I miss that place. I used to play there a bunch when I worked at the Berkeley lab

I played it a few years ago and the pace was really bad and it wasn’t in the best shape. How did it play?

We’re very lucky in the Bay with our public courses. Presidio, Harding Park, Half Moon Bay Ocean Course, Lincoln and Sharp – for what they are.

I got robbed of a HIO (kind of) at Tilden. Hit my iron on the green, covered in leaves and twigs. The ball came to rest on the downslope behind the hole, wedged against a small twig. I marked my ball carefully, brushed away the loose impediment, respotted the ball. Before I could address the ball, it started rolling towards the hole, and right in the cup! Had that twig not been there…….

Go play Lake Chabot, it has a par 6 for the 18th hole. : )

Man I still need to drive out there to play there. I was supposed to play there a few years ago with some friends who live out that way, but tee times got booked up snd we ended up just playing Lake Chabot. Still awesome, but I was looking forward to playing Tilden.

Oof, don’t miss the fairway 😬

Fun course. Played it the day after Harding park in 2018.

Golfed there a few times, wasn’t awesome, wasn’t bad. The reviews on GolfNow rate it 2 stars. Does anyone know what happened?

A few years back my drive hit a turkey there and it limped away 🙁 not a week goes by wondering if he lived an okay life

Welcome to the area – this is my home course and I love it. It can be slow (especially at the weekends) and muddy during the winter (especially holes 14-18) but it’s one of my favorite places to be.
I’m heading up there in a few minutes to hit the range, then sit on the patio with a beer to silently judge everyone leaving their approaches short on 13, then smashing tee ball straight into the woods on 14!

Calippe and Chuck Corica are slightly nicer imho… but Tilden has great views and the weather is always nice and cool.
Just don’t book a tee time on the weekend after 7AM unless you really love 6 hour rounds.

I played a course about 10yrs ago during the flooding year. I’m from the PNW & because of the rain in the Bay Area, it was just like playing here! It was SE of SF and the airport was across the water. It played along a cement viaduct for a couple holes. I can’t remember the name. Also, my map app had trouble getting me to the front entrance. It took to a street on the back of the course. I stopped & asked someone for directions; they told me map apps did struggle for some reason there.

The coyotes still hanging around the 11th tee box? They don’t even care about turkeys. Looking for snacks from golfers.

It’s great to see the work being put in to bring Tilden back up to a decent standard… that last pic though, it’s a sneaky bugger of a downhill hole, the narrowness of the initial trajectory always wrecks my head

Waste of good land.
