Lutheran’s Ella Pieschel and Boylan’s Cole Beto claim sectional golf championships

High school golfers have been loving this weather. Sectional tournaments were played in it today. Couple of them here in Rockford at the Forest Hills Country Club. The girls won a Rockford Lutheran sectional was held. The Crusaders were the favorites and they did not disappoint. This is senior Maline Bennett of Lutheran. She shot an 89 and that was good for seventh place individually and second on Lutheran’s team. Lutheran senior Ella Picial was the Crusader’s number one golfer and the number one golfer roll in this sectional. She shot an 80 to win it by two strokes. Lutheran ran away with a team championship for by 30 strokes. So the Crusaders will head to state this weekend indicator. Also congrats to the Byron Lady Tigers. They took second place as a team. Elena Brandt finished third individually and Gwen Brandt finished ninth. Also in Rockford at the Monoti Country Club, a boys 2A sectional played out. Boland was one of the favorites. This is Nick 10 individual champion Lius Felipe of Borland. The sophomore shot an 81 today to tie for 31st. Boland’s main man for three years running has been Cole Beo. And what a day Beto had. The senior tore it up. He shot a 66 at Monati, the top score the day by four strokes. So Beo is the sectional champion and he will go to state. But Boland just missed out as a team and Titans placed in fourth place and top three teams advance. Belvadier North was the next best local team finishing in seventh place.
