I want to hear about the Oasis. Wait, what? What do you mean? What’s that? Your new EIG company? My new EIG company? What is O? Are you serious? You don’t know what Oasis is? No. What is it? Are you kidding me? The date’s like yesterday. How old are you? I’m 30. 30. Oasis is probably the biggest rock and roll band in the world. Or they were they launched. They were. They didn’t launch. They reunited here. This is This is from the show in at the Rose Bowl a little bit ago. Everybody knows it’s a grind playing the PGA Tour, but what if I told you one PGA Tour pro trades that grind in to grind and sell his own coffee? That’s right. I’m talking about the Bista himself, Mr. Bo Hustler, stops by to talk about his new endeavor and how he preps every Tuesday. Oh, here we go, baby. I got dressed up only for you. This is kind of dressed up. Yeah, for you it is. The show coming. Let’s go get some coffee. We’ll do two cappuccinos, please. Sounds good. Um, can you do it with This is on you, right? Yeah, I got it. Okay, cool. Um, can you do it with vanilla, but just half sweet? Vanilla and half sweet. You got it. And we’ll do them We’ll do them for here. We’ll do them in a mug. Sounds great. Oh, wow. Because the art’s better that way. Okay, there we go. Look prettier. It’s the aesthetic. You’re the coffee guy. Thanks for joining us. Thanks for having me. You kind of took charge in there. What do we What do we have here? I’m grateful that you let me order cuz there’s a chance there’s a chance that this changes your life on camera. Well, I love it. I want to see it. We got a couple cappuccinos. We got some beautiful latte art. Mhm. And I think you’re going to like it. Uh but I’m going to respect it if you don’t. Uh we’ll get into your coffee stuff in a little bit, but the the latte art, where do you stand on that? Are you a fan? And can you do it? Of course I’m a fan. It’s a skill of a barista that’s like at thousands of pores to figure it out. So I’m probably like 3 or 4 years in to like but I make like when I’m home like two cups a day. They’re busting out hundreds of cups a day. What’s your handicap on on art? I’m probably like a scratch. This is like plus six level. This is like I’m on the mini tours grinding. Okay. But like there’s a chance I make it through school this year. Okay. Like this is really quality art. It’s funny cuz when you get one beautiful like that, if you’re not experienced, people think you got like a stencil or something. I thought I’d freehand. You saw it. Let’s see if it it changes my life. This is normal for you. This is a This is a normal Tuesday prep for you. You’re not going out of your way to go to a coffee shop to hang out with me today. This is part of this. The only difference is I’d be sitting inside cuz it’s raining. Okay, fair enough. Honest thoughts. It’s a nice piece. Easy to go down. I mean, I’m a coffee fan myself. I’m not I wouldn’t say I’m nearly at the level you are, but the older I’ve gotten, for sure I’ve gotten into to coffee more. I appreciate a nice cup. It’s a safer vice, right? Yeah, for sure. Right. Absolutely. You’re a California kid. You’ve been out on tour for a while. This is about your seventh year, sixth or seventh year. Are you a uh I’m going to take my time Tuesday, do my own thing, uh play nine holes, kind of relax and and and make my way into the week that way? Yeah, you kind of nailed it. I mean, it depends what form I’m in with my game, but if I’m in decent form with my swing and I don’t feel like I have to really like go grind anything, it’s going to be coffee. I’m going to see my physio dirty mic and then I’m going to go warm up, do nine holes, usually by myself. As you know, coordination with other players, it’s just you get tied up. You have to do something or you got to go get a workout in or your your trainer can only see you at this time or your coach can only see you at this time. It just kind of works out in a way that it’s really hard to coordinate. What I’ve kind of committed to is just my caddy and I just go at our own pace. If it ends up on the tea box that someone’s there that we want to play with, we’ll do that. But a lot of the times it’s a solo mission and then you get to kind of do whatever you want. Yeah. I love that’s how I was was too. I mean, you’re right about the schedules. It’s everyone’s juggling their own thing and especially if you like to do your own thing, why not? Speaking of caddy, John Turkot. John, one of my best friends. Um, former Matt Everyatty. Former Matt Every Caddy, alltime human and a weapon on the bag. He really is. He’s a man of many talents. What’s What’s your favorite thing about having Johnny out here? He’s an excellent caddy. Yeah. But the thing that’s the most pleasurable is being around him. You and I both have in common that we like to lose our mind a little bit on the course. He has a way unintentionally of just kind of snapping you out of it because he’s like a type of guy where you almost just laugh when you look at him. Yeah. And for our personality types, probably a matchmade in heaven. It really is because if you have the wrong guy that really just pisses you off when you look at him, probably not going to turn out good. He for me, Bo, he always knew like when I want like sometimes you want a guy to be pissed off with you and he would do that at the perfect time. And then other times when I was getting a little too out of hand, I’d look over at him and he he’d be like, it’s just might be time to to clean it up a little bit. And then, you know, there it is. But just an an alltime friend and a great human. You guys make a pretty good team together, too. I think we’ve had a really nice time. And there’s, you know, it’s interesting because we spend so much time together that a lot of players and caddies like really need to get away from each other off the course, but I think some of my favorite times with him is doing stuff like this or going to dinner or whatever. Like I I try and hang out with him as much as possible cuz we really just we don’t bring the golf to