EDINA, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus College women’s golf team is competing in the three-round MIAC Championship this weekend at the Braemar Golf Course. The Gusties shot +48 to place sixth out of the field of 10 conference teams after the first day of the championship.

“We talked about the challenges of the golf course and weather today and trying to minimize damages,” said Gustavus head coach Scott Moe. “We let a couple of holes get away from us, but in the end, really glad how hard we battled.”

Lauren Hubbart led the Gusties in round one, shooting +10 to tie for 15th overall out of the field of 48 golfers.

Emily Kolb and Riley Zebroski followed at +11, tying for 21st overall.

Teckla Wahlstrand had the fourth score for Gustavus, shooting +16 to tie for 34th overall.

“We haven’t played in those conditions yet this fall and I think the difficulty we didn’t adjust as early as we needed to,” said Moe. “We will be ready tomorrow under very similar conditions and look forward to the second third of our weekend.

Up next for the Gusties is round two of the MIAC Women’s Golf Championship on Sunday, October 5. The first tee time for Gustavus is 12:00 p.m. and the final group starts on the course at 12:40 p.m.
