Collin Morikawa says Ryder Cup fans “probably crossed a line out there.”

Hi, Colin. Um, you said before the RDER Cup that you wanted the fans to go crazy and you wanted there to be chaos. Um, do you feel that the way that the fans behave crossed the line and do you feel any responsibility for the way they behaved or regret what you said before the competition? Well, I I think we’ve taken what I said a little out of context. You know, I I think Ryder Cups are meant to have a lot of energy, right? And I I think me saying the word chaos, I I didn’t mean for them to be rude, right? So like that’s not on on me, I believe, for me to take credit for people being rude. I think what I meant was like I wanted energy, right? You wanted people to be pride and be proud of the country and the countries they’re rooting for. Um so I I don’t think you know me saying one word everyone listened and then I don’t think I have the power to do that you know amongst people. I think pe fans can can do and say what they want sometimes and and it it probably crossed a line out there um and you know it wasn’t in my groups but definitely you know what what people were hearing. So I would say you know yeah it’s there there’s a line that needs to be drawn I believe. But I think that’s what’s so different and unique about golf is that we hear nearly everything what people say because people have access to be so close to us. Um, you look at a lot of other sports, you don’t really hear much. You know, things are said, but golf has that different aspect to it.
