Will Aaron Judge rise to the occasion in October?, Yankees vs. Blue Jays ALDS preview

This was close at one point, but 10 to 1. That’s a statement for the best team in the American League. What’s your overall take on this one, Derek? Well, I mean, it looked ugly, looked very ugly. It’s like I mentioned earlier, I said for the Yankees to be successful, their starters need to go deep, you know, you can’t keep putting pressure on the bullpen, but. It’s one game I think this game was bigger for the Toronto Blue Jays. They had to win this game. Yankees are still set up with Freed tomorrow, and they got Rodan and, and your favorite pitcher. You’re absolutely right. You know, you’re going 2 2.2 innings. It’s not gonna help. I mean, he had been a stud this year, uh, for the Yankees, one of the big part of the starting rotation. He gotta go deeper than that. Look, they came here to get one game and go back to the Bronx. They did exactly the same thing against Boston and they have their best pitcher in Max Freed going tomorrow, and the closer and some of the pens should be ready to go. But to me this is a story about John Snyder, the manager of the Blue Jays, trusting, having feel for Gosman. We haven’t seen this KBA in 10 years where you’re watching a double, 2 walks, and he stays with the guy. He comes in with the biggest strikeout of the game against Aaron Judge. Yeah, we’ll get to that in a second. Vladimir Goro Jr, you called on him to be the guy to watch, and he was absolutely great tonight. Defense and offense. He’s with our Ken Rosenthal. Vladimir Blue Jays’ first postseason win since 2016. You did it without Bobashet. What did you see from your team today? I mean, uh, we play one game at a time, you know, and, uh, thank God we win in the first one, and, uh, we flourish you and tomorrow we’re trying to win a game. John Schneider said yesterday that he wanted you to play free. What do you think he meant by that? Uh, to me it’s uh, I’ve been. I mean to me it’s, uh, you know, play, play with my heart. I play. I give him my 100% every time and uh thank God we winning this game. You had the 3 hits home runs, sacrifice, fly, but more RBIs in this game than in your three previous postseasons combined. What does that do for you going forward? Uh, that means a lot, you know, uh, especially this is my first win. Uh, I’ve been in 2020, 2022, and 2023, and this is my first win and, uh. I feel very proud of the team we went all together. We did it all together, finally you made a great defensive play at first base as well, a dive. Do people realize how good you are defensively. I mean, I think they realize it, but I always got that. I always focus. If I’m not hitting, I focus on defense, you know, we got to help the the starting, and to me it’s like play defense is like like you. You do everything for the team. You’re here and then you play defense too. Congratulations. Thank you. Thank you, Kevin, back to you, Ken, appreciate that and Vlatty, that was a big night for him, no doubt about it. And you consider he had 3 hits in 6 playoff games in his career and he had 3 tonight, right? And Papi, you called him out. You said this is the guy to watch and, and I’m just curious how does that feel now, right? I know 6 games, not a ton of games, but he didn’t have any production. That was a big day for him. I’ll tell you what, yeah, of course everybody gonna talk about Blatty not hitting the home runs since September 5th. But guess what? This is the guy that is gonna be in that organization for a long period of time because he said it all right there, listen, if I’m not hitting, I’m not worried about playing defense because I’m gonna play defense. I’m gonna show some love to my starting pitchers to to just be a leader in this ball club. Now let’s not forget this young blood right here, he is the type of hitter that he. He for average. He hit for power, he put the ball in play. I mean if you look at this guy have they have 36 at bat total, they strike out twice. The bullpen from the Yankee pitched 5.1 inning against them during a strikeout once. I mean this thing overall they are really good at putting the ball in play and that’s. Where the Yankees need to focus. Yeah, that’s what they did all year, and they did it again tonight. And I you referenced the 6th inning. Yankees had their opportunity. Bases loaded nobody out. Aaron Judge at the plate, and Kevin Gozman, as you said, left in the game to deal with it. Yeah, I mean, there, there’s an ideal situation 2 to 1 ball game, the best hitter in the world hitting bases loaded, nobody else. This is what you dream about as a kid, but for our friends at home, I want you to study body language. We’re gonna show