Miura KM-Baby Blades are 15% smaller than traditional muscleback irons
Miura Golf have announced new KM Baby Blades, their first model to be released since the passing of founder, Katsuhiro Miura, in early 2025
When it comes to setting a standard in iron design, there are few, if any, manufacturers that sit above those crafted by Miura Golf. Renowned for the highly detailed, hand-worked refinement in the construction of their golf clubs, down to even the weight of each individual head, the company produces some of the finest equipment available to golfers who value precision and consistency. With the new KM Baby Blades, Miura are looking to continue that legacy as some of the best irons in the game.
Katsuhiro’s Baby
If you’re familiar with Miura, you’ll no doubt know the reputation of the Baby Blades as well. Born from Katsuhiro Miura’s personal wants and desires for his own game, the BB irons he built are both a classic muscleback design, while still being incredibly relevant in today’s game.
Muira-san’s belief was always that the purist form of a bladed iron should be one that returns back to square at impact, just as it was during the initial takeaway.
To accomplish this, he created an iron that was 15% smaller than a traditional head but maintained the original weight, compressing the steel used into a tighter shape without sacrificing the club’s balance.
The result of this is that the Center of Gravity is much closer to the hosel, allowing the head to rotate back around during delivery with much more ease than either a larger head or one of similar size without the same amount of mass.
It’s an elegant solution to the problem, and one that opens up these irons to more than just the elite-level ball striker, something we’ll come back to.
Honoring a Legend
In early 2025, the Miura family, headed by sons Yoshitaka and Shinei, sadly announced the passing of their company founder and father, Katsuhiro, following a lifetime of dedication to the pursuit of the ultimate golf equipment.
The brothers worked directly with their father in both the management of the business as well as the hands-on processes of crafting these clubs.
Now, to honor his legacy, they’re releasing the first new product since the loss of Miura-san, with an update to the irons that helped ignite and achieve the company’s stellar reputation in the world of Golf.
The KM-Baby Blades
Beginning with the aesthetic choices, the heads of the KM-BB irons carry the same shaping as the ever-popular MB-101 model, one of the most quintessential designs in Miura’s catalogue, to spark inspiration from any golfer who will look down on them, albeit in the compressed Baby Blade style.
Beyond that, the irons bear the ‘1957 Miura’ logo, and, to assure brand loyalists that this is a set worthy of carrying the name, you’ll also notice the application of the iconic red Hanko stamping that has been used to indicate Katsuhiro’s personal pride and approval of the product.
Where this goes beyond just a simple re-release, though, is with the inclusion of the Y-Grind, an invention of Yoshitaka’s, that sharpens the leading edge and adapts the sole, allowing the club to smoothly pierce and then glide through turf with ease.
Miura are also keen to point out that, while these irons do require precise strikes from the golfer, they can be tuned to more than just the strongest golfers, in part due to that heel-sided CG location that allows the face to be squared with more ease.
Ultimately, if you’re looking to play golf in its purist form, there’s no iron more suited to the task than the Baby Blade is.
The Miura KM-Baby Blades will be available to purchase through Miura’s website and select fitters from October 7th, 2025, and will be priced at $400 USD and £385 GBP.
