“It’s never been about the viewership.”

there we can close the thread.

lol good, liv golfers are a bunch of spineless losers

At this point I’m not even sure what the point of LIV events are. Viewership? In person experience? Dampening PGA Tour events?

  4. Like realistically speaking, does LIV / Saudi PIF actually care? I assume they’re just holding out for as long as possible to get a merger/buy out deal in place.

I’ve never been more confused / sure that I was dealing with bots than with LIV reactions on social media.

The amount of people celebrating the shotgun start, and other small changes in the early days just baffled me. Even if I liked the changes, which I mostly didn’t, it always seemed so disingenuous.

    LIV can eat camel dung…………………….

  7. Do people really think the Saudis are going over their account statements?

These guys are all off the grid trillionaires and the ticker on their wealth is still pointing straight up. This is a little pet project for them. I doubt they’re even watching themselves. They’ll let this go on another 20 years with new talent if they really wanted. There is plenty of people on the PGA Tour that would still take the money if a $750 million dollar deal was put in front of them.

I watch the PGA hoping for a guy who’s never won on tour or someone who hasn’t won in a few years to win a tournament. LIV is just watching the all stars game over and over again.

I watched the playoff between Rahm and Bryson’s team and it felt like real golf because they were quiet. No music playing in the background, or anything. But the shotgun starts and party vibes do not translate to TV. LIV feels too much like watching a NBA preseason game while the PGA Tour feels like the Finals.

The only people who like LIV golf are bots/shills on Twitter, and some weird bros who are even more annoying than the Barstool crowd.

Are the LIV golfers allowed to come back to the PGA or do they have to grovel?

As long as I have to see Sergio in shorts and listening to secondhand music blasting over my tv speakers I’m out.

  13. I’m curious to see what happens when the players’ contracts expire. Will they re-sign with LIV or will they come back to the PGA? IIRC, they have 3ish year contracts, so those should be coming up soon.

    Failed league.

    Nobody watches that shit.

    🤣

  15. noksucow

Maybe they should try adding a comedian to each team?

  16. EntertainmentFew7103

Where is that guy from last week in a Ryder Cup thread that was telling everyone LIV has just as many viewers as the PGA???

  17. OtterWrestler

Not really, it’s clearly a loss leader and disrupters move. The product is shit but it’s pulled players away from the tour which is its objective.

Let’s put this in a business perspective Liv has been around for how many years… exactly… no company as big as them are gonna turn a profit in the first couple years.. I also would love to see more LIV/PGA match ups.. I’m talking live on YouTube 2v2 matches.

When the oil runs out, Saudi will crumble and become slaves to Israel.

  20. LIV is a garbage product, but it’s an international product. Are US fox viewership numbers adequate to determine its success? About 1/3 of its events are outside of the US and US time zones.

  21. averytolar

I’m about ready to pitch to the Saudi’s that what people really want to watch is me, the average guy struggle at a muni, erupting into a fight with the randoms I get paired to. I’m way cheaper than canelo and Jon Rahm, just get me a couple interns to film me, a couple boxes of vice golf balls, and we got a production. 50 million flat each year for two years, we got a deal.

If you’re having a party just to meet and bribe global power brokers, you don’t worry about whether or not the dancing clowns at the party bring in a profit. As others have said, this does not need to be profitable to be successful. The purpose is to give the Saudis a respectable seat at a table other than oil. Same as boxing, WWE, soccer, this recent stand-up comedy festival. The purpose is to keep Saudi Arabia looking respectable and necessary. It creates an opportunity for VIP shoulder rubbing and global access.

Does anybody think the sports washing is working? My opinion of the Saudi’s regime hasnt changed one bit because of LIV golf. If anything it’s made me think less of them for messing up the regular tour and making me lose all respect for some golfers I used to like.

  24. cas_the_crusher

Why is OPs post history mostly “The PGA tour is killing in viewership” and “LIV golf is struggling”? Why? Seems like a paid promo for PGA and an attempt to discredit LIV.

  25. I would say something on the LIV sub but I got banned by those snowflakes for questioning the viewership of their events. lol.

  26. ReedDickless

A billion in losses is nothing when you’re worth trillions.

  27. T1mberVVolf

I like in SE Michigan and had 0 clue the team championship was in town. Also if your whole thing is being better than the PGA it’s crazy to have your championship in Plymouth, MI.

  28. Formal_Potential2198

    Liv stupid

    Dustin who?

    Phil is overrated anyways
