How to choose the right golf simulator hitting mat ποΈββοΈ
Your hitting mat is one of the most important and most overlooked parts of a golf simulator. Pick the wrong one and you could actually hurt yourself as well as your golf game. You could go with a large stance mat, one full piece that you stand on and hit from. They’re bigger, more expensive, but work great, or a smaller hitting strip, which are cheaper and easier to swap out when it eventually wears down. But there’s some things that really matter. First of all, choose a mat that feels like real turf. If it’s too firm, then fat shots will look like perfect strikes on your launch monitor, but on the course, they’d just be dou. And secondly, protect your body. A poor quality mat can wreck your wrists and elbows after a while. There’s no point owning a golf simulator if you can’t use it because you’re injured. Some of the mats that I can recommend include T-Turf, which is the one that I use in my sim, Fiberbill, Sig Pro Softy, and True Strike. All of these balance forgiveness with realistic feedback. And if you want the most professional look, you can even sink your hitting mat into your flooring. And I explain exactly how to do that step by step over on my YouTube channel. So check it out if you’re serious about your golf simulator
