Patrick Reed has delivered a blunt assessment of the decision to pay American players for competing in this month’s RDER Cup. For the first time in the event’s history, Team USA will be financially rewarded with Keegan Bradley’s side each receiving $500,000, £370,000. Of that sum, $300,000 will be directed to charity, while the remaining $200,000 will go straight into the players pockets. By contrast, Luke Donald’s European squad dismissed the idea of payment altogether. Rory Mroy even underlined the team’s stance by saying, “I would pay for the privilege to play in a Ryder Cup.” “On this issue, at least. Mroy and Reed seem to be aligned.” It’s one of those things I think is completely unnecessary to be honest, said Reed, nicknamed Captain America for his fiery Ryder Cup history while speaking at the BMW PGA Championship on Thursday. There are certain events where money just shouldn’t matter. The RDER Cup is one of them. Same with the Olympics. If you’re going to hand out money, then have it all go to charity or put it towards something meaningful. Reed, who confirmed he will not be tuning in to the clash at Beth Page, also suggested Europe’s close-knit bond could give them an advantage. The brotherhood and camaraderie you see on the European side. You don’t really get in the States, he explained. Over here, players grow up competing in more team formats. In the US, even in high school and college, it’s mostly individual golf where you just add up scores. That’s definitely an edge for Europe. But I do think we’ve recognized that in the US and we’re working on building that same level of togetherness.

I didn't know that, and I will boycott the tournament for the first time in 57 years because of this. Shame on the US team. Shockingly poor decision.
Europe should be paid and the money go to charity..mayby they do donate but if they don't, they should.
I googled "Patrick Cheat" and found MANY articles on Reed cheating.
