Sam Burns has ranked inside the Top 30 on the @PGATOUR in Sand Save Percentage 3 seasons in a row – so he’s a good player to listen to when it comes to how to play from greenside bunkers.

The 5-time PGA TOUR winner gave us a few keys to how he gets out of bunkers every time – and how you can start hitting it closer with more confidence.

[Music] what’s up Sam burs here got a couple different bunker shots we’re going to hit today this is kind of more of a straightforward shorter one I would use a 60 usually uh with this much into the wind and softer sand I’m use a 56 Just a Little More Bounce uh kind of helping the soft sand so get the face pretty open try to create as much loft as I can should be able to add speed and spin and then you know trying to land it probably halfway to the hole maybe a little further into the wind oh pretty good I should use the back stop can’t see pretty good so we have a little bit of a longer bunker shot here about 40 yards def use lower Loft either sand wedge or gap wedge and this one really just trying to kind of hit like a little bit of a release ball that releases a little bit more but I’ll try to do is kind of set up and try to uh draw it a little bit so I’ll set up with my stance a little more closed um and try to swing Along the uh the path of my feet what that helps just kind of shallow it out a little bit uh and creates a little bit more right to left spin that one came off pretty good A lot of times I see amers get in there with a really Square Face um and they’ll either hit you know a ball that comes out really low with no no spin at all they’re too much ball and because they don’t have any Loft it goes way too far so loft is definitely your friend out of a bunker I think that one’s pretty good distance put this one a little further left the [Music] slope it’s pretty good yeah that was going to be pretty tough to get it close with the slope right here but definitely uh definitely good results on those two