the Yeah. the outside the golf part. And so we have an amazing time together. I think frankly 99% of humans that hang out with him would have an amazing time with him. Where are you at right now with coaching in your career? Who you working with? Are they coming out on the road on Tuesday? Do you like to get your work done at home or are you a guy that wants a guy out there kind of holding your hand watching you hit every ball on the range? I’ve kind of bounced around. I’ve learned a lot, I think, from every coach that I’ve worked with. Um I think the thing that I’ve learned for myself is that we are experts at golf. Yes. And sometimes you can lose sight of that because you feel like you’re not performing at a certain level and you’re trying to fix things and get better. You’re trying to add tools to the toolbox. But in reality, like we all have an innate ability to play the game and you just want to supplement it with small things to help you just get fractionally better without risking doing something drastically different. Does that make sense? Absolutely. So, like right now I’m in a place where I’m kind of taking the reigns on my own. Again, through the experiences working with all kinds of different coaches, I think I’ve learned a lot of things where I have this kind of list of things where if it goes wrong, I can go back to that I’ve learned and hopefully will never forget. If whatever I’m feeling doesn’t really jive with how I naturally want to swing, for me, it’s like you get into this conundrum on the course where you get an uncomfortable situation. You’re like, “This isn’t me anymore.” I think accountability out here is is getting lost a little bit. You know, the teams are becoming seven or eight deep, right? Especially in practice rounds. You see it out there in the course. In my career, the the best job I did getting the ball in the hole was when I was on my own, if that if if that makes sense. Yes. You get away from the thoughts. Look, everyone out here is trying to help. And it’s a it’s a big part of the tour is knowing when to listen and when to just man I need to to just do my own thing here and go find it myself because this is how I got here. I got here by myself. There’s help around the corner everywhere. It’s it’s can be a slippery slope. Yeah, I agree with you. Everyone out here from a playing perspective, caddy perspective, coaching perspective, management, like everybody’s here for a reason. They’re really good at what they do. Yeah. But to your point, it’s about just understanding where you’re at, understanding what you need. Yeah. And frankly, making selfish decisions that are in your best interest, even when it’s challenging to do that, and putting yourself in a position to be yourself and to not try and be someone that you’re not. Yeah. Gradually get better. Like the margins are so thin out here. If you can every single year, if you can get I mean, we’re talking like if you can get five shots for the year better, it’s crazy what that could do. Those shots at the right time, right? Yeah. It’s amazing. You know, I didn’t need to do a lot of research on you because you’re a buddy, but you qualified for two majors when you were in high school, and one of your biggest challenges is not having that be a career-defining moment. Yeah, I agree. Okay. You made a lot of money out here, dude. And you haven’t won yet. 4 seconds and 2/3. Do you think your career defining moment is still ahead of you? Oh, for sure. I love that. Oh, yeah. Absolutely. No, no doubt. I’ve not played the consistent golf that I know I’m capable of. Right. All right. But but a hot should be a PJ tour winner. Will be. Absolutely. I feel totally confident in that. You know why? Why? Cuz I’m good at golf. But also, you can play golf for a long time. Yes. It’s crazy to think like I feel like I’ve been out here forever. I’m 30. I know. 30 is a veteran out here now. I know. But I’m I’m just saying like there are friends of ours that are very competitive out here that are in their early mid4s. Mhm. I’m going to have grays like you, dude. Yeah. Well, it’s coming soon. Especially if you start deciding to have kids and it’s coming real fast. Um, all right. Bista, how involved are we? When did this idea come up? Love the name. I think this has some legs. What do you got? All right. So, I’m going to give you a little inside track. This is something I haven’t disclosed yet. Okay. I got into coffee probably like 5 years ago. I started like just pure novice. I’m talking like curig. Don’t know anything. Like I I like to equate things to handicaps in golf. I was a 49 handicap coffee drinker. All right. Gradually made my way down just like coming to places like this. Going to all kinds of different coffee shops. Like it kind of became my like refuge on the road from our freaking crazy lifestyle sitting at the golf course all day where it’s like all right, let me get away. Let me like immerse myself in something different that I actually really like. So that was what I did for years. And then eventually I was like, man, I definitely want to do something here. I’ve always been like an entrepreneur at heart. Mhm. I’ve met so many people at places like this where like if I go and like have a great experience, like I want to meet the people involved, like the bistas, I want to meet the guy who owns the place. I want to know how he’s doing it, like where he’s getting his beans, like what the deal is, how he’s roasting it, etc. So, like I’ve really like tried to learn a lot and met some freaking awesome people. It’s kind of different from golf where like in this coffee community, people want to help each other. Yeah. When you go on tour, you’re like, I want to beat you. Yeah. And like if we’re buddies, like we can talk about like stuff, but the reality is like you’re kind of on your own in this kind of industry bubble. It’s like everybody’s like truly rooting for each other, which is really cool and like willing to like talk about how they’re doing it, what makes them different, like what’s important