ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico men’s and women’s golf teams will compete on a national stage this week with the second annual NB3 Match Play at Twin Warriors. The tournament, hosted by Notah Begay III and the Pueblo of Santa Ana, will be held Tuesday and Wednesday as part of Golf Channel’s fall collegiate golf schedule. The setting of scenic Twin Warriors Golf Club, just north of Albuquerque, and the backdrop of the International Balloon Fiesta will showcase New Mexico to a national television audience.
The tournament features the men’s and women’s teams from New Mexico and New Mexico State each playing two other schools in addition to each other. Over the two days, the teams will compete in a round robin match play format in which each team plays the other three teams. The men’s field consists of UNM, NMSU, Oregon and UNLV, while the women’s field is UNM, NMSU, Arizona and Texas A&M. A total of five points will be available in each match and the winners on both the men’s and women’s sides will be determined by total points won over their three matches.
Tuesday morning’s matches, beginning at 7:30 am, will include the Lobo men playing UNLV and the Lobo women playing Texas A&M. The Tuesday afternoon matches will include New Mexico-Oregon on the men’s side and New Mexico-Arizona on the women’s side. Wednesday’s matches, starting at 11 a.m., will feature UNM/NMSU matchups for both the men and women.
Golf Channel will broadcast the event live on both days, with coverage also available on the NBC Sports App. Fans around the nation can watch from 5:30-8:30 pm ET (3:30-6:30 pm MT) on Tuesday and from 4:30-7:30 pm ET (2:30-5:30 pm MT) on Wednesday.
