The Hawaiʻi State Junior Golf Association’s First Tee – Hawaiʻi conducted the Big Island Junior Championship at Hualālai Golf Course this weekend with 79 participants in three age groups for boys and girls.
The 36-hole event awarded points for Player of the Year and the season race to the coveted Tour Championship in December. That event is by invitation only to top finishers on the points list throughout the season.
The Big Island Junior Championship winners:
Boys 11-12: Carter Crouse, Aiea, +13
Boys 13-14: Leo Saito, Hilo, -8
Boys 15-18: Malakai Akeo, Kailua-Kona, -6
Girls 11-12: Lucy Cui, Honolulu, +4
Girls 13-14: Brooke Asao, Kaneohe, Even
Girls 15-18: Kira Uno, Honolulu, +2

Boys 11-12, Par 72, Kiawe Tees (5,548 yards)
Boys 13-14, Par 72, A’a Tees (6,632 yards)

The Hawaii State Junior Golf Association is a non-profit organization that introduces the game of golf and its traditions to the youth of Hawaiʻi. The association’s goals:
Provide opportunities that teach responsibility and develop qualities of leadership and integrity, while assisting juniors in becoming productive members of the adult community.
Teaching rules, etiquette and instructional clinics on the game of golf.
Golf at a minimal cost to juniors.
An environment to promote and encourage good sportsmanship and friendship among junior golfers.
Opportunities to travel and participate in state and national tournaments.
College workshops to assist all juniors with their preparation for higher education.