you a video in a second. Study the body language of Aaron Judge. He’s in between, fellas, and what I mean is he feels like he’s in a rocking chair. We’re gonna show you this a pitch at bat, very classic attack by Gosman. We’re gonna show you the film here, hard, soft, hard, soft, starting with a fastball. He’s, he’s a little late on that. Then here’s a split lays off it fastball. You study batting late another split, another split coming up here. Too high split fastball, he’s laid on it here, boom and then his best pitch for last, a nasty split for the strikeout, the single best biggest pitch of the game and by far the biggest at bat of the game. Yeah, well, look, I, I, I think let’s give him a little credit. He did have two hits. You know he had a few hits the last year. That’s the difference between this postseason up until this point with some of the previous postseasons. He wasn’t getting any hits, so I do feel as though he’s getting more and more comfortable. Look, you play in postseason games, there’s going to be big at bats, and you’re always gonna look back. I mean, I, I can’t remember a time, but I’m sure you probably had some rough, maybe maybe you didn’t have. But everybody’s been up in those situations and struggled, so I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt in today’s game because he did have a couple good at bats and you gotta tip your cap to the to the pitcher at some point. The, the, the one thing that I that I think in that at bat he mistook it was he wasn’t really thinking about am I going for the fastball or am I going for the splitter. He got, he gets in he got in between. Let’s talk pitching wise. Go to the train station right now. D train right, so we talk about. That’s a good hooho. We talked about the bad. Give me a little pitcher’s feel for Gozman tonight. He did an outstanding job. I love what A-Rod said about being in between. He did that all day long to the Yankee hitters. He was efficient. The mount president was there, and you can see it was a well balanced attack, 8 outs with the fastball. With the split figure and an occasional slider to keep these hitters honest and so it’s very important for him moving forward as the front line ace. I love that split finger that falls off and he neutralized the left-handed batters as well as the right hands and the occasional slider is a very important pitch. It’s not this north and south, but that split finger, it didn’t matter if he was. Behind an account or in the heading account very difficult to lay off because you had to honor his fastball command and velocity. He had that. They talked about him having an extra day so the fastball was anywhere from 95 to 97 miles an hour with that nasty split finger, big time start and again outstanding job keeping the Yankee hitters off balance today.

isn't Ken the guy who knocked over a cameraman and then gave him a dirty look and didn't even try to help him up?
Ion fux wit new yawk nggahz so am fina go tronno on dis 1 🤷🏿♂️
The arrogance of the Yankee players/ex-players is kind of funny. TO spanked your team 10-1. They are the top dogs now!
Hey ARod, it's not John Snyder, it's John Schneider
Not biast at all analysis by Jeter and A-Rod
0:20 "[the Blue Jays] had to win this game"… interesting how quickly they show their bias. I'm sure if the Yankees were at home and won 10-1, they wouldn't be giving the benefit of the doubt to the Jays. And if the Yankees were at home a t lost 10-1, they would be saying something like "it's just one game and there's a lot of baseball left to play".
God I hate Jeter. Actually I hate all these guys except for Papi.
No manger ever said that the goal is to split the 2 games on the road , the goal is to win every playoff game you play at home or on the road lol
Yankees are cooked
Yeah and it's game 2 and the Jays are up what 9-0 right now lol… And what were Yankees fans chanting before this series? Lol
Meeting with, and shaking hands with, a fascist is ugly. I'm enjoying NYY losing 11-0 early in game 2.
Hang on, you haven’t seen it all. Game 2 is 11-0 now Mid 5th 😂
Another Ugly game 2
Fried the best pitcher 🤭🤣
Came here during game two as we up 11-1
Game 2 … it’s 12-0 now, the score is changing by the minute 😂. Basketball 🏀 game here. 😂
Watching this now, listening to Jeter saying Fried is gonna handle game 2…aged like milk dude
This second game has gone from ugly, to fugly.
If Derek Jeter thought yesterday's game was "Ugly", what does he think of the game today?? Woohoo Jays!!
Americans are stuck with Fox but when you watch like real sports channel like TSN, Sportsnet, you get a better perspective of sports. Lose the homer point of view.
And Another Dominant Game Tonight!!!
