soft southern [ __ ] where where you from then? You’re more southern than me. I am, but I’m not soft. That beach chill, is it? Frank, what’s happening, mate? Can I say I’m a bit disappointed in what? On the small talk set, Charlie’s doing it states side. I didn’t even get the Oh, what? You thought you’d get the gig? I got to be honest with you. It’s a bit like my career. You know, for years I’ve been behind Eddie and only now do they really let me out and do an interview. So you you need to take time. You had your debut the other other week, didn’t you? So like you can’t have it all at once otherwise it would otherwise can you imagine your ego like your ego is getting towards Parson’s level. So Frank, come on. You know if you were on Small Talk as well, it’d be uncontrollable and I’m a bit too big for small talk. I think what is height? Actually that makes sense why they had Frampton and Jamie. Yeah. The best moment of Frampton’s career as he said. Um, look, we are going to talk about why we’re here, but just following on from the conversation we had the other day, I thought we was done with the Ben Whitaker stuff. Um, but apparently you’re classless, Frank. Me, what have I done? Coming on and bragging about Ben Whitaker signing for match. No, no. You know what? I I said I didn’t think the matchmaking up to date to now for Ben Whitaker has been the best. And I think that’s what they played out. and Simon Jordan called me classless and a bag carrier, etc., etc. I don’t know why he’s so far up boxer’s ass. He must have a bit of dough in there. Must have his last remaining few quid in boxer. And he’s obviously failed miserably with it, isn’t he? I was going to say, why is it a subject that he seems to be getting quite high rate about? Do you know? He’s a very angry person. I mean, like, why do you care about me? Like, he calls me a tea boy, bag carrier, classless, blah blah blah. Like, mate, don’t worry about me. I’m just some 33year-old who’s just out here having a laugh. Don’t worry about me. go and enjoy your life. I don’t know what it is with Simon Jordan. I don’t barely even know him, but he really dislikes me and it’s very strange. You think that’s just because you come as part of the Eddie? No, I think he paid a bit of respect to Eddie and he called me classless. So, I don’t know what I’ve done wrong. I’ve obviously just upset him. You know, he’s obviously a very emotional geyzer. Where do you think him and Spencer Oliver got the theory from that contract? It’s funny, isn’t it? Actually, that was at the weekend, wasn’t it? They were talking about it, saying, “Oh, he’s just signed a new contract.” I was like, “With someone else?” No, it’s Look, it’s uh for me, as I said, it’s a massive move to get that signing, you know. I I’ve I’ve I’ve always got on well with Ben Whitaker, even when we didn’t promote him, you know, and I’ve always felt that when the time was there and the time was right and he was a free agent, that he would end up with matching. And I’m excited about what the future holds. We saw with the promos that he’s the perfect character. him and Eddie together are going to be brilliant and I can’t wait for the journey we’re going to go on. You know, we’ve signed a long-term deal, but I truly believe when we deliver for Ben Whitaker, he will be with us till the end of his career. Do you feel like boxer were the ones though who unearthed the talent? I mean, that’s where he talks so much waffle like how there are some fighters that boxer unearthed. Yes. I mean, but it’s like saying Cristiano Ronaldo, right, had a had a stellar career up until 17. They went they’ve unearthed this talent from the back streets of where’s he from? Portugal. Like no. Ben Whisker went to the Olympics and won a medal. It’s not really unearthing talent, is it? Watch turning on the TV and watching the Olympics and going, “Oh, he’s good. I’m found him on the back streets of Birmingham or Wolves. God, they talk some waffle.” But I, you know, he unearthed him, did all this work to create him into a star. I know Ben Whitaker created himself into a star because he’s a personality that people buy into, you know, and I think what Ben Whitaker has done already in his career with a limited promoter is tremendous and I can’t wait to see what he can do. And it’s not even like me. I’m talking about him and Eddie together are going to be unbeatable. You got any plans to go back on Talk Sport anytime soon? With Simon, by the way, with Simon? I went in talk sport. I saw um I saw the guys in Talk Sport. I did it. It was good fun. And then an hour two hours later, Simon was piping. I don’t I honestly don’t know why he does. I’d like to have a conversation with him, but the thing is with Simon on the mics and but the thing is he talks really loud, right? And he says really big word. Like he’s much better talker than me, but like I’ve forgotten more about boxing than he will ever know, you know? Like it’s not his world. I don’t know that what he knows about football or running a mobile phone business. You did just say Ronaldo’s from Portugal, isn’t he? Yeah, exactly. So, um, you know, I’ve I’ve got a little bit of detail there, but yeah, strange bloke, strange fellow. Wish him all the best of luck. I just want him to be happy. He’s very redfaced at the minute. Hey, we’ll move on from Ben Whitaker. Um, it’s a pretty simple question, pretty obvious question, but just how big is a win for Dave Allen, by the way. Massive. You know, look, for him, he wanted a scary fight. He’s got that with Matt Mudov. He’s got 19 odd KOs in his career. And if if uh Dave can come through this on Saturday night, he puts himself in a position to get those massive fights against the top 10 heavyweights. As I’ve said before, he sold over 10,000. He’ll have over 10,000 people in the arena on Saturday night. People don’t do that. You know, heard the last time that happened was Kellbrook Matthew Hatton. Yeah. I you know, I think he is he’s a likable character and I think you’ve now got a guy who’s a likable character, but he’s also applying himself to, you know, the maximum of his ability. And I don’t think he’s ever done that before. And I think you will see the best of Dave Allen. I realized that when I was up there, I was talking to him. He’s only 33, but because he’s been around the sport so long, you think he’s like 37, 38, 39. So, he’s got so much more