“These kids are amazing. The opportunity they get here is phenomenal”
Ronan Keating reflected on the work of the St Andrews Links Junior Golf Association (SALJGA) during his visit to a special coaching session held during the 2025 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
The singer songwriter was joined by two Scottish golfing stars, Connor Syme and John Paterson and together, they surprised the young golfers and inspired them as they developed their skills and enjoyed learning together.

[Music] Today we’ve got primary five, primary 7 from St. Andrews Links Junior Golf Association and they’ve come for a coaching session and to meet some guests as honor. Look, these kids are amazing. The opportunity that they get here is phenomenal and there’s over 430 members. They come down here, they can hit basket of balls, they make incredible friends. Classy. Seeing the talent that’s come out of this opportunity. You know, some of the lads like John who’s he’s a pro, you know, he’s playing now in the Dunh Hill. It’s it’s brilliant. I probably started playing golf on here when I was very young, but to be done in a sort of group setting like this with the kids is is memories that I’ve got from ages ago. It feels like it’s a brilliant facility. It’s one of the best in the country. It’s great to have that on your doorstep. In a in a typical lesson, we go through various golfing skills, whether they’ve touched a golf club before or whether they’re playing for Great Britain Island. I’m so proud of the children coming through. So proud, you know, just to see them develop their skills and find a passion for golf, even if they’re just taking up to the game. That’s a big goal for us. There he is. Look at that swing. Nothing like the Donhill. It’s incredible. Obviously, the courses are incredible, but it’s the people. People here in St. Andrews, the people you know that involved in the Dunh Hill, it is phenomenal. [Music]
