Elizabeth Forward’s Mya Morgan hits her shot on No. 17 during the 2024 WPIAL Class 3A girls golf championship at Butler Country Club.

Welcome to October, a month that can be very scary the closer we get to the end. However, in the world of the WPIAL, October will be a golden month with individual and team championships determined.

We open October with the final round of the 2025 WPIAL Class 3A and 2A individual girls golf championships.

Sewickley Heights Golf Club in Sewickley will be the site for the final 18 holes in both tournaments.

In Class 3A, Elizabeth Forward senior Mya Morgan has built up a nice lead following the first round. She shot a 3-under-par 69 and has a five-stroke lead over Peters Township senior Ellie Benson heading into the final round.

Indians teammate Betty Glyptis, a sophomore, is third, eight strokes off the lead after an opening-round 77.

Rounding out the Class 3A top 10 is Moon junior Liv Degori (81), Pine-Richland junior Siena Smith (81), Fox Chapel junior Clara Koteski (82), Norwin senior Adalena Robb (82), Hempfield senior Kat Devito (87), Elizabeth Forward junior Sydney Boyd (87) and Fox Chapel senior Ava Calandria (87).

In Class 2A, defending champion Alyssa Zhang also enjoys a comfortable lead after 18 holes.

The Shady Side Academy sophomore shot an opening round 1-over-par 73 last week at the Seven Oaks Country Club in Beaver.

She has a six-stroke lead over Chartiers-Houston sophomore JoJo Jaskulski (79) and a seven-stroke advantage over North Catholic sophomore Riley Kontul (80).

Rounding out the top 10 in Class 2A are Greensburg Central Catholic junior Kennedy Kelly (85), GCC senior Alayna Sawovy (86), Eden Christian Academy senior Pearl Lundgren (87), Quaker Valley senior Makenna Kamnikar (87), Central Valley senior Emma Mrkonja (89), Neshannock senior Maddie Desanti (92) and Ligonier Valley senior Addy Witcoski (96).

The first group in 3A will tee off at 10 a.m. and the first foursome in 2A is set to begin at 11:30 a.m.

The top seven finishers in 3A and the top nine in 2A will qualify for the PIAA individual golf championships later this month.

Key matches on the pitch
