100 spots up. I’m really happy because I’ve been in the national team for a while. I don’t know how many years exactly, but all the hardships, all of the games and tournaments that we had to go through, all of the heartbreaks also, and then years after, we’re at this level that we never really expected to be at this level right now, to be living at a good time for Philippine volleyball. Uh, I’m happy, but at the same time, I feel like there’s so much more potential to unlock in Philippine volleyball. um if not in my generation, it will be in the next. But the key will always be something that I always say it’s continuity. It’s a long-term program that we have to uh pursue. And hopefully in the long run, we still have the support of everyone cuz at the end of the day, as Fierce, we just want to make the most out of the talent that we have, of the sport that was given to us. and volleyball and you see how excited the next generation is and we just want to feed that talaga you know the way you answered that question um it’s the perfect leadin for my question and on your Instagram page the description says the first part of your description it says know your why so what is the why of Gia de Guzman ultimately I’m I my faith is very strong like I believe that I was gifted with this talent with this path and I want to be able to glorify God the best way I can and I feel like number one it had to start with me trying to learn everything I can and to up my level every time even at this age I want to be coachable I want to be open I want to make the most of even the hardest situations but it doesn’t just stop there for me to glorify God even more. I want to be able to give back to the sport that gave me so much. And if it reaches the point that we have to pass it on to the next generation, I will be there also. So, I just really want to give back to the sport. I want to empower the next generation also to pursue whatever dreams they have cuz volleyball is so beautiful. That’s so great to hear. But it’s also great to know that you yourself were also given the opportunity to pursue your own personal dreams and your own personal goals in the sport of volleyball. And I feel like you were successful in your trip to Japan when you took that leap of faith to play there with the Deno Airbes winning the 2023 24 Japan VLeague Division 1 Women V Cup. Um when you won that championship, did that sort of like complete your experience there as an import? It it was a it was a milestone but um for me it never ends in one win, in one championship, in one milestone. There’s always something more after that. But at the same time, I just like keeping my doors open for what or where God will bring me. So I didn’t I didn’t think um something bigger would come after that, but I believe that if something did, God brought me there. So after that championship, I was so happy. Yes. Say I get to bring something home. Um we worked for it really hard as a team. and my two years in or actually even my first year in Japan. I feel like at first achievement and that first year with Alas bronze in the first tournament that that told me now okay like I’m still in the right path. There’s still something I can do for Philippine volleyball and I want to be there. Now before we talk about Alas again, I want to talk about the PVL because seasons of Premier Volleyball League and it’s been a while since you last played in the PVL. 2023 was your last stint with the Creamline Cool Smashers. Um but you’ve been training with them again. How are things now that now that you’re back here and playing with familiar faces? It’s good that you’re right. It feels very familiar but at the same time I was gone for two seasons. So I I’m a big believer of you know Dreamline having system as its strength and for two seasons. I want to be able to reintegrate myself better with the team and that’s what I’m doing now. I’m training with the team full-time but at the same time um I’m doing extra conditioning now things that I haven’t been able to do the past few years. in the long run. Fans are eagerly awaiting your return. The day that you once again suit up and wear the pink for the Cool Smashers. So, G, I’d be aiss if I did not ask you this question. When will you suit up once again for the Creamline Cool Smashers? It will be next year in the next conference, the All Filipino conference. And that’s part of my timeline talaga. what I’m preparing for also aside from the CD games, it’s really everything from here on out up until even 2029 goals as Filipinas is lucky to have you, Gia. And uh with all the things that you’ve achieved now at the age of 30, is there anything more on your vision board as you decide what to do next? volleyball. I would want that, Anton. And I’m I’m blessed to have a husband that supports me in that. But like I mentioned earlier, I really want