Looking good bro, but your distance is not what’s holding your handicap back the most right now, I promise.

I am curious about your focus on distance as a 16 hcp. I have been stuck at 15 all summer but I believe I am hitting all my clubs better than ever. I just don’t see distance as a factor but I can put a finger on my problem . Do you see that as a reason for not scoring better?

It isn’t your club head speed that’s leading to a 16 handicap.
When I was at 106 (I’m older, used to be higher), my pro said I can shoot scratch at 7000 yards, I just need more consistency.
(Then shoulder issues, unrelated to golf, so there went that)

Work on overall consistency and ball contact. Know your distances with each club and get closer to the pin with each shot. GOOD putts will also save you a lot of strokes too. Trying to gain distance off a driver isn’t gonna do it

That looked fairly fast to me. Do you slice the ball?

Remember Michael Block? The club pro at Arroyo Trabuco who hit that HIO at the PGA Championship. He carries the ball 270. If you care that much, get lessons or a gym membership

GIRS is what you need
You can easily be a + handicap with a 260 drive if your long irons are as good as your short irons.

There are some drills you can do to improve your distance. Danny Maude has some videos on this and basically it will come down to how fast you can move your body. Strength is less important than speed here.
