1920’s BABE RUTH PERSONALLY OWNED GOLFBALL (HOW HE TRANSFORMED GOLF) NOT ONLY BASEBALL WITH HEAVY HITTING
You knows I’m a soldier. This life I was given. Those days that seem cold. My attitude’s polar. I’ve been popped off the mold. Hello fans of sports collectibles. Today I’m going to show you another relic. This will be the third video of the day which I don’t do very often. And eventually, like I said in my previous video, we’ll get into cards. But I have so many relics. I’d like to get out of the way so that way we could focus more on the cards because I don’t find relics as often as I find pre-war cards from my collection of Babe Ruth. But I have a really unique item this time that I like to show off. It’s from the 1920s and it’s actually something Babe Ruth used personally. We have here a 1920s Babe Ruth golf ball that was made for him to use. And Babe Ruth was actually an avid golfer. I don’t know if you can see it really well here. Before I get back to showing you the golf ball, I just wanted to say that he would often take on tournaments against other baseball players such as Tai Cobb. Babe Ruth was known to golf against Tai Cobb. And I believe Babe Ruth actually lost the game to Cobb, but Babe Ruth had a swing unlike anybody on the golf course. Some people said that he would hit that golf ball even further than what he did a baseball. And it’s just a really great piece of history showing you guys this golf ball because I I researched this extensively and only found one other one that have ever sold at auction. So, I really hope that you enjoy these relics as I show them on each video, and I think you’re going to find the cards even more amazing as I get to them. As you can see, it’s actually stamped with Babe Ruth’s name into the ball, which adds provenence to it that it was made for him. But on here, what’s really unique is the other stampings as well. It says special, and this was made for Ruth. And you can still see the dirt from when Babe Ruth was hitting this baseball with that monstrous swing of his. And it says champion here on the left as I zoom in for you to see. And this is only the second one in existence that ever was found of these golf balls made for Babe Ruth. We don’t know who made them, if it was Champion or if if it was some company that was trying to endorse him, but it was made for him. It’s just amazing looking at the patina and the way this golf ball presents itself. It’s very unique. There’s nothing like it. And like I said, as you can see, the great bambino was making golf very popular. Now, sorry for the reflection here. He used the same swing on that golf ball that he did with the baseball in his prime. And after he retired from baseball, he stuck to golf and golf was his main thing because managing didn’t pan out for him. He wanted to be a manager of the New York Yankees, but that dream never came to came to be. I hope you guys enjoy these videos because I have so much more to show you. Hundreds of pieces. Literally hundreds of pieces. And I’m constantly adding to the collection.
