The 2025 Ryder Cup is the 45th edition and runs between September 25 – September 28. Luke Donald is the European Team Captain and Keegan Bradley is the U.S. Team Captain. The European Team are the reigning champion after winning 16 ½ – 11 ½ at Marco Simone in 2023. Every two years, 24 of the best players from Europe and the United States go head-to-head in match play competition. Drama, tension, incredible golf, camaraderie and sportsmanship are served in equal measure, captivating an audience of millions around the world. It’s an event that transcends sport, yet remains true to the spirit of its founder, Samuel Ryder.

Apparently, Young being 1 up against Rose constitutes the "US fighting back…" according to the BBC. With the following four matches Fleetwood A/S, Fitzpatrick 3 up, McIlroy A/S and Aberg 2 up. But that's a fightback.

Rule changes: 1) Either add an alternate who would replace an injured player or if you don't do that then have a full point awarded to the other team. 2) You have to win the cup every time. No more 14 to retain. If it's tied 14-14 then you have a playoff. Each team picks two players and you use the alternate shot format until you have a winner.

Crazy how team USA lost the Ryder Cup but stole the headlines making it feel like they one. Just shows when it comes down to the final day, player on player, best against best, USA dominated. All the rinky dink best ball whatevers are for the birds, but when it was actually time to play a real 18 hole man vs man match, we all know who reigns supreme.
