MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. This weekend, a Marquette nonprofit is shining a light on families who have experienced that loss.
MoxieMoms is hosting a first-of-its-kind golf scramble Sunday. While MoxieMoms primarily focuses on mothers who physically endure the loss, organizers say the Moxie Masters recognizes fathers and partners who also lost their babies.
MoxieMoms Founder Megan Nowicki says the nine-hole fundraiser still has room for three teams of four people.
“We have to raise these funds to be able to continue to support these families through loss with resources and education,” Nowicki added. “We send books, we do a lot of events like this to raise not only awareness but the funds for us to be able to continue to do what we’re doing.”
Organizers say you don’t have to have experienced loss to come out to Gentz’s Homestead Golf Course to support these families. She says all are welcome to enjoy food, music and games, even if you don’t golf.
