If you’re someone who misses a lot of fairways this tip is for you. The problem with missing fairways is you have little to no confidence. This tip explains how slowing down and changing your target will help you gain confidence. Once you are confident you can increase your speed and still hit a ton of fairways. It’s a different way to do but once you hit fairways and greens the game becomes way easier. #golfing #golf #golftips #golfswingtips #golfer #golfswing #golfcourse #golfaddict #golfers #golfclub #golflife #pga #pgatour #golfpro #golfcoach #golfr

Imagine you’re someone that’s been hitting driver and you know you’re not very consistent. You try to hit it real hard and you keep hitting it sideways. Well, you have zero confidence. Let’s say you swung a little easier and you keep hitting ball after ball after ball down the fairway all day long. Do you think you’d have a lot more confidence? Yeah, you would. So, you know what happens when you have more confidence? You can actually put a little more into it knowing you’re not going to hit it sideways. You got to trust me on this one. You’re going to go at 50% and no more than 50%. Your thought is, I’m going to hit the fairway, not I’m going to hit this 250 down the fairway. Oh, I’m going to try to get it to that fairway bunker over there. Oh, I’m going to try to hit it to that tree over there. No, those are distance thoughts. You’re not thinking distance. You’re thinking, I need to hit the fairway. I’d like you to do maybe five or 10 rounds of going at 50% with your driver. Okay? You can even swing easy with your irons, too. I’m telling you, after five or 10 rounds, you’ll be playing the best golf of your life. And that’s the only thing I even have to say to you, because you’ll totally start to loosen up and you won’t be tight, and you’ll hit fairways and greens. And you know, you keep hitting fairways and greens, you become a really good golfer.

  1. I’ll try this when I play this week. I’m playing a new course I’ve never played before, and the fairways are quite narrow. The holes aren’t long, so I could easily see driver staying in the bag, and 3 or 5 wood being my go-to club off the tee. They’re also rental clubs, so there’s another reason to go at 50 percent.

  2. Love it. I often use 3 wood for that reason and in match play to be in a position to hit the second shot first
    against my opponent.

  3. My game is in a real funk right now. Playing with guys that bomb the driver. Miss the days when I could keep up with them. Will try this next time out. Years back I did the easy swing method and played my best golf. Then I tried to get a little more. Big mistake!

  4. I learned in a fitting that I hit 3 wood 250 off the tee with about a 20-yard left to right dispersion. I hit my driver 265, with a 50-yard left to right dispersion… Guess what club came out of the bag for a 7 wood?

  5. I tried to chase some distance this past year and my swing is so far out of whack right now. I think this would be a great way to get my timing back. I just feel like every swing I’m trying to crush it and I’m all over the map. Instead of my normal old swing which was pretty darn good!

  6. My issue is that when I just want to hit the ball with a 190 fairway shot I might as well just use my 3 iron

  7. I concentrated last year on slowing down and swinging inside out and damn it works like a charm for all clubs.I’m 73 now and hitting down the fairway probably 250 with an easy “in tempo” swing.
