HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. – University of Hawai’i sophomore Jasmine Wong went 4-under on the back nine in her opening round 1-under 71, Friday at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate.
 
Making her UH debut, the Gonzaga transfer sits in a tie for 20th place and leads a UH contingent that shot 4-over 292 at the University of Denver Golf Course at Highlands Ranch. Wong birdied Nos. 12, 15, and 16 and eagled the par-5 18th hole.
 
Vanderbilt leads the team competition at 17-under 271 followed by Colorado (276), Clemson (283), Texas State (283), host Denver (286), and Tulane (286). Individually, Vandy’s Lynn Lim and Colorado’s Carolyn Fuller share the lead at 7-under 65.
 
UH’s Maline Kraus and Emiko Sverduk each shot 1-over 73 and are tied for 33rd. Also competing for the Rainbow Wahine are Sofina Firouzi (75, t-53rd) and Chloe Ku (76, t-64th).
 
The second round is scheduled for Saturday with Rainbow Wahine paired with Northern Colorado and Xavier.
