Is that good? Nah. Good day, choppers. Welcome back to the chopbox. Now, one thing that I get asked a lot is, “Ron, how do you putt?” So, well, they do. Yeah. Yeah, that’s Yep. No, they don’t. Uh, what they ask is, “I’m getting a putter. What should I look at? A blade, a mallet, and all there’s these new counterbalance zero torque stuff out.” The answer is, I don’t know. Thanks for watching. [Music] [Laughter] The answer is it’s what works for you. Um, what I might like the look of, you might not, but you currently have a zero torque. Yep. Love it. I tried it. I wasn’t a fan of it, but today I thought it would be a good idea for us to give them a test run. So, I have picked three completely different putters. Price prices range as well. We might add the price as well. Okay. Um, golf’s expensive. Yeah, I just It’s bloody expensive. Well, I stole your zero torque, so my putter was relatively cheap. So, we’re going to start off with the blade, move into the mallet, then finish with the zero torque, and then I’ve got one more special guest at the end that will throw a spanner into it. But the idea is we’re going to try hit three putts from 5T, 10T, and then a couple from about 30 foot. Almost do a bit of a point system, and then we’ll work out which one works. And it’ll be interesting if it’s completely different or if we walk away with the same result. But yeah, like I said, it doesn’t matter what putter you have. As long as you look down it, you like the look of it, and it works and it goes in, it’s the putter for you. But for science, let’s do this. But I also think like the amount of putters you’ve been through in the last 3 years, maybe nothing works for you. Okay, so the first one we’ve got is from Even Roll. This is called the K’s. K’s bad. Should have probably researched this before I It’s a blade putter. It’s on brand, mate. Yeah, it’s pretty. It’s um It looks good. It looks very nice. Um so, this is just a straight blade. Um three balls from 5T. Holy douly. Here we go. On brand. Beautiful. Well done. Just a little push out the Was it? I thought I Okay, here we go. Come on, man. Yeah. Well done, mate. Thank you. Um, none out of three. It’s uh, spot on, mate. You missed them all to the right. Did I push it or was that just I don’t know. I think you’re just aiming out there. Um, where am I standing? That’s one for Joel with the blade from 5 foot. What do you think? How’d it feel? Uh I’m not a fan. You don’t like blades? Well, not after using the zero torque. This feels It really feels I can just move around in my hand. Now we’re going from uh 10T. You ripper. Oh, come on. No. You know what? This was This was not the review that I should be doing. Get out of here, man. No way. I think people will have a laugh when they see that you’re reviewing putters, like of all people. Yeah. And then it’s like me reviewing a 60 60°ree lobby. I know for a fact that the Wilson, this will cost you $169. Is that all? That is all. That’s why I grabbed it. It’s a really nice looking putter, too. It’s old school. This is an old school mallet style putter. The bean. The bean. Yeah. Come on, Bean. Right. If I get one, I’m doing better already. I don’t mind the big lines on the back. Yeah. A bit of authority, mate. Yeah. There you go. Just needed a warm up. Needed the bean. Yeah, you’re a mallet potter. Hey, it was it was mom’s hug. Mom’s hug. Right, I’m going to put that down. I’ll get me pencil out for that pen. Come on, Joel. Let’s get Let’s show them that we know what we’re doing. Yes, mate. Bit of a tinge off the face, isn’t it? Yeah. Do you like that? Uh, no. No. It’s milled. It’s like So, this is not a tin. What are you talking about? Is it? No. I had literally have no idea what I’m on then. So, there’s no insert in the face. So, I like that. The milled face. You what you hit is what you get. Yes. Maybe that’s just the feeling that I I don’t know then cuz I’m so used to Well, yours has got a um insert. Insert. Yeah. Okay. Well, that makes sense. Got it. Well done. All right. We’re back. I just feel so much more confident with a mallet. Yeah. I don’t like Yeah, to be honest, if someone like comes to me and says, “I’m just getting started. What putter should I get?” I would say mallet. They say it is like it’s like irons. Yeah. It’s the blade iron is harder to hit than something a bit more forgiving. Yeah. All right. But what I I think as well is showing the price difference already and it’s still the other It’s the guy on the end or the player at the end. Yeah. Exactly. Okay. Let’s make some 10footers. Oh, I’ve hit that so far right. There you go, mate. There we go. That was 6′ by. No, no, we’ll never know. Bit softer. Yes. Well done. All right. Yeah. Well done. You’re right though. I’m already I’m comfortable straight away with the mallet. Just cuz it’s like a big block, you can just make the block go straight back or straight through. Yep. Turn. Yes. Turn. No. All right. Just a one jolly. Very consistent though. All right. 