The Hero World Challenge, Tiger Woods’ event in the Bahamas in December, is the official kick-off to golf’s silly season, and the initial field was announced Tuesday.
Seventeen of the 20 players who will play at Albany Golf Club are ranked in the top 28 of the Official World Golf Ranking, including defending champion Scottie Scheffler, the world No. 1.
Also included in the field are Xander Schauffele, Justin Thomas, J.J. Spaun, Robert MacIntyre, Harris English, Keegan Bradley, Justin Rose, Sepp Straka, Hideki Matsuyama, Cameron Young, Patrick Cantlay, Sam Burns, Corey Conners, Chris Gotterup, Wyndham Clark and Brian Harman.
There remain three TBA tournament exemptions up for grabs. The Hero is set for Dec. 4-7.
Will Tiger Woods play Hero World Challenge?
It’s unclear whether Woods will try to play in the Hero World Challenge as he continues to recover from his ruptured Achilles tendon. He had surgery in March to repair the Achilles, which ruptured as he was ramping up to compete in the Masters.
Last year, Woods was initially going to play in the Hero but withdrew ahead of the tournament as he continued recovery from his sixth back surgery.
If he’s able to play, expect him to take one of those last three exemptions, but don’t be surprised if Tiger sits this one out to continue recovery heading into 2026.