to offer the sport, but he’s got a real test on Saturday to come through first. Yeah. He hasn’t been around for a long time. I know a lot of your match from Journey there would have been kind of bits of Dave dripfed throughout. Um, I know it’s it’s a business and you are, you always say, I’m a businessman. And that doesn’t mean you can’t have relationships because of the obscurity and the fact that even you said I thought he was gone and now he’s coming back. Can you form like a real liking or loving for a fighter cuz like like it is a business but there must be something you look at Dave and go this is just I’ve always had that with Dave because he’s a nice bloke. You know you work with look in any walk of life in any business there’s people you get on with there’s people you don’t get on with. There’s people you stomach because you have to. Dave is just a nice gizer that you want to see do well and there’s not tons of those around. So there’s certain people you work with that go do you know what I want him to do really well and I don’t ever talk badly upon like as in I don’t wish bad against anyone but with Dave Allen you wish and you you hope for him that he will get the maximum out of his career you know as I said up there I thought he was finished two years ago and I didn’t really agree with him going into certain fights two years ago or two and a half years ago and I don’t mind being wrong with that like but I don’t think he he was applying himself in a sport that’s very dangerous that you need to be 100% in um but now he is and he like I say again I’m I’m very proud of what he’s done and what he’s achieved and I think he can go on to do even more. He said to me that the promises are Deontay Wilder and Kubra Pulv and obviously boxing doesn’t work as simple as that. It’s not win and you get those fights. Um but if I could just ask you either those two fights what sort of purses would they command for Dave roughly what sort of money would he be making? a very good amount of money. But Dave’s in a position right in my eyes where you look at the top 10 in the heavyweight division, they don’t sell like Dave Allen’s selling. Like if you put some of those top 10 in an arena in the UK fighting Madov, they wouldn’t sell 10,000 tickets. I don’t I don’t think so anyway. And that’s not talking down against him. It’s just showing the position that Dave Allen’s in. So he’s not going into these fights necessarily as an opponent. It’s just a great fight, you know. So it’s good times for Dave. He’s going to make a lot of money should he come through Saturday night. And I believe he will. Let’s talk about the other half. Makmov believes that him and AJ have just been chatting and agreeing to this big fight. Should he be Dave? I think it may be slightly mis, you know, I think McMov. Yeah, but obviously AJ’s got the likes of the Tyson Fury fight. Jake Paul on the other end of the scale fights in Ghana or Nigeria. Like there’s so many opportunities on the table for Anthony Joshua. He’s gonna do what’s best for Anthony Joshua. With the Jake Paul thing, there’s a little bit of something creeped into you where you think they might have pulled the wall over our eyes. Talk this whole big AJ thing up and in their mind they kind of never really wanted to fight AJ. He wants to get paid. Like the reality is he wants to get paid. It was always talked about for early part of next year. The difference is now he can’t really wait to see if Javon Tank Davis chins him. That’s the issue. But it was always about next year. I look, you know, AJ has been on his own path doing what he wants to do. He’s now ready to get back in and and back in the gym. Um, and AJ really, you know, he can define what he wants to do. He wants the biggest opportunities out there, and that’s what we’re going to deliver for him. Did Eddie let a date slip this morning? What did he do? I saw a clip where I think it was when he was in Rock Nation yesterday. Um, I saw a clip just like it was kind of filmed casually on a phone. He went through the schedule and said, “Monaco, then you guys go to LA.” He went, “Then we’re in Africa on the 19th or the 20th.” Um, is that an Anthony Joshua date? It’s not an Anthony Joshua date. Maybe he’s just in Africa. I don’t I doubt Eddie’s just Well, he might be to Africa. Okay. What’s going on in Africa on the 19th 20th? Wait and see. Look, I’m the wrong man to give away secrets. Yeah, I’ve actually I do rarely get anything out of you. Eddie’s the one to let a couple bits. You know, the proudest I’ve been of Eddie recently when we signed Ben Whitaker, right? So 10 days ago. So last Sunday, it would have been like the same 10 days ago. I got a phone call saying we’re good to go on Ben Whitaker from Will Harvey as manager. Let’s get contracts back and forth. So, we went back and forth for three or four days, got the contract together. We filmed a promo on Friday to then announce on Monday. And did you see it didn’t leak anywhere, did it? And we barely told anyone, even the people in our office. No one knew. And we kept it really secret. I’m so proud of Eddie cuz normally in an interview go I’ve got something big coming. I’ve got something big coming. But he said nothing. So, I’m very proud of him. Feel like a father figure, you know. Yeah. Well done to Eddie. All that time in the sport and this is the first time he hasn’t managed. He’s managed to he’s managed to keep it secret. Um, you don’t believe this Tyson Fury return, do you? Yeah. Oh, you do? Yeah. I I always thought he’d return. It’s what Tyson Fury does. Makes it part of the Tyson Fury show, doesn’t it? And then he’ll fight Anthony Joshua, of course. I think so. I think we’ll see that fight. Fair enough. Frank, thank you very much, mate. I will see you on Saturday. Um, just a quick word for everyone about the double header. She Sheffield Philly poundforpound star boots. Massive night on the glo. You want me to do it or you just done it? Done. I mean, basically what he just said, do not miss it. Saturday night, we start in Sheffield, 10,000 people. Dave Allen knocks out MCMov. Then we cross over the borders and we go and see Eddie Hearn in Philadelphia watching the pound-for-pound star. Geron Bootsen is all live on the zone boxing. The home of boxing, global home of boxing. Matt times the zone. See you then. Thanks very much. Goodbye. Bye-bye. Looks better in a suit.