30footer. Come on. All right. Going very well so far. Oh, good roll, too. See that like Dennis Lily cricket ball look to it? I don’t mind that putter. I don’t mind that. Not much breaking it. No. What’s the best putter that you think you’ve ever puted with in your life? Ever? Ever. The best putter I ever have, and I still have it, is a Scotty Cameron blade putter. Okay. Amazing. But I’ve had it for about 12 years. And why won’t you game that then? Because I don’t know. I reckon a reason why you wouldn’t is because if you putt bad, you’ll just get ripped apart. People being like, “Look at him trying to put with Scotty. It’s not for you. Go with a mallet. Beginners, blah, blah, blah.” And that’s just me saying, “Yeah.” Yeah. And then they will comment that. Yeah. No, I um I don’t know. I uh I’m trying to stick to one putter and just practice. I’m trying to what I would tell people to do as well. You know, like you see people that have had putters for years, man. Yeah, I know. I need I want to be that guy. I actually feel really confident over this thing. Yeah. Nice fat grip on it, too. Yeah. Got to hit it. Got to hit it, man. That was that was guts as well. I reckon if you gave me one more, I’d sink it. Yeah. We’ll never know. This is the This is the craze. The counterbalance putter. The square to square from Odyssey. This thing This is a weapon. This is where like you can turn it like that and stays dead still. Yeah. This is also if you um What’s that game that you do? That one croquet. Oh, is that Yeah. Yeah. I was about to say botchi, but that’s that one. That’s That’s from my homeland. Fing. Okay. this thing. It’s a fair bit to look at, but that strip is that’s pretty good for alignment, you would think. Um, holy dully. So, has that got the counterbalanced um, sorry, the counter different grip? Uh, no, it doesn’t. No. No. Or it’s slightly forward. No. Okay. Now, this is a fair bit to look at. So, he parts with it well. So far so good. Yeah. Well done. I mean, it looks funny, but within the third putt, I was starting to get used to it already. Yeah. That is a lot to look at, though, isn’t it? Oh, it very much is. You can see the face is like open up. So, when you push your hands forward, it closes the face like brings the face down. I think that’s the most counterbalance putters you It’s It wants you to push your hands forward slightly, which is a good thing to do with your putting. Okay. Yeah. Is it? Yeah. Okay. Better roll normally. Yep. Jeepers. Man, it looks like a space station. Wow. Okay. Oh man, that was leaky. Yeah, that was a dad. No. Um, is it Robert? Oh yeah, the alien. Alien’s head. I think with a counterbalance or a square to square to hold it lightly and let it do the job. Yeah. Rather than if you’re like, “Come on. I’m trying to make sure it’s not going to breathe again. Okay, come on. 10 foot. Ron slightly forward. Light hands. Alien back. Alien through. That was a good part. What’ you say? Alien back. Alien through. Oh, the monster lip. Yeah, it was. Oh, no. I also like I pin this arm in. Okay. But then keep my hand out. So that’s the sort of And then people like kink their wrist. It’s like that. Yeah. And then you basically Okay. move the bottom hand. Oh, right. Yeah. All right. Can it beat the others? Oh my goodness. I’m I’m actually hoping I don’t do well. Yeah. I don’t want all these to go in. There’s no threat of putting it in the bag. Well, it’s already beaten the blade. That was solid. Yeah, that was pretty. Was it wobbly? Does it look all right? Uh on your backing it. Yeah, you sort of come. She’s wobbly. I tell you what, I reckon you sort of like come out and in a bit. Figure eight. Jeez, it feels heavy. I guess cuz the shaft’s literally twice as long. All right, you get set up. I might help you here. Okay. Right here. So, so elbow in in. Yeah. And then Yeah, you got it. And then just pencil it. And then just let So I’ve never Oh god. paintbrush. Like it could go anywhere, man. Um, this is the first time I’ve ever Oh, come on. ever done this. All right. Oh, yeah. If you go a bit lower with the hand, it it helps. I feel like that’s a that’s your last resort, isn’t it? If everything’s not working, I’m one putt away from having a look. Righty, are they tied or So, based on the scores now, there’s a clear winner for both of us. So, based on the scores for me, definitely not the blade. That’s a clear mallet winner by a long shot. Just one over actually the counterbalance. So, I got five with the mallet, four with the counterbalance, um, two with the other one. Doesn’t matter. Jolly, you, according to this scientific research, should be using a counterbalance putter. Well, that’s probably why I put so well with the you do zero torque and I have a mallet that I can’t putt well with. Yeah. Um, but like the prices for those putters and then the one that worked was the cheapest one for me. So, I think based on our research, uh, pretty much what we said at the start, whatever you like the feel of, cuz you would have brought the counterbalance and like like the way that went back and uh, off your one. Yeah. Yeah, I did. Um, it just felt like you just got set. You pushed it further in your stance. You got set and then you just rock. I didn’t mean to hit that then. This thing’s too long. So, do your own research. Go to go to Golf Box. They have that many putters. Grab a couple. Have a try. Honestly, the one that you like the look of and it a couple go in. That’s That’s you.
