What is the perfect golf ball for your game? We spent 2 weeks using the R&D robot at the Sports Technology Institute at Loughborough University to find out! 🤖 🏌️♂️
Testing 64 different golf balls at three driver speeds (78 MPH, 93 MPH, 114 MPH), with a 7-iron, and a wedge, we identify which golf balls are the best fit for you.
Based on the data created, we chose our top-performing 4/5 Piece, 3 Piece Tour, 3 Piece Club and 2 Piece Golf ball so you know which ball is right for your game.

The Wilson balls are great but I find that they mark up terribly
Great info TG'er. I appreciate all your efforts for this test.
No data on carry deviation!?! 😮😢
As you said, going on course is imperative because this type of testing, whilst important and interesting, completely ignores aerodynamics
Marshmallow! 🤣
First off, thank you very much! But, having the data on the big screen like last year was amazing! Also, left to right dispersion is incredibly important data to test! With distances barely 5 yards difference with driver, dispersion is the more important decision. As of now, 2022 Triad and Mizuno Pro S are the two straightest balls I’ve played. Pro V1 is next, and I haven’t tried the Chrome Tour base model. Love the Srixion Diamond and will probably go back to them but the Staff Model X and Chrome Tour will need to be tried first.
kirkland did change their ball this yr. Lot of reviewers call it the 3.5
Wait, didn’t My Golf Spy just do this???
Extremely disappointed that you didn't provide dispersion data. That's a very important criterion.
Tried the Z-Star Diamond could not play it, too spinny for me even irons get squirrelly. Back to the XV or Staff X which work for me.
Can we know what ball is best on off center hits though? Folks using these are not going to hit the center fifty percent of the time! Great report though! TY
The Kirkland Red Edge Box is the 3.5 version ball! Vice and Seed, if you go down the line 93mph three piece are very consistent! Thanks😢
Great test. Too bad that forgiveness wasn’t addressed in the test. I’ve actually been playing the Saff Model X golf ball since the last test in 2024, and I was very satisfied all season. Nice to see that it was rated even higher in the 2025 ranking.
Appreciate all the work put into this. Is it just me or compression numbers seems high for all the balls? Also who cares is a ball is goes 1 yard further or less? One ball goes 271 and anothre goes 270? Statiscally it's irrelevant. Honestly most of the data is statiscally irrelevant. Maybe look to grouping them into subgroups. Also none of the test represents how the ball interacts with real air/moisture outside.
Why did I just watch a hour+ video on golf balls!?! Because it was really well done and interesting. Great job on the testing and explanations of all the data. Very complete and knowledgeable.
Looks like Jon Rahm’s long lost brother. Callaway should never have discontinued the Chrome X LS, I loved that ball.
really valuable – hopefully you include total distance in future tests.
Here is hoping my ball wins😂😂😂
Chrome Tour Tripple Diamond!!
Just bought some q-star tour 😭 cant wait to lose them now 😂😂😂
Kirkland RED stripe vs SILVER stripe. Both V3. You guys show a red stripe v3 kirkland in the video I believe while your website shows a silver stripe v3. These are COMPLETLY different balls with the red stripe being lower spin. Do you know for sure which ones you tested? Costco mostly carries red stripe now but I just saw silver stripe ones a month ago here in Minnesota… Red stripes are also longer.
Ps great test!!!
Talks and my golf dots robot test was way different winners so to say
Taylormade didn’t preform any good at all
The grey vice balls are terrible to find, even hard to see on the fairway, it's worst colour ball out there!!
It's a good scientific fixed condition test, but the different balls act completely different outside, some work better in windy conditions others are terrible, good test though.
Guys can you add a table that shows all the results in one hit? For me it’s not helpful to put balls into construction categories. For instance I’d like to directly compare the Srixon Z Star range results to the entire Callaway Chrome range, I don’t care about the construction, i want to know which is best. Maybe a middle ground would be to put the 3 piece tour balls in the same table as the 4 and 5 piece balls?
I never ever would spend more than 5 min on a topic like. Quit making these boring lenghty Vids. OUT OF BOUNDS
Played the Chrome Tour, Zstar Diamond, and XV today, and I lost all three! Z-Diamond spun so high off the driver and flew right. XV was a little better but flew high right OB on its second drive. Chrome Tour was awesome! Flew straight and about 100ft high. Hit a 7 iron from a (wrong) fairway bunker 175 yards uphill and stuck it 20 ft from the pin! Flew perfectly straight! Wind today and played right after some rain here in Thailand. Hot and HUMID!
Will try the Staff Model tomorrow. Currently, 2023 Triad is my gamer.
I wish rather than dividing them up by 2 piece, 3 piece, ECT… You would choose the best by MSRP such as up to 25, 26-35, 36-45, 45 and up
When are they going to build a ball that is actually low spin off the tee and actually high spin everywhere else
Go back to the other guy and the older format please. In fact, if you can redo this video that way I might be able to get through it. I’ve watched 2023, 2024, but this chat format is killing me. It takes too long to get to the point and there are a lot of points to get to.
No dispersion? Really?
Sides pins needs to be tested also, very different results from that other ball test!
Marshmallow
I dont think this video is going to do as well as last year. Video doesnt even come up if i search "best golf ball" which i feel is a common search term and the thumbnail feom last year was better. Great video though. Do agree that i enjoyed last years video more. And i think add in some chapters to make it more digestable for people looking for specific sections. I dont want to screen through the entire videoe
BORING
