EDINA, Minn. – The St. Olaf College women’s golf team finished day one of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Women’s Golf Championships in seventh place on Saturday at Braemar Golf Course.
St. Olaf posted a team score of 338 (+50) to sit seventh in the 10-team standings through day one of the three-day tournament. The Oles were two shots behind Gustavus Adolphus College, six behind Bethel University, and nine behind the College of Saint Benedict after 18 holes.
First year Annika Searles shot a team-best 82 (+10), highlighted by a two-over 38 on the front nine that included a pair of birdies, to sit in a tie for 15th. Senior Belle Mae Williams and junior Ella Wright were both three shots behind Searles in tie for 26th following rounds of 85 (+13), with sophomore Anneliese Carlson one shot back of them in a tie for 30th (86, +14).
Day two of the tournament will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, with junior Marit Lyle being part of the first group off the tees.
