MUNCIE, Ind. — Pepperdine women’s golf senior Yingzhi Zhu and sophomore Nishna Patel wrapped up play at the Golfweek Put Me in Coach Invitational with a pair of top-seven finishes at Delaware Country Club Golf Course in Indiana.
The 14-player field included athletes from Pepperdine, Texas, Ball State, Purdue, Xavier and Bowling Green in a three-day fall event on the par 72 course.
Zhu finished in a tie for third place, posting a three over par score for the tournament. She began with an even par 72 in round two before shooting a one-under 71 in the second round. Zhu was one of four in the field to have multiple rounds at even par or under.
Patel was a model of consistency throughout the tournament, shooting a 3-over 75 in each round. Her final score of nine over par placed her tied for seventh in the tournament. Patel was one of three in the field to shoot a 75 or lower in each round.
“The Put Me In Coach Invitational was an excellent opportunity for Jenny and Nishna to compete during the fall,” said head coach Laurie Gibbs. “They both played well over 54 holes, which will increase their confidence as the season goes on.”
It marked the first competition of the fall season for both Zhu and Patel, as Zhu featured in each tournament in 2024-25 while Patel saw action in seven tournaments during her freshman campaign.

Next up, the Waves will conclude the fall season at the Stanford Intercollegiate hosted by Condoleezza Rice, set for October 17-19