to keep my doors open. I want to stay present in whatever is placed in front of me. when you’re present in what you’re doing now and like a cherry on top career there’s so much more to unlock in Philippine volleyball and we’re so excited that uh you will still be here you’re still motivated you’re still dreaming of bigger things for the sport and uh we’re so thankful that you are here leading everybody in this the most exciting era of Philippine volleyball. kasama s Miguel because uh it is not complete the G amazing experience if we don’t have the Giguel experience as well. So Gia, thank you so much for sharing with us everything and we will have a part two of this on the scorecard Gia de Guzman with Miguel de Guzman right here on the billionario news channel. Up next, it’s winner go home for the Mercury and a chance at immortality for the aces. Every possession counts. Who rises, who falls? We are about to find out. So, lock in and stay tuned. And always keep your eyes on the prize. [Music] Hey, Paulo is already here. Tell me what’s on your mind. the answer. You’ll have to wait for it. [Music] First of all, congratulations when you’re not around. Breaking news. Thank you for spending your hour with us. Ask the questions. We tackle the issues. Let’s dive right in. agenda. [Music] Welcome back to the scorecard. It’s time to keep your eyes on the prize. All right, folks. Buckle up because the 2025 WNBA Finals is heading to the desert and it’s about to get scorching. The Las Vegas Aces are up two-0, one win away from turning this into a dynasty conversation. Now, the Phoenix Mercury, they’re staring down the barrel of elimination, and their oxygen is running out fast. So, let’s be real. Game number two, it was a statement. Vegas didn’t just win, they flexed. Jackie Young went Supernova, 32 points, a playoff careerhigh. and Asia Wilson, the MVP, did MVP things again. 28 and 14. Another night, another double double. The Aces stars are peaking at exactly the right time. But Phoenix, they’re not rolling over. Ka Copper and Satu Sabali have been absolute warriors, 23 and 22 in game two, but they need help. Alyssa Thomas is fighting through foul trouble and the Mercury defense has struggled to contain Las Vegas once those high screens start cooking. You can see it. Wilson gets a mismatch. Gray finds her in rhythm. It’s unstoppable. Now, here’s the bigger story, though. A Wilson is chasing history. Four MVPs, two rings already, and she’s now one win away from joining the Mount Rushmore conversation. swoops Lesie Jackson and now Asia Wilson. And the crazy thing is she’s just 29 years old. Now the Mercury, they’ve been here before. Copper said it best. We’ve been counted out all year. So why stop now? They’ve got the home crowd. They’ve got pride. And they’ve got one mission. Extend the series. They will come out swinging. So, expect Thomas to go fullon facilitator mode, Satu Sabali to crash the glass, and maybe, just maybe, they want a Bonner to turn back the clock. But let’s talk about Becky Hammond’s aces. You can feel the confidence, the confidence. Even when Phoenix landed early punches in game two, Hammond never blinked. This team just absorbs the run, then hits back twice as hard. Chelsea Gray quietly notched another points assist double double her second straight in the finals. That’s leadership. That’s championship DNA. And if the Aces win tomorrow, that’s three zero in a best of seven. And let’s be honest, nobody’s coming back from that against this version of Las Vegas. This isn’t just dominance. It’s a cultural moment. packed arenas, sellouts for nearly 50 straight home games, and a team redefining what the WNBA looks like at its peak. So, the question tonight, can the Mercury find one spark to stop the sweep, or will Asia Wilson close the door and cement one of the greatest three-year runs in league history? The desert’s heating up, and so is the series. The Aces are two wins away from immortality, but the Mercury, they’re not ready to fade away just yet. It’s game three of the WNBA finals, and everything is on the line. [Music] And that’s our finals preview. Las Vegas is chasing history. Phoenix is chasing survival. One team can taste the trophy. The others fighting to keep the dream alive. So tune in, lock in, and get ready because championship moments, they’re made right here. So keep your eyes on the prize. Before we go, think on this. from an NBA champion. A former Rising Stars challenge MVP known for his scoring and rebounding proess, Kyle Kosma once said, “Just work hard and just block out all the noise and just believe in yourself.” And with that, thank you for joining us tonight. We’ll see you again tomorrow on the scorecard, where sports is our business and business is our sport on the Billionaire News Channel. This is Anton Roas. Have a blessed evening everybody. Good night. [Music]
