Rory Maroy has come under fire for what some are calling a hypocritical stance on fan behavior during the RDER Cup. Despite his triumphant role in Team Europe’s 1513 victory over the United States in Long Island, New York, the Northern Irishman was at the center of heated exchanges throughout the tournament, repeatedly targeted by hostile American fans. His wife Erica 4 was even subjected to shocking abuse including having a beer thrown at her which left her in tears by Sunday evening. While Maroy lashed out at unruly fans during play at one point yelling shut the f up in response to heckling. He later told reporters that golf should be held to a higher standard of decorum. Former US Ryder Cup captain Paul Azinger has since accused Mroy of contradicting himself. Speaking on golf subpa podcast, Azinger said in the press conference on he’s saying golf should be held to a higher standard but at the same time he’s saying f you to the fans in full voice for the world to see which is it Rory. You can’t say the fans need to behave better and then act like that yourself. Despite the controversy, Mroy stood by his comments after Europe’s victory, praising the dignity shown by his wife Erica throughout the week and condemning the toxic atmosphere. “Golf teaches you life lessons, etiquette, and respect. Sometimes this week, we didn’t see that. What happened here should not be acceptable in the Ryder Cup,” Maroy said, vowing that European fans will be urged to uphold higher standards when the competition returns to Ireland in 2027. The win marked a sweet ending to a turbulent week for Maroy, who not only helped secure Europe’s triumph, but also made headlines for his fiery passion. Both celebrated and criticized in equal measure.
