“Eunseo & Jeneath played well in Singapore against a strong field of the top ranked players from around the world,” said head coach Laurie Gibbs. “After a good start to the Waves season, they traveled to Singapore and proudly represented New Zealand and Malaysia. They return for classes before completing our fall season at the Stanford Intercollegiate.”
Playing four rounds across four days on the par-72 course, both Choi and Wong carded a 73 in Wednesday’s opening round as each got stronger as the week progressed.
Choi went on to shoot under par in each of the final three rounds, posting back-to-back 3-under rounds of 69 before logging a 71 in Saturday’s final round to secure the top-15 finish.
Wong responded with a 1-under 71 in the second round before carding a 70 on Friday. The final round saw 16 pars and final score of 72 as Wong’s two under mark for the tournament paced Malaysia.
Choi also led the way for New Zealand, who finished in 21st as a unit at eight over par. Wong and Malaysia came in at No. 19, with a final showing of four over par as a team. The U.S. claimed the title, winning a tiebreak over Korea as each finished 18 under par.
The duo is coming off a successful showing for the Waves at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic, as each posted a top-10 finish in the event with Pepperdine placing second. Choi opened the fall campaign with a top-10 finish at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, helping the Waves to a seventh-place finish among a challenging field of a dozen.
The Waves will conclude the fall season next at the Stanford Intercollegiate hosted by Condoleezza Rice, with competition set for October 17-19.
