Stephan Joerger admitted that some weird S went down on Thursday after one of his T-shots traveled just 104 yards in the opening round of the Sanderson Farms Championship. The Germans 2025 season has already been a roller coaster, marked by flashes of brilliance and a few meltdowns, including his club smashing tantrum at the Rocket Classic in June. That same weekend, Brooks Kepka famously lost his temper at LIIV Dallas. But this time, it was Joerger making headlines for all the wrong reasons. Standing on the par 417th at the Country Club of Jackson, Joerger unleashed a violent swing only for the bottom of his driver to clip the top of the ball. The shot went straight into the ground and skidded across the grass, stopping just over 100 yards from the T- box. Golf fans wasted no time mocking the Miz hit online. Not impressive. I do this multiple times around. One ex user joked while another chimed in, I accomplished this feat no less than 24 hours ago. A third added, I hit 140 yard drives on most holes. Where’s my coverage? Despite the ugly moment, Joerger managed to shoot a three under 69, hitting just three fairways all day. Afterward, he summed up the bizarre round with a mix of honesty and humor. “Wow, I don’t know where to start,” Joerger told reporters. A lot of solid, some weird S, some nice putts. You know, it was good. Most of it, man. 15, 16, 17 was I don’t know. I just woke up from it. I don’t know what happened. I’m changing a couple things. So, feeling uncomfortable a little bit is part of the deal. He salvaged a par on 16 before stumbling to his first bogey at 17, but steadied himself with a clean finish at 18. I’ll tell you what went through my mind on 18 because I just hit three of the worst te shots of my life and then I hit the fairway. Joerger said I told my caddy Andy that might have been the best swing I made in my life just because golf’s a messed up game. Joerger admitted he still isn’t fully settled with his driver though his irons and wedges feel sharp. It’s just the driver that needs a couple more reps in competition. He said that’s why I’m here to get things sorted out and hopefully play the next three to four tournaments and get better.
