RICHMOND, Va. – Elon’s William Carr and Jack Wieler were named Coastal Athletic Association Co-Men’s Golfers of the Week on Wednesday following their standout efforts at the West Bay Collegiate Invitational.

Carr, a freshman, and Wieler, a junior, were instrumental in leading the Phoenix to a runner-up finish at the two-day, 54-hole West Bay Collegiate Invitational in Estero, Florida, on Monday and Tuesday of this week. The duo tied for ninth place individually with 10-under-par 206s while Elon posted a 29-under 835 for the tournament to take second overall.

Carr was red-hot from the start, shooting 68-67-71 on the way to setting Elon’s freshman 54-hole scoring record with a 206. The rookie tied his collegiate-low 18-hole score of 67 in the second round and was 8-under-par and bogey free on the front nine holes (1-9) for the entire tournament.

Wieler vaulted up the leaderboard over the final 36 holes after ending the first round in 43rd place with a 2-over 74. The Bluffton, South Carolina, native shot back-to-back 66s – the fourth and fifth such scores of his collegiate career – in the second and third rounds to secure his ninth top-10 finish since the start of the 2023-24 season.

It is the first weekly conference award of Carr’s young collegiate career, while Wieler was recognized with the honor for the fourth time.

Carr, Wieler and the Phoenix men’s golf team will host the Elon Phoenix Invitational next Monday and Tuesday at Alamance Country Club in Burlington to conclude their 2025 Fall slate.
