SURREY, British Columbia — Tripp Kinney and Patrick Newcomb each sit at 15-under par and share the 54-hole lead at the Fortinet Cup Championship following Saturday’s third round at Morgan Creek Golf Course.

Kinney jumped to the top of the leaderboard after a bogey-free 7-under 63, while Newcomb carded his second consecutive 6-under 64 to grab a share of the lead.

The pair leads Calgary’s Hunter Thomson, by one stroke heading into Sunday’s final round. Thomson positioned himself to move inside the top-80 and secure status for next season after carding a bogey-free 62, and would jump from No. 96 to No. 48 in the Fortinet Cup. John DuBois is also projected to move inside the top-80 from No. 93 to No. 78 after carding a course record 9-under 61.

Michael Brennan, the No. 1 player in the Fortinet Cup standings, trails by two strokes after carding a 2-under 63 on Saturday.

Kinney started the week at No. 20 in the Fortinet Cup points list and would move to No. 4 with a win on Sunday. Kinney will play in the final group for the third time this season, and finished as the runner-up the last time he played in the last group at the Explore NB Open.

Newcomb entered the week at No. 31 in the points list and would move to No. 7 in the points list with a win.

All players completed play on Saturday. Final-round tee times are scheduled to begin Sunday at 7:30 a.m. and run until 1:00 p.m. off the No. 1 tee, with groups going off in twosomes.
