    >Matt Fitzpatrick labels Don Rea ‘bitter’ after Ryder Cup trophy presentation and challenges PGA of America president’s ‘offensive’ accusation that Bethpage Black hostility mirrored the behaviour of European fans in 2023

    >Fitzpatrick claimed the hostility extended even to PGA president Rea, whom he accused of insincerity during his interactions with Team Europe at the trophy presentation.
Speaking to the media ahead of his appearance at the Alfred Dunhill Links, Fitzpatrick said: “I don’t want to speak for everyone, but we felt a bit of bitterness during the trophy presentation and handshake. “Me and Rosie [Justin Rose] looked at each other thinking the congratulations didn’t feel very heartfelt. **He said we only retained it, but actually – we won it.**”

    >USA captain Keegan Bradley refused to condemn the “passionate” home fans at Bethpage, with **Rea suggesting the abuse suffered by European players was the same as the American players received in Rome two years earlier**, a view Fitzpatrick refuted.

The lack of class from the US PGA has been staggering and incredibly disappointing. I really thought KB was a good guy too after admittedly only seeing him on Full Swing. Well, you live and learn

Ryder Cup activities should cease until Don Rea gets on his knees… and apologises.

We pissed ourselves laughing when he came on screen and said that one line. Retained my arse, chief.

Golf in America is a Barstool sport now. Shame.

I was watching NBC’s coverage (Buffalo area) and they cut away from the Ryder Cup coverage before the presentation ceremony had even begun….

I get it, the match is done and it’s not a dedicated sports channel but _IF_ the US had won….

I thought that showed a complete lack of respect for the tournament not just Europe’s win.
