DALLAS – Highlighted by Louis Pilod’s three-under 69 and fellow junior Reese Sato’s two-under 70, three of the Cal Poly men’s golf program’s five entrants at SMU’s Trinity Forest Invitational moved up the leaderboard during Monday’s second round.
At the 7,617-yard, par-72 Trinity Forest Golf Club, Pilod (above) posted four birdies against one bogey for his 69. With a two-day, one-over 145, Pilod climbed 21 spots into 42nd position.
Sato also climbed 21 spots to 63rd after producing five birdies as part of his two-under 70. Sato enters the final round with a five-over 149.
After firing an even-par 72 Sunday, freshman Zihao Wang posted a 74 Monday and now sits in 47th with a two-over 146.
Freshman Rafael Bobo-Lloret fired a second successive 74 and dropped seven spots to 56th with a four-over 148.
Sophomore Nolan Kuszyk enjoyed three birdies Monday as part of an even-par 72 and improved 10 positions to 68th with a six-over 150.
As a team, Cal Poly is 16th overall with a two-day, nine-over 585.
Final-round action at the Trinity Forest Invitational gets underway Tuesday morning.
