One common thing you’ll notice when you watch these guys prepare for a tournament, they’re all going through their checklist. Like Kevin was using a level, here’s Minu Lee using a putting plate, a string line. You know, they all want to accomplish a few things. Number one, get in the habit of doing the same thing. Here, Tom Kim using a mirror and a uh putting putting plate to work on his starting line. Again, Kevin’s working on his starting line here with a straight putt. And then over here he’s got a right to left starting on that line. And here he’s got a left to right. Again, you’ll see a bunch of putting plates and mirrors. You’ll see a uh putting mat. You got Matt Wallace here using putting plates from a bunch of different angles. Got David Lipky using a putting plate on top of a putting mat. So, when you guys go out and practice your putting, make sure that you accomplish these four things. your setup, your stroke, your start line and speed. You’re welcome.

Or just hit your approach shots closer to the pin. All this focus on putting promoting "average" tour caliber ball striking. But of course the greens on tour were never designed for the speed achieved as a result of the modern mower. Despite that, greens have been rolling at 10.5 plus for nearly 50 years., but tour pros in the 70's thru the early 2000's never focused this much on putting. The focus was fairways and greens. Just a thought.