to them. So I did all that. April comes around this year, I’m just like not feeling myself. Like I don’t feel like me. And I’m like, you know what? I remember seeing you that time of year. You were down a little bit. Yeah, I’m not playing good golf. But it’s not just that. It’s just like I’m like something’s off. Like I don’t feel great. I’m like I’m going to Costa Rica. Oh, I for a week during the Masters cuz I had the week off. I have some friends that have done it and they’ve all had an amazing experience and they told me like you’ll know when it’s time to go. Yeah. I was like, it’s time to go. Yeah. So, I went lost my wallet the night before I went. So, I went to Costa Rica. I borrowed 1,000 bucks from my driver who took me to the airport. So, I had my passport and $1,000 cash. Also, shout out to him for giving me $1,000 on the way. Your What kind of driver was this? He just takes me to the airport. Like, he’s like my built-in like whenever I’m going to the airport, he’s an Uber. Yeah. So, I go down there, have this like amazing experience. like felt like I learned a lot about myself and like for the first time was like really proud of myself for my golf and like the work that I put in like gave myself credit for like just turned on a different side of your brain kind of. Yeah. Just just I think you can’t hide from it, right? It just shows you like who you are, what you’re about and I think I just realized that I love golf. I’m going to freaking be great at golf, but also I need my mind to be challenged in other ways as well. Like I need to be more well-rounded. And frankly, I think honestly I think it’s going to help with my golf. But that was kind of what spurred me to action to be like, “All right, I’m gonna actually do this.” Because I’ve wanted to and I’ve not done it yet. I’m sitting here in a hotel in San Antonio after shooting 75. I’m like, “What am I doing?” Yeah. Right. I don’t have anything. I don’t have an outlet that I really care about. Like I can go watch a movie or hang out with friends, but it’s like our lifestyle is lonely, man. There’s a ton of downtime. And you’re damn right, man. and it gets uh the highs are super high and the lows are are super low. I mean, there’s nothing worse than playing bad golf and being stuck in the Midwest somewhere without your family or friends. You’re not playing for six more days and you can’t get home. Yeah, I have the capacity to do this and you know me really well. I’m not going to do anything unless I can do it at a high level. And I felt equipped to do it at a high level to come out with something that is special. Dude, I was super impressed when I first saw like your launch. I was like, “Wow.” Like this is a a a professional launch idea for real. Yeah. Like it’s not a joke. It’s not like a oh I just put my name on someone else’s coffee thing. Like I literally labeled the bags all myself. Let’s talk about that. You’re just straight up bootlegging this thing. This is just you. I mean merchandise all that. Like I know you obviously you have an agent, but how much of this is just Bo Hustler doing running the whole show? I’m doing it. Yeah. All of it. And I have people around me that this has been another really cool part is like I’ve got the people around me that really care about me. Yeah. And they do their own thing, but like they’re involved and they’re advisers and when I need help, they help me and they bust their butt to help me. But as far as like truly doing it, like I’m doing all of it. Yeah. Um and then I would call them advisers to help me strategize, get stuff done, etc. I hired a roster. So he’s like, listen, I’m a scratch. This is guy’s proper. He’s sourcing really high quality organic beans. We started like four months before the launch. We started with I had him source 20 organic beans. And we did a tasting and came down to three. Point being is like it was extensive on the front end to get the product right. Yeah. All this uh the packaging, etc. And then now that it’s come to fruition, the feedback’s been off the charts good from a product standpoint. It’s like, okay, how do you make this real? Right. So that’s what we’re looking to do. Figuring out how to grow it. Totally. It’s not even you got the right people in your life for for growth. Totally. It’s not really a growth thing. It’s just honestly I’m really proud of it and I want to share it. And like the thing So I’m 3 weeks in. The thing that’s been the most special for me so far is me giving it to a friend of mine who’s a novice coffee drinker drinking whatever. Yeah. And them being like, “Wo, that was like I talked to Camilo about it yesterday. He was very very impressed.” He’s a he’s a coffee snob. I know he is. And so getting the person who doesn’t really know anything or is particular about coffee and having it having my stuff and like wow that was like totally different in a good way. Also giving it to someone who’s really particular about their coffee who I know would tell me if it was bad. Yeah. And them being like it was really good. How long were you sitting on the name for? A long time. Really? Yeah. I don’t even remember who called me that the first time, but it was probably because I do this breakfast club in Arizona where I have my friends over and I just make us all breakfast and cappuccinos and all that and it came from there. Yeah. Yeah. I don’t know. I I really like it, dude. I’ll tell you what, super impressed with all of it. And I can’t thank you enough for doing this. Yeah, but I want to hear about the Oasis. What? What? What do you mean? What’s that? Your new EIG company. My new EIG company? What is O? Are you serious? You don’t know what Oasis is? What is it? Are you kidding me? The dates like history. How old are you? I’m 30. 30. Probably the biggest rock and roll band in the world. You need to tune in to some Oasis, bro. Oasis. Yeah. Get on it. We’ll both get cultured. You’re going to have to finish the cappuccino. I’ll finish it. I’ll finish it. Bo, thanks for coming, bro. Cheers. Thanks for having me. Yeah.
