EXPLAINED: How to Build a Home Golf Simulator
Do you think building a golf simulator is complicated? Well, it’s actually just a handful of key pieces of kit. Of course, you need a room or a space to put it in. Garage, spare room, or even outdoors. Then, a launch monitor. That’s the brains of your setup. It tracks your ball and your swing data. Next, you’ll need a net or an impact screen to safely catch the ball. A solid hitting map, one that’s true to real life turf and isn’t going to hurt your joints. And finally, something to run the software, like a tablet, a smartphone, or a computer. Now, if you do want the full immersive experience, then you’re going to need to add a projector. That’s where your SIM goes from amateur to feeling like you’re actually out on the course. Of course, there are extras like enclosures, turf, and seating, and lots more. But those are all optional. As I always tell my clients, start with the basics and upgrade as you go.
